I always liked KISS as a gimmick, but wasn't a huge fan...or super familiar with their deep cuts. However....when I saw them on their last tour I was completely blown away. I knew it would fun to see them in the makeup, & hear some good classic rock. 100× better than I ever could have imagined.....felt like we got the full experience of KISS in their prime, and some of the best songs were songs I didn't know, that just rocked the house. By the end of the night it was one of the greatest concert experiences I've ever had. Right up there with Judas Priest, AC/DC, Sabbath & the original White Zombie. People call them sellouts....but even as seniors, they gave us every penny of our money's worth.....& then played for another hour. Kudos to them.
One thing I always liked and respected about KISS was that they worked very hard to give their concert goers all of their money's worth. I saw them in October 1996 at the old Caps Center in Landover, Maryland. They delivered as advertised. Was one of the best concerts I've been to and yes, I got my money's worth.
I think the fact that they wore makeup helped in many ways. One it hides age, two it is entertaining, and three, it allows those celebrities to live a life outside of being a character.
Regarding the fire breathing and Gene having to hold toxic flammable liquids in his mouth, Jeff Watson (former Night Ranger guitarist) said in an interview that when he was on tour with KISS, there was always the smell of burnt toast coming from their dressing room. Turns out the reason why is burnt toast helps neutralize the poison until medical staff can administer the proper treatment. If Gene accidentally swallowed the liquid, they would have burnt toast standing by for him to eat.
The talk about makeup reminded me of something that happened to me when I was a 13-year-old KISS fan in 1978. It was Halloween and I wanted to make myself look like one of the guys in KISS. For years I heard about people using shoe polish to go in blackface, so I decided to use shoe polish. With my father being the hoarder that he was, we somehow had a bottle of white shoe polish with a little piece of sponge on the tip, even though there were no nurses in our house and no one who owned a pair of white shoes. I put this white shoe polish all over my face and then I used black shoe polish in a shallow, round can to make myself look like Peter Criss. Within about 15 to 30 minutes, it felt like my face was on fire. That shit burned! I washed all the shoe polish off of my face as quickly as I could but the burning sensation lasted even after every trace of the shoe polish was gone. Not recommended.

In my youth. I had Every single album by Kiss. Except peter,s solo. Man i So wish i still had them. Such Great music
One thing I always liked and respected about KISS was that they worked very hard to give their concert goers all of their money's worth. I saw them in October 1996 at the old Caps Center in Landover, Maryland. They delivered as advertised. Was one of the best concerts I've been to and yes, I got my money's worth.
As a kid and all these years later, its Paul talking about how KISS respected their fans that gets me ...'WE FUCKIN LOVE YOU (BOOOM!!!!) GOODNIGHT!'
The Sage of Brooklyn! Love to listen to Paul talk all things KISS
He’s right 💯
I love the sound of Paul’s voice
Paul’s the best!
The Beatles were together for ten years, 1960-1970
He probably meant from their first album
Legend.
Steve-O has the fanboy stutter more than once talking to Paul
Stevo looks so enthusiastic looking at the thumbnail photo
I think the fact that they wore makeup helped in many ways. One it hides age, two it is entertaining, and three, it allows those celebrities to live a life outside of being a character.
The people who invent the art form are usually the smartest and most professional.
Say what you like, but this guy was an absolute GOAT of Metal. All hail
Paul is a wise elder of rock - great guy
9:51 " only professional past this point " i would make signs when I worked props in the theatre
Paul seems so humble.
