Arguable, considering his back catalogue one if not t he one singer songwriter this country has ever produced , I include the Beatles in this .never looks back always challenges his audience
Pretty, even if you miss the horn section and the rhythm is not as pressing as the original. It seems to have been played with the handbrake on

Why did he rewrite the lyrics?
he changed it cuz it was a sound track to some film but i cant remember what that film was now
Absolute Beginners. A total turkey. Patsy Kensit. From the Colin McInnes novel about 60s Lomdon. A favourite writer of Paul's but sadly the film was very poor.
What lyric was changed? I only know the song from the movie 'Absolute Beginners'. I never realized it was written before it.
The original song was called "With Everything To Lose" and it was a track on the 1985 album "Our Favourite Shop". It had a heartbreakingly beautiful lyric about the oppression of the working class in Thatcher's England and all around the world.
