Today we'll be looking at one of the new kids on the block for 10th Edition, the long awaited Chaos Cults! Arriving from the new Chaos Space Marines codex this is a 40k army that's been much requested over the years (after Emperor's Children we'll just need Dark Mechanicum!). At first glance they look TERRIBLE, & they are, but by the end of this video I hope you'll be as hyped as me
We'll be doing a full-on detachment review that covers their special rules, enhancements & strategems. I've tossed in a few combos that may key off these guys & will also be showing off a few army lists that should hopefully help point you in the right direction for both casual & competitive Warhammer 40k
While they may not seem like much at first glance, it is very much possible that the new Chaos Cult detachment ends up being meta warping for the current 10th Edition wh40k tournament scene. They are basically a stat check, asking if you're capable of clearing a literal HORDE of Cultists from the board before they're able to outscore you.
While their Enhancements leave a bit to be desired & their datasheets may not look like much at first, this is one of those armies where the combined whole is more powerful than the individual parts. With Orks arriving on the scene as well, I hope you guys are ready to deal with the chaff!!
With the new CSM codex ready to take the field by storm, I'm excited to take a closer look at some of the options we're now getting access to for this point of 10th edition Warhammer 40k. I'm hopeful to go over each & every detachment as time goes on, from the Renegade Raiders, Veterans of the Long War, Soulforged Warpack & everything in-between!
While mainly focused on tournament & competitive play, all of these tips should be applicable to casual/garagehammer as well. I'm working on getting some battle reports & hopefully even some 40k lore videos eventually, as well as some Chaos Space Marine list going in the near future though hit me up if you have any suggestions!

Do you guys think Chaos Cults will end of being meta warping? I went into this thinking they were solely 'for fun' but by the end I was starting to think they might actually have some play!
Nah its bad but looks fun.
I don’t think so, but we need more of these Detachments in the game. Will you win Tourneys? Naw. Will you win local friendly games? Yeah. Will you enjoy embracing the meme of it all? God yes. Which is what matters.
I think they will as a glorified Stat Check. Like, yeah, it's kinda dumb but going into an Orks Meta, it's the kind of highly efficient body spam I would expect steals at least a couple tournament wins
Scout move is only given to dedicated transports as far as I know.
Sadly, it will not work with a Land Raider :(.

Waiting with baited breath for Deceptors!!! Realized that you could roll Soul Link on the Warpsmith to steal Chaos Lord’s free strat for Pick Them Off on a bunch of heavy weapons! Seems fun to double up on for sure.

Problem with the Enforcer Ability giving Overwatch for free is that he shoots one of his own Guardsmen afterwards.
I've been waiting for a proper way to play traitor guard/lost and the damned for a long time. I think, finally, I can actually play my favorite faction now
I think this army allows you to make your Deathstar (Abbadon, 10 Terminators and some other Terminator character) arrive in 1 piece at their destination with the Mortal Thralls strategem having a unit of Accursed cultist become their meatshield, 6+ feel no pain and a option to restore models to the unit.
And Defilers, with free interrupt and even when its already been used. Imagin having 3 of those, thats 6 command points saved per combat phase. Keep saying it, People are sleeping on the Defiler.

Nice video man! I want to run a cultist/traitor guard combined arms list with knight allies and maybe a winged daemon prince just to cause trouble, but I’m between this detachment and the Pactbound Zealots. Maybe I’m meta chasing but it seems like you can still get a cult feel from that detachment while buffing units much more consistently. Khorne marked cultist mobs, tzeentch marked traitor guardsmen, etc. I know I’d miss out on the damned stratagems and enhancements but it would also allow me to buff things like daemon engines and spawn if I had the points for them. You think that’s better or should I just big dick it and roll with these guys? I already have a decent amount of Astartes Word Bearers so I’m on the fence
Hmmm, my honest answer is to play both! :P But if you're a big Word Bearers fan (good choice) yeah I'd probably lean that way instead. Fits the fluff & should work out to be about the same damage overall especially if you aren't going the Accursed Cultists Bomb route. Maybe save the Chaos Cult detachment for the fun matches heh
