Shekhar Sir this is my best 20-25mins of the day. Because of you I have stopped watching the online TV series and movies and started to watch happenings in the world. So it seems BJP is the best bet to handle Indian economy compared to other political parties in India. They may be wrong with many things, but as per Indian standards, BJP taking many decisions in economy correctly. Some BJP states even going ahead and reforming labour and land laws.

Can't blame them for stopping antibody tests. A political fist was about to come. West Bengal and Rajasthan had already started the fight with Centre and indirectly with ICMR. Then High Court got involved. The way politics happen in India, it was going to be a controversy. Jharkhand Govt even said they weren't getting enough testkits from ICMR, so they purchased directly from the manufacturer in South Korea at a cheaper rate. Guess what they have done less testing than the states who got most of their kits from the ICMR, eg Odisha. A political fight was brewing.

Problem is not ICMR, it's a reflection of a poor merit rewarding system in India. I'm sure scientific community of USA faces much lesser threats and many more rewards even during this crisis. Look at Indians beating their doctors literally......the political class is doing just that with ICMR too.

EDIT: One suggestion: Can we separate the English and Hindi channel of the Print as I prefer watching the English videos but I receive notifications as well as recommendations for the hindi ones too which makes the experience a bit bitter.

Hello - I not am really affiliated to anyone politically. I am a data scientist and all these graphs and doubling rate and flattening of the curve is ballies. All these projections CANNOT apply to COVID data. Its about the variables. In brief - if we cure 500000 and send home but there are 10 left in the community it will bounce back in no time. So yes its not easy and not straight forward. That said, the government has not done anything great. They followed the world into a lockdown not because they had great vision, but because Indains travel less frequently abroad as compared to the holiday loving UK or the economically leading USA. So they had the experience of other nations already to learn from. Infact the lockdown was hapzard. NO COUNTRY in the world announced a lockdown that started in 4 hrs., that is the primary cause of the visiting labor crisis with people now walking home. There was no foresight. The cases are now growing. I wont be surprised if we take over USA and UK etc and be the leader in the wrong chart. Because our lockdown is not effective. Else cases after so many days would start to flatten out. The future is uncertain. The economy was reeling even before COVID - It need this kind of financial aid even without Corona. The virus is here to stay thats what I say. Factories will be short staffed, some because they have no workers, some because they have no business. When FMCG sales take a dip, its the beginning of crisis because people cant buy stuff like soap and toothpaste. In my projections we are heading for doomsday - somewhere in July. Dont be surprised if we loose a crore lives. We lost over a crore lives a century a ago in the last Pandemic. when the population was comparatively tiny. So why wont it happen again?

@@zigzagzog100 it's my choice to download or not download any app. No one would stop me from travelling on a train if I don't have UA-cam or Facebook. And these are private companies, not State. I am a lawyer myself and understand how this is infringing our fundamental right, especially under articles 14 and 21. Now any government is not over our constitution, if you think so then probably you don't consider we live in a democracy. Also, most importantly, for this app system to work we need 60-75% Indians to download and constantly use it, provide truthful information in it. It won't happen in India where other basic needs like roti, kapda and makaan are not met. And if the government is honest, it should have made it open source so general public can test and assess it. It did not. And this government has lied about multiple things in the past, be it black money, demonetization, gst, etc, etc. It's makes educated people little uncomfortable to blindly trust the government without proper check and balances. Uneducated bhakts might do so but not aware and educated citizens like me.

The government is playing it safe, and trying its best in getting the economy back in shape. 5 years down the line, we can hope for the economy to grow with robustness, with focus on land labor, liquidity, and laws. Hope the 'animal spirits' improve.

Well said, but don't expect much from this government as far as economy is concerned. All decisions are based keeping elections in mind. They don't mind if the economy is doing poorly as long as they win elections and that is the main reason they try to keep inflation low!
Spending Money by government does not necessarily always lead to inflation.. it does not have to, if it fuels growth.... And reckless fiscal expansion is not sound economics...its well understood. But being fiscally too constrained is like shooting yourself in the foot.. Look , the fundamental question all of you must ask yourself is " Should Capital be allowed to control the State Policy or should the State control Capital in the interest of its citizens?" I believe in the later, I believe democratically elected Government along with State should be allowed enough fiscal space to invest in infrastructure, education, healthcare, defence....( not populism like free mobiles and tvs) Our fault lies in relinquishing control over our currency in the 90s and passing FRMB act which mandates elected government to limit fiscal spending severely..

