Ray Charles is a race hustling uncle Tom. In 1981 when the African Nation Congress and the UN were sanctioning apartheid South African and their illegal occupation of Namibia, Ray toured that apartheid country for big money. A leaflet was passed out in Africa that read: VICTORY TO THE ANC OF SOUTH AFRICA AND SWAPO OF NAMIBIA! "Hit the road Ray, and don'tcha come back no more!!!" The UN asked for a apology from Ray and he replied for them to kiss his a$$. When it comes to a dollar it seems Ray will sellout his own mother.

As a black man I must say, Elvis wasn’t a punk for what he did. He may of been white but where he grew up and his environment black culture was apart of his culture (environment) that’s what he loved. It’s not his fault that he was born white performing black movements because that’s what he saw and learnt. Just like Ritchie Valens performing Rock & Roll as a Latino. It’s circumstance. It’s innovation. It’s their culture.

      Actually he is right.
Elvis literally used aa dance voice (Roy Hamilton, fats domino mama Thornton)
And took it to white ppl as something new then HE became the face of something all bcuz he was NOT black.
And Elvis knew that , which is why towards the end he tried to bring out some black artists but it was too late.
African Americans people have ALWAYS had different sounds (Rock-RnB-Rap-Country)
But white people as always get their hands on it and take it.
Literally that type of dancing was called the devil's music all because black people were already doing it. Now you wouldn't even know country and rock were created by black Americans because the MOST Successful ones are ALL WHITE . The ones given the most money and the biggest push are the white people. Please don't be dishonest. Race DOES play a part in our culture.

Ray Charles was blind, so regarding Elvis hip shaking, it was obviously described to him and he used his imagination to figured out what it potentially looked like. Even a person with sight doesn't have to see something to imagine what something looks like. Lastly I don't think Ray's mind was blown at all about a white man shaking his hips. I think Ray's issue was making a big deal over Elvis hip shaking considering its nothing new. Black men did it before Elvis and were better at it. Fact is, nothing is ever widely accepted until a white man does it. Rap wasn't considered music until white guys started rapping, then it became more acceptable.

It’s like watching several of your friends go to jail for weed possession and then the government turns around and starts selling it while your friends are still in jail. WRONG! Sorry, Ray. It was Elvis's own music, too. He grew up in poverty, immersed in the same music in culture. It was his own self expression. Yes, his influences were largely black singers and musicians, but it was part of his soul just as much as it was yours. And yet, he never failed to credit his predecessors respectfully. To say Elvis is a "punk" and not talented is just plain ignorant and jealous. I am thankful Elvis became the vehicle for introducing R & B to the the broader white world because he did so with respect and humility. And he also put his own stamp on it and owned it for himself. Black folks have no legitimate reason to hate on Elvis. He was a non-racist who taught a racist society to love black music. Thanks, King.

      @keithgupton9349 Рік тому

Black Americans don't hate Elvis. So that statement is nonsense. Also this idea that Elvis introduced Rock and Roll/Blues to White people is also nonsense. How can you introduce something to someone that they already knew about? The only reason why the masses of white people didn't openly listen to Rock and Roll/Blues was because they were told by racists that Black music was designed to bring white people down to the level of black people who they considered inferior. And I didn't even mention the sexual aspect of having little impressionable white girls idolizing strong virile black men shaking their hips. White America certainly couldn't have that. So we'll give you the next best thing. A white man who could do the a similar thing. Sam Phillips basically said as much. Remember Sam Phillips of Sun Records? He was one of the few white record producer who recorded black artists in the south. He basically said. If I could find a white man who could do what the black artists could do we'll be rich. Because he understood the racial implications behind what made Rock and Roll/ Blues not acceptable by white people. I think its unfair to call Elvis a racist. But I'm not going to give him credit for doing something that he should have done. Giving black artists their respect. In my heart Chuck Berry or Little Richard deserves to be called the King of Rock and Roll more than Elvis does. The original is more valuable than a copy.

