RAKAPOSHI BASE CAMP HIKE

- One of the most beautiful mountains on the Planet is Rakaposhi, which treated us well and welcomed us with open arms when we visited her from the view point of "KHO" (please watch my last vlog). However it became totally indifferent when we attempted to approach her two days later by getting to its base camp. After all it is also called "Dumani"-Mother of the Mist, and that particular day its misty/cloudy behaviour was on display. However the hike with its splendid views enroute was astounding and every step taken was worth it. I hope you enjoy this little story of three middle aged wanderers, Happy Viewing!

Tremendous effort, both in terms of video making and climb upto to the base camp.
My commendations.
Can you share the time taken for the entire hike from Minapin to the base camp and back ?
*And last but not the least the cost effect for the entire exercise.*
Jaza ka ALLAH
We were three persons and it took us two days from Minapin to Basecamp and back. On day one we started after breakfast from Minapin at around 9 am and reached hapakun around 1pm. The weather turned cloudy and we hired a tent there @ Rs 5000/night including meals (but that was beginning of season and it wasn’t crowded) meals were light and decent nothing fancy and that is what you should have if camping over 9k feet. It rained in the evening. Next morning took off for base camp after breakfast and reached basecamp around 11am. Came back to hapakun and started our descent around 1pm so as to reach Minapin around 4pm. Hired a porter to carry our stuff like jackets, clothes etc and paid him RS 7k. Stay at Minapin for two nights and renting two rooms with very good food was 32k worth. Total expense = 54k ( tips aside) roughly 17-18k per person

I'm planning as well after eid IA. How did you manage guide and camping? Were you already in contact with someone or sorted out when reached Minapin?
Well we stayed at Osho Thang hotel. The owner Mr Israr Shah was very helpful in finding us the guide cum porter who had connections at Hapakun thus lodging and food was arranged too. I’ll share the contacts of Mr Israr and Guide Hasnain. Do your coordination before taking off. Happy travels