Kerala had started surveillance in flights from wuhan as early as January when world had not even realised how deadly it is. Hence they were able to capture 3 students and this was first case reported in India. Corona task force was already spreading importance of hand sanitation and face covering with campaigns in social media and television before any state or central govt actions. Testing was highest in Kerala initially that's why they were able to isolate and do rigorous contact tracing. Similar to Goa , kerala is also tourist place, if you see number of foreigners that were transported back by respective governments you'll understand. India's first hotspot also was in kerala( Kasargod), now they have just 4 cases left. Population of kerala is 35 million, but density is high.Plus the kerala govt treated its migrant laborers with dignity, hence they cooperated with lockdown, some of migrants even contributed to Chief Minister relief fund.The state had all ingredients to go out of control but it didn't, that's why it's getting the praise..
ICMR never said that Plasma therapy is cleared for treatment so Health ministry statement is consistent with ICMR's stand. Even now ICMR is going to perform clinical trials and only on success of trials this will cleared for treatment. So for Clinical trials ICMR stand has been YES-YES-YES and regrading treatment health ministry & ICMR stand is NO-NO-NO consistently. So neither there was flip flop nor any contradiction between Health ministry & ICMR

I don't understand the concerns about the ICMR Plasma therapy - stopnwhat you are doing, we will do a bigger trial and let you know seems valid Pool testing - they want to test and approve? AB test- kits faulty, Dr.Gangakedhkar mentioned in interview with ThePrint that AB tests are first gen. So they reacted quickly and we have to use AB test now (the real question to have asked is are the faults fixed with new kits etc)
Ofcourse, it's a new disease with little to no information. Claiming you are a expert while you are not is stupid. Also pool testing where tpr is lower. Maharashtra has higher tpr so pool testing. Also now antibody tests are coming from US against China earlier

Aside from communal issues regarding hindu muslim and communal appeasement issues where your very biased this is a very neutral channel which has a pragmatic approach towards analysing govt policies. It is as close to neutral media we can get nowdays Aside from rajya sabha tv and doordarshan.
If you want money directly from people do something like 'china uncensored' it's a youtube channel. They name the person who has donated money and answer a question asked by him.

The "journalists" employed have to have a certain ideological bent, or else have to face the glass ceiling (no chances of promotion in the organization). In many cases, we (common people) don't even know who sponsors the media (BJP, CIA, Chinese Intelligence, Islamic Jihadis, the Vatican etc.). There are no media business models anywhere in the world where journalists can work truly independently. The most transparent model is that from the USA, where common people know that Fox is pro-Republican and CNN is pro-democrat.

Also i would like to disagree a little bit that a relief to the poor need not to be given as we have collectively failed them. But what do you think about potential in research in diseases in INDIA, as a researcher myself i believe we still lack the infrastructure and equipemnts and experience adn need reforms.

Shekhar Sir this is my best 20-25mins of the day. Because of you I have stopped watching the online TV series and movies and started to watch happenings in the world. So it seems BJP is the best bet to handle Indian economy compared to other political parties in India. They may be wrong with many things, but as per Indian standards, BJP taking many decisions in economy correctly. Some BJP states even going ahead and reforming labour and land laws.

This nonsense led to increase in dollar rates and hence trade hampered all around the world. Even the GDP of top economics went downhill. So, don't blame Modiji for it. It was bound to happen.

Can't blame them for stopping antibody tests. A political fist was about to come. West Bengal and Rajasthan had already started the fight with Centre and indirectly with ICMR. Then High Court got involved. The way politics happen in India, it was going to be a controversy. Jharkhand Govt even said they weren't getting enough testkits from ICMR, so they purchased directly from the manufacturer in South Korea at a cheaper rate. Guess what they have done less testing than the states who got most of their kits from the ICMR, eg Odisha. A political fight was brewing.

Problem is not ICMR, it's a reflection of a poor merit rewarding system in India. I'm sure scientific community of USA faces much lesser threats and many more rewards even during this crisis. Look at Indians beating their doctors literally......the political class is doing just that with ICMR too.

EDIT: One suggestion: Can we separate the English and Hindi channel of the Print as I prefer watching the English videos but I receive notifications as well as recommendations for the hindi ones too which makes the experience a bit bitter.

