Dear Mr Vanderpool i want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you've put in these videos and slides. I may submit you two request though, could you use a lighter background for your presentation slide because printing it require a lot of ink and also could you do a video dedicated to virtual machines ? Your knowledge is a blessing !

Thank you for the comments, I will look at revising the slides prior to upload for easier printing.

Hey great video man, I love your lessons. These videos were very well done and thought out. I do have one question, I was wondering does a memory dump actually dump the application as it was written to memory. May seem like a dumb question given the name but I opened it up in VS and it just showed a list of DLL's attached to that process, I was expecting to see an assembly dumb of the data the program loaded into memory. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about how programs work in windows before I really get into this.

John did you do a dump using Process Explorer? If so, download from the Windows Store: WinDbg Preview and then open the *.dmp file. You will see threads, stacks, and more. You can also use the command !analyze -v
      Thanks for watching!

Hi Mr Vanderpool. Maybe a dumb question. Does all this apply to most versions of Windows? Currently I work IT support and we are at version 1909. Also are there classes I can take through you online and what certs should I go after with learning this type of stuff you're teaching? Thank you

Marcus, most of this presentation applies to all versions of Windows 10. One of the reasons for these videos is this is rarely taught in schools and official course material. Schools tend to focus on CompTIA, Cisco and or Microsoft. All of these are helpful. The practical concepts of troubleshooting and a fundamental understanding of Windows is rarely addressed. My hope is these lectures will encourage you to dig deeper into these concepts. All of my lectures are free and on the channel.

Greate work! But the relation between DLLs and threads is not very precise. A thread may have several DLLs on its stack and a DLL may be called several threads of the same process or of several processess at the same time.