FACT: The music business was racist. ELVIS FOUGHT THAT. 1. Elvis NEVER stole a song. 2. HE DEMANDED that black songwriters got paid. This is why Elvis is credited for tearing down walls of racism in the music business. Not by words and interviews but BY ACTIONS. HERE's THE EVIDENCE: Little Richard exposed the truth about Elvis about this very topic. "Elvis made my song TUTTI FRUITI bigger, and made ME BIGGER" and he said THIS: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...” - Little Richard. Elvis paid his black songwriters very well. And that is THE TRUTH.
Elvis was different, and his perspective was different than most white people of his day, especially among other whites in the South. Elvis grew up in the poorest parts of the South during the Great Depression and Segregation. And he understood the very lowest depths of poverty. Only 4 white families on his block, he lived and played with black children while living in a 1 room shotgun house (shack) with a porch, and without electricity.
His father built the home with a borrowed $150, then lost it because they couldn't afford to pay it back. How poor was Elvis? His twin brother Jesse Garon Presley was still born about 30 minutes before Elvis... and were so poor that they couldn't afford a coffin, so Jesse had to be buried in a shoebox. He was laid to rest in Priceville Memorial Gardens in Tupelo. A SHOE BOX.😞

Elvis didn't steal anything from anyone. ELVIS CREATED HIS OWN STYLE and paid the black artists he worked with very, very well. That "Elvis was a racist and stole black music" narrative was a false narrative that bears no truth and has zero evidence. ALL black artists that worked with him PRAISED HIM.
Elvis is the only musician inducted into the Gospel, R&B, Country and Rock Halls of Fame.
    FACTS:
    1. Elvis Presley has NEVER stolen a song. Not even in one instance. Elvis WORKED ** WITH BLACK SONGWRITERS **. In particular, Otis Blackwell, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, among a few others. Elvis paid for SONG RIGHTS, which went to each black artist.
    2. Elvis then sent ROYALTY CHECKS to the artist based on HIS sales.
    3. Because Elvis CREDITED EACH ARTIST, on EACH ALBUM, black artists' ALBUM SALES skyrocketed when Elvis recorded one of their songs. Elvis opened up THREE REVENUE STREAMS for black artists when almost NO ONE ELSE WAS.
There absolutely were white artists and executives that were stealing black music, but Elvis was NOT in that group. Elvis gave an injection to black music and musicians, that is why they willingly worked with Elvis, and CREDITED ELVIS for doing JUST THAT. Examples: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Otis Blackwell, Fats Domino, Jackie Wilson. Mahalia Jackson. Cissy Houston. James Brown. Isaac Hayes. Al Green. They all credited and put mad respect on Elvis' name.
Elvis came FROM NOTHING. Born in a shack with no running water or electricity. Twin brother died at birth and was buried in a SHOEBOX. So poor his black friend Sam Bell called him the poorest of the poor. Yet his ability to interpret and arrange a song by merging three distinct genres, R&B, Country and Gospel was revolutionary.
Elvis was an ARRANGER as much as he was a lead vocalist and dancer. He was a creator of stage presentations, of clothing attire, and the look of a rock and roll star. He was a crossover youth symbol for many young white, black and Hispanic people in the 1950s, no matter their race or creed, and always went against the order of older elites of the day.
Elvis was a youth rebel, who dressed with Italian and Cuban collar shirts, wide-legged, pleated trousers, blousons , long raised Pompadour hairstyle, sharp colors, denim and leather jackets, and always looked youthful and fresh. Always dressed on point. All eyes were on Elvis. And the older people hated the look and would threaten to arrest him and even kill him for his singing and dancing. Death threats became the norm until the day he died. Elvis was a strong supporter of civil rights, hiring black musicians and staff members when almost noone was at the time, even during the race riots of the 1960s. His voice and action is dearly missed as it could really help in today's atmosphere.

I have to disagree. I don't think he was ONLY copying black music. Yes, he grew up around black folks and went to black churches so obviously he was heavily inspired. You can see over time how he developed his own style and was singing all different styles of music. He eventually added his own personality to his music which made him so special. I don't think he stole it but was inspired but it.