Hello - I not am really affiliated to anyone politically. I am a data scientist and all these graphs and doubling rate and flattening of the curve is ballies. All these projections CANNOT apply to COVID data. Its about the variables. In brief - if we cure 500000 and send home but there are 10 left in the community it will bounce back in no time. So yes its not easy and not straight forward.
That said, the government has not done anything great. They followed the world into a lockdown not because they had great vision, but because Indains travel less frequently abroad as compared to the holiday loving UK or the economically leading USA. So they had the experience of other nations already to learn from. Infact the lockdown was hapzard. NO COUNTRY in the world announced a lockdown that started in 4 hrs., that is the primary cause of the visiting labor crisis with people now walking home. There was no foresight.
The cases are now growing. I wont be surprised if we take over USA and UK etc and be the leader in the wrong chart. Because our lockdown is not effective. Else cases after so many days would start to flatten out.
The future is uncertain. The economy was reeling even before COVID - It need this kind of financial aid even without Corona.
The virus is here to stay thats what I say. Factories will be short staffed, some because they have no workers, some because they have no business. When FMCG sales take a dip, its the beginning of crisis because people cant buy stuff like soap and toothpaste.
In my projections we are heading for doomsday - somewhere in July. Dont be surprised if we loose a crore lives. We lost over a crore lives a century a ago in the last Pandemic. when the population was comparatively tiny. So why wont it happen again?

I am a lawyer myself and understand how this is infringing our fundamental right, especially under articles 14 and 21. Now any government is not over our constitution, if you think so then probably you don't consider we live in a democracy.
Also, most importantly, for this app system to work we need 60-75% Indians to download and constantly use it, provide truthful information in it. It won't happen in India where other basic needs like roti, kapda and makaan are not met.
And if the government is honest, it should have made it open source so general public can test and assess it. It did not.
And this government has lied about multiple things in the past, be it black money, demonetization, gst, etc, etc.
It's makes educated people little uncomfortable to blindly trust the government without proper check and balances.
Uneducated bhakts might do so but not aware and educated citizens like me.

The government is playing it safe, and trying its best in getting the economy back in shape. 5 years down the line, we can hope for the economy to grow with robustness, with focus on land labor, liquidity, and laws. Hope the 'animal spirits' improve.

Our fault lies in relinquishing control over our currency in the 90s and passing FRMB act which mandates elected government to limit fiscal spending severely..

Kerala had started surveillance in flights from wuhan as early as January when world had not even realised how deadly it is. Hence they were able to capture 3 students and this was first case reported in India. Corona task force was already spreading importance of hand sanitation and face covering with campaigns in social media and television before any state or central govt actions. Testing was highest in Kerala initially that's why they were able to isolate and do rigorous contact tracing. Similar to Goa , kerala is also tourist place, if you see number of foreigners that were transported back by respective governments you'll understand. India's first hotspot also was in kerala( Kasargod), now they have just 4 cases left. Population of kerala is 35 million, but density is high.Plus the kerala govt treated its migrant laborers with dignity, hence they cooperated with lockdown, some of migrants even contributed to Chief Minister relief fund.The state had all ingredients to go out of control but it didn't, that's why it's getting the praise..
ICMR never said that Plasma therapy is cleared for treatment so Health ministry statement is consistent with ICMR's stand. Even now ICMR is going to perform clinical trials and only on success of trials this will cleared for treatment. So for Clinical trials ICMR stand has been YES-YES-YES and regrading treatment health ministry & ICMR stand is NO-NO-NO consistently. So neither there was flip flop nor any contradiction between Health ministry & ICMR

AB test- kits faulty, Dr.Gangakedhkar mentioned in interview with ThePrint that AB tests are first gen. So they reacted quickly and we have to use AB test now (the real question to have asked is are the faults fixed with new kits etc)

Aside from communal issues regarding hindu muslim and communal appeasement issues where your very biased this is a very neutral channel which has a pragmatic approach towards analysing govt policies. It is as close to neutral media we can get nowdays Aside from rajya sabha tv and doordarshan.
If you want money directly from people do something like 'china uncensored' it's a youtube channel. They name the person who has donated money and answer a question asked by him.

The "journalists" employed have to have a certain ideological bent, or else have to face the glass ceiling (no chances of promotion in the organization). In many cases, we (common people) don't even know who sponsors the media (BJP, CIA, Chinese Intelligence, Islamic Jihadis, the Vatican etc.). There are no media business models anywhere in the world where journalists can work truly independently. The most transparent model is that from the USA, where common people know that Fox is pro-Republican and CNN is pro-democrat.

Sir we need a longer analysi sof the package, for someone like me i felt this was a bit technical. Also i would like to disagree a little bit that a relief to the poor need not to be given as we have collectively failed them.
But what do you think about potential in research in diseases in INDIA, as a researcher myself i believe we still lack the infrastructure and equipemnts and experience adn need reforms.
SG was against DBT to the poor as suggested by "left economists" and also when MSMEs are enabled.. Youn in turn create livelihood for the poor who are directly and indirectly connected to the sector. So, its not correct to tell these measures dont provide relief to the poor
