Must Ride at Monarch Crest | Green's Creek Trail | Colorado

- If you’re a seasoned rider looking for a more challenging and technical ride with world class views from 12,000 ft of elevation, then this route is for you. We began by dropping off a vehicle at Country road 220 then took the other car up to Monarch pass where we began our ride. We started at Monarch pass and rode the first 6.7 miles of the traditional monarch crest route until we ended up at greens creek trail. The trailhead is at Monarch Pass, off Highway 50, 19 miles up from Poncha Springs. There are shuttle services from Poncha Springs to the start or you can shuttle with 2 cars. This technical trail is considered a black Diamond containing deep roots, stream crossings, rock gardens and speedy flowy sections. This rowdy trail is 6.7 miles of pure downhill descending 2,800 feet back to the car. This has to be one of my favorite trails at Monarch Crest.
