This is the kind of accessory review everyone should make: Straight to the point, informative, detailed enough but not too much, and no detours into what you did for lunch or where you rode last week or your new pickup truck or whatever.
I put this top box on my 2019 Africa Twin based on your review and I’m very happy with it. Top class model-specific mounting kit and aluminum monokey plate too
Thanks for taking the time to review the DLM 30. It's a fairly comprehensive review that gives me a great idea of it's size and functionality. I have a new R1250GS that I am in the process of farkeling and this definitely gives me good information to consider when purchasing my top box.
I have the Triumph expedition top box made by Givi. The locks & fastenings, they all free up with time. I can fit my helmet gloves & jacket inside it. I live in a hot climate I need that. It has never leaked but anything precious I would put in its own plastic bag regardless of the pannier/box.
Good review Tony. I use a grey one. It doesn't have a handle... However, I sourced a nice solid stainless steel grab handle from a marine chandlers supply shop and used stainless steel countersunk bolts, penny washers, rubber washers, locking nuts and (carefully!) measured & drilled four holes to fit the handle across the latch. Be sure to get a handle that's deep enough to give room between the inside of the handle and the latch. It's solid, functional and looks great.
Appreciate the review. I've been trying to figure out a camera transport option for quite some time. With having the same camera pack, I am delighted to hear that the inner pad assembly fits perfectly into this top case. I've been on the fence on this case and I think you've sold me on it!
Great choice Tony, I’ve got the 58L Trekker Outback & love it, takes my helmet, gloves, jacket, waterproofs, disk lock & any other bits I can chuck in 😀. You got lucky with the holes, I followed the instructions & used the pre marked points on the underside & they didn’t match up, I had to elongate them further outwards thankfully when the box is on it can’t be seen 😥
My problem with topboxs it if you are hit from behind, your could slide and hit your spine on the corner of the box. In my experience car bonnets are surprisingly soft .
I was looking at Givi cases, but then I discovered the Kappa K-venture luggage. The Kappas stuff is made in the same factory as Givi but is a lot more affordable. Now I’m saving up, unfortunately other stuff keeps taking priority hahahahahah!
thanks for the video, I didnt know how remove the topcase from the bike, I thought I got a faulty case&mount, I wanted to return them to Amazon as soon as I could remove them, LOL. It was a matter of hitting the buton, not just pushing.
Hey man great video! small question, do you know if the dolomiti also fits on the OEM triumph pannier rack for the aluminium side cases? Because its basically a GIVI rack with a triumph logo on it, so would be could if I could use it on that too
Good review Tony, quick question - would this Givi's trekker dolomiti fit/sit well on your street twin as well (if fitted onto a luggage rack)? Basically, i'm trying to figure out if the panniers will fit on the luggage rack without any issues, especially because the exhaust pipes sweep up a bit on the street twin.
Hi thanks for the video. After watching your video I’ve bought the same for my triumph 800, can I check what the model number of your silver plate was please ?
I'm a documentary cinematographer who primarily prefers shooting with a mirrorless system and your set up seems perfect for me. Do you have the Manfotto Manhattan Mover-50 or 30? I imagine there's a size difference between the two and as you said it fits exactly inside.
thanks for the review. understand from your sharing that the 'inner padded compartment' of Manffroto Manhanton 30 will fit into the case. worried about safety of my camera stuff. not sure will the type of transpotation set up will damage lenses and camera? pls share your experience. thanks in advance.
I’ve not had any issues with it, but my camera gear is pretty robust. I’m also conscious that I’m carrying the gear when riding, so try to avoid unnecessary ‘Vibrations’ and take it easy.
Thanks for sharing. Could you tell me if the DLM can fit plastic Monokey plates, or only the metal ones? The plastic base plates have hooks while the metal ones have pins. Maybe both?
Well Nigel, funny you should ask. I've just ordered a Givi M9 rack so that I can fit it onto my 790 Adventure. Once its here i'll be posting up an install video
Views from the Man Cave great, will wait for the video. Something you might want to look at is a Admore smart brake light technology. Makes the rear end brake light area very bright and safe and pretty easy to install great product from states. Cheers
cool - thanks - After 1 year of use - the big question - Has your valuable camera/lenses bag remained completely DRY inside mate? And ; all the latches and key still getting 5 stars?
hi tony great review Don't know if your aware givi make the genuine boxes for triumph and just rebrand them when you brought your bike you would have had 3 spare barrels with it for your luggage if you don't want more than one key on your ring you can easily swop the barrels over and use the bike key to lock the box ps any chance of doing a review on the side panniers as im toying with the idea of putting some on my 800 many thanks
