7 Senior Living Options to Consider

- As you age, you need to consider what options you have for housing. Don’t wait until an emergency situation when you have to find care quickly. Take some time beforehand to consider what options are out there so that when the time comes you can make an informed and better decision.
1) Age in place - with a few modifications you may be able to live safely and comfortably in your home
2) Move in with your kids - it can slash your living expenses- you won’t be lonely- this option would need clear guidelines and compatibility
3) House Sharing - you could choose to live with another senior. If you are a widow and have a friend that is a widow you may decide to live together and share expenses
4) Independent Living Communities- senior apartments that have private space for independent living but have access to social activities
5) Assisted Living - if you need assistance with meals, housekeeping, hygiene, and medication
6) Life Plan Communities- where when needed you can transition from independent living, to assisted living, and then to skilled care
7) Subsidized Housing- this is housing for seniors based on income and there is usually a long waiting list

Do you know all the senior living options where you live?
Nope!
Always good to know our options
@@RetiredLovingItyes, we want to move near our daughter but financially it is not a good time with the economy the way it is. Hopefully things will change for the better.
@@MaryleaMemaw it’s definitely hard right now with this economy

Once again, a thought-provoking conversation. On a funny note, I kept thinking about the Villages in Florida while you talked.😊
That’s definitely a place where seniors gather to live and it caters to them!
Good afternoon dear hope you had a good weekend

Very interesting. You must spend all week researching these videos! 😮
Actually it takes a lot less time to do these videos than our travel videos 🤷♀️
@@RetiredLovingIt ah yes. The editing!!!
@PlanetImo absolutely! Very time consuming
Hello lovely people. That’s good advice. Thank you. I’m not there yet. I’m 54 so getting there. However I’m try to talk to my parents but it’s very difficult. My dad has dementia and his already said please don’t put me in one of those nursing homes. I promise him I won’t, but I don’t know if I can keep that promise as he may get worse, and poor mum may have it as well just waiting for results. Mum doesn’t want me to get any help in for them both. Mum had some falls too. I’m so worried about them , and it’s breaking my heart watching them go through all this. God bless you both for what you do. Love Michelle 🧡🌷🧡🌷🧡
My Dad (Terri’s) had Alzheimer’s and it was heartbreaking to watch. My mother took care of him until he passed last year. My heart goes out to you as I know how difficult it is 😢
@@RetiredLovingIt I’m so sorry for your loss of your dad. I lost my daughter 3 years ago so I get it.
Thank you for your kind words. God bless you both. Xx🦋🌼🦋
I'm thinking we may be considering a senior community in AZ not to long from now. We didn't buy over the winter though. With that and a home caregiver that may be an option for us in the future. I wouldn't mind a caregiver for Kathy now, but we still travel so much and i don't want to give that up just yet. Plans for Kathy are already made near one of our sons should I go first.
It’s great to think ahead! Kathy is blessed to have you! Glad you can still travel!
Although the area we moved to when we changed from home to apartment was the important factor, the facilities we'd need for care should that become an issue, happens to be very close by. It is actually possible for us to receive home care without having to move into care. Unless something dramatic happens of course. So far, we feel confident we've made the right decision. Good topic. Think ahead. Have a great week. 👌🙋♀🇳🇿🥝 ( still in New Zealand)
It’s always good to think ahead so that if something drastic arises we at least know what our choices are. Glad you found a good place!
