Ah, those good old-fashioned elevators with the control lever, sliding doors and folding interior gates, and exterior floor level gauges with the moving indicators above the doors! 🙂
Vintage elevators do not last forever. It's probably costing a lot more to maintain them than it's worth. Especially when it comes to trying to find parts for them when they are no longer being made. And they probably don't meet current regulations for elevator safety. So that's why they need to be modernized
Just curious, what happens if you run a manual elevator past the top /bottom floor? Does it stop and let you go back down or do you hit the final limit and get stuck?
So sad to see these beautiful elevators being replaced by regular ones! I can understand it’s hard to hire elevator operators, but they could have preserved one of the cars in its original state! We need to keep proof of our past technologies! Were you able to collect some of the fixtures?

SACRELIDGE! There should have been protesting in the streets over those elevators being modernized! I would have rather them remixed The Beatles into Techno or Dub Step before modernizing those. That one looked like it ran perfectly.
This will be truly missed. Sucks that it gets modded for the boringer and not vintage. It’s a shame that they modernized elevators without making them vintage again
It stinks but they needed to so they will continue to operate and not break so anybody won’t get stuck on it or injured. Sad to see historic things go but it’s a shame they don’t make historical stuff anymore
Just like most of the wooden escalators at the NYC Macy’s getting replaced by Schindler, except for the lower level set. Their Gurney elevators were tastefully modded. You need to visit there again.

You are exactly right
American stuff was built to last back then, much more reliable than this cheap Chinese stuff made today.
Just curious, what happens if you run a manual elevator past the top /bottom floor? Does it stop and let you go back down or do you hit the final limit and get stuck?
MOST of them including this will auto stop before the limit switch but some older ones will just hit the limit switch.
Nice building!
Thank you! Cheers!
I hope they do keep some of the original
Modded
Slap on
That historic elevator was fast.
Merry Christmas Awesome saucers.
Thanks!!!
Why do I always see the Diesel appearing for a split-second in a random part of the video?
It is a "hidden DieselDucy"
On those manually controlled elevators, how did the operator know which floor was calling it when someone pushed the call button?
The annunciation panel would light up the floor

They are leaving the car switches in the cars. I was given a plate out of one of the elevators. TOTALLY agree with your post of leaving one original.
And it’s going in the museum.

This is beautiful! Let's see how the mod turned out...
I really need to get back here
@@DieselDucy hi
EPIC Otis Elevator, Such a shame it's Now Modernized. Wonder which innovation Fixtures it will be? 2:58 Great ending of the Video.
Thanks :) I need to go back and check.
A well maintained and preserved 1920's manually operated elevator. It was quite fast, DC traction with rectifier?
It was a multi voltage elevator

It did. They were having a hard time getting parts though.
Very epic!
Sadly not any more
So is this elevator modernized by now if it is can you make video about that
I definitely plan on going back down here to do an update
@@DieselDucy awesome and merry Christmas to you Andrew and happy holidays and happy new year

Never mind America, Make Elevators Great Again............
Did they say who did the mod?
I believe it was United
R.I.P. Completely unnecessary to be honest. I do hope the cranks were left there as decoration.
I believe they were
That crank is wired in reverse.
After this comment, I noticed that. I don’t know why they would do that.
that car switch is amazing.

It’s sad to see that these got modded
it is but I can see why they did it.
@@DieselDucywhy do you see why they modded them?
Epic find! Too bad this is getting ripped out
Yeah but it is hard to get parts for

Could’ve waited 5 more years?
Yeah but I see why they did it. Having 3 operators was expensive but I agree with another post. They could have left one original.

whats up
I swear if it's another trashy Innovation mod...
I believe it is but the character of the elevators are retained. I NEED to get back here.
I'm hoping it's not a stupid Generic.
they left the cars intact so they still look historic.
@@DieselDucy I meant when they get completely modded.
People suck... Three-speed?
yeah they were 3 speed and VERY fast.