Hi, and thanks. Yes I had a tiger1200 demo with the explorer too box and recognised the manufacture. Good point about the barrels though, I had forgotten about that! Thanks I’ve plumped for the Kreiga OS soft panniers, and will be putting out a video on that soon. The holders bolt straight onto the SW Motech side carriers
@@mancavemoto my bad i have the triumph branded trekker outback 42 as managed to get a deal on one and could tell it was a rebranded givi box even says made in italy on the inside so presumed the barrels would fit as you have to fit one to the triumph box as it dosen't come with one. was worth a try thanks for letting me know
@@mancavemoto Thank you so much. Triumph's made all the new Tiger rear racks just different enough not to assume that what fits on 900 will fit a 900GT or 900 GT Pro. This one does look like it will fit. Thank you again - love your videos and your accent.
Letting my ignorance show now, but is this (SR6415) all I need to mount the Dolomite? Someone said I also needed a M5 too but that just looks like another rack? I really appreciate your help.
Not at all, and yes sorry it’s not all that you’ll need to fit the top box. The SR6415 is the mounting rack, you will need a base plate. I’d go with the M9 or m8 over the M5 as they are aluminium instead of plastic and are much lower profile. They look better when the top box isn’t fitted and are more practical for strapping smaller soft bags to.
The website makes it look like the SR6415 is the base plate, but its in reality just the rack. Take a look at this media.givi.it/XN-Prodotti/istruzioni/SR6415.pdf
Not a fan of topboxes, but they are enoyingly practical for any task. Uses my shad(plastic) box for commuting so l dont have to ride with a backpack. I can barley get my helmet in it but never uses it for that.
GIVI strongly not recommended. I bought GIVI blade B37 top box 2 months ago and have been facing numerous quality related issues. Contacted GIVI Italy/ India and they refused to even look into the problems seriously and displayed care a damn attitude towards these short falls. After my personal experience, GIVI made me believe that they are an overrated, unprofessional and arrogant company to patronise with. 1. The base plate rubbers are made of material which tends to stick to the top box. Due to this this, every-time I remove the top box, the rubbers sticks to the box and come off. The first time this happened, I lost those rubbers on a highway and then, had to go and look for them in the middle of the night. If you lose these mounting rubbers, your top box will rattle crazily and will that will eventually damage the base plate/ box. 2. The top box cover hinge has a play and due to this, the cover continuously rattles. 3. The packing rubber inside the box and the cover not fitting well. Shouldn’t that be the case, the point 2 above may not happen. 4. The push bottom of the box cover is not very smooth. I have to press really hard to push open the cover. This is dangerous, as the bike may come off the side stand and fall due to this push. I have to be very watchful and have to keep a hand behind the box while opening it. Shared all the concerns and videos with GIVI and I was quite flabbergasted by their response and reaction. They strongly made me believe now that their customer service/ satisfaction is Rock bottom. Highly overrated brand and I am in process of making a full review video of this box and posting it on UA-cam shortly. Once done, will share the link here too: 👍 After using this box for 5000 odd kms, which is a mix of city, highway and off road drives, I feel one should opt for a much stable, stronger and permanently mounted top box like orange candy, Motocan, etc, as GIVI seems to be more super bikes and highway centric design and not made for an adventure bike like Himalayan, which is made to withstand constant vibrations/ beatings. After the above mentioned experience and shelling INR 1,3000/-, I felt deceived and humiliated by such an awefull experience.

It is the most classy top case I have ever seen. It definitely needs to be secured on the mount

Givi do a specific handle for their aluminium top boxes, part no E185.
Thanks for taking the time to make videos. I enjoy all of them.

it’s the Givi SRA6401

Thank you!
Item Weight: 4.72 Kg
Thanks for sharing. Could you tell me if the DLM can fit plastic Monokey plates, or only the metal ones? The plastic base plates have hooks while the metal ones have pins. Maybe both?

yes, best choice for myself as well
It’s a nice piece of kit
What Manfrotto bag do you have?
The Manhattan Mover 30 or 50?
The 50
Hi there! Does this 30L top case fit a Shoei JO helmet? Or any of the open face vintage helmets, e.g. Bell Custom 500? Thanks in advance!

Drilling holes to fit, bolts that are not long enough and its not waterproof! Think I'll give that a miss. Cheers.
The bolts were only not long enough because of the SW Motech side carriers.
Not waterproof: I'm surprised. That would stop me buying it.
Nice video sir.
Thank you
the case is nice -
the price is too expensive
and the installation is painful.
You only have to install once!