In the 1940s Elvis was jamming with black and white gospel choirs and quartets. Much of his soul comes from these sessions. Much of ROCK AND ROLL came from those 1940s sessions. Elvis WAS part of the change. He WAS a pioneer. Its not culture appropriation / culture vulture when you are a pioneer of a sound. Elvis never stole a song. He credited everyone. He jammed with those that came before him. You cant STEAL "COOL" You cant steal "RHYTHM" Elvis Presley just had that God-gifted IT FACTOR.
You can't steal "SOUL". You can't STEAL "HOW TO DANCE". You can't steal "HOW TO SAAANG". You either HAVE THESE SKILLS, or you do NOT. And Elvis was the TOTAL PACKAGE.
RAY KNEW!!! That's why HE SOLD TWO OF HIS SONGS OVER TO ELVIS TO RECORD!!! And Elvis PAID HIM HANDSOMELY. Naturally Ray doesn't mention that conflicting fact!!!!!
Once Elvis broke out -- EVERYONE OF THEM MADE MONEY on a much more respectful and fair scale.
And so many artists copied Elvis' swag.
Elvis' earlier 1950's dress sense marks him as a true style icon. And it feels particularly relevant today - Cuban collar shirts, wide-legged, pleated trousers, blousons - these are all garments making the rounds on the menswear circuit, but they were also integral to Elvis’ 1950s style wardrobe. He did it all first.

No one has ever truly “made” or “created” anything from scratch. It’s all discovering possibilities Logic already made (in the metaphysical realm) and that this one true God contains knowledge of.
Musicians serve Logic and help the substance of Logic (the incorporeal God of Israel) take the form of Music. We do not truly make music as it is a form of Logic/God that like all other things comes from God/Logic.
The proper way to think of it is this: God aka Logic made God aka Logic (or it wouldn’t truly be THE God and THE Logic of the universe) and only needed to be the substance of logic to be substantive and logical (existing formlessly) then the substance of logic branched out and made forms of logic and applied logic to itself and other things. Consciousness (logical reasoning and self awareness) is one of the subjects that arose once that began to happen and reality (largely connected with space-time when looking at this from the angle of physics) was verified for the first time immediately after that.
Eventually consciousness became embodied and did things like pluck strings and help discover some of the infinite forms the substance of logic can take, such as math, science, language, and music.
The substance of logic makes music (a form and application of logic) possible and music makes the musician possible. Too many people get this completely backwards and steal the glory from God aka Logic.
The musician cannot exist without music any more than the author without literature, the entertainer without entertainment, the comedian without comedy, the politician without politics, the philosopher without philosophy, or the logician without logic.

@@PatchesOhoulihan159 Soo BB King is wrong? No. Muhammad Ali was wrong? No. John Lee Hooker was wrong? No. Little Richard was wrong? No. Jackie Wilson was wrong? No. Sammy Davis Jr was wrong? No. James Brown was wrong? NO. YOU ARE WRONG.
HERE ARE THE FACTS: The great legends of color in his era: BB King - Jackie Wilson - James Brown were there to witness Elvis‘ creativity. He was a one-of-a-kind super talent that grew up in the black community during the Great Depression and segregation in the deep South. Born in 1935 in a shack his father built (no electricity or plumbing). His twin brother died at birth. The Presleys were so poor that they buried his stillborn twin brother in a shoe box.
So Elvis experienced the depths of poverty from the day he was literally born. He grew up playing with black friends on the streets and in black and white southern Baptist churches, in the poorest mixed and black neighborhoods in Tupelo -- a potentially deadly activity back in the 1940s-60s down South. Elvis' support for the civil rights movement was real and is not known by the greater population in America.
The new Elvis 2022 movie examined this part. This is why almost all black musicians from that era absolutely loved Elvis because he was able to take that Memphis sound all around the country and then the world. Little Richard credited Elvis Presley multiple times for opening up the door for black music and creating a path that he could travel and so he could make his mark.
Clearly a terribly racist time Elvis put poverty and racial socialization on his platform. But he did it all through Music and his behind the scenes actions alone. He never got political I think that’s what actually made him so powerful and able to succeed.
FAMOUS QUOTES BY THE MOST KNOWN BLACK MEN and WOMEN OF THE 1940s-80s and beyond WHO ACTUALLY KNEW ELVIS:
JOHN LEE HOOKER - "Elvis was a really good friend of mine.... He was the king." -- John Lee Hooker
MUHAMMAD ALI - 'Elvis was my close personal friend. He had a robe made for me. I don't admire nobody, but Elvis Presley was the sweetest, most humble and nicest man you'd want to know. We must understand, Elvis did lot for poor people, he cared for people, he had a good heart, he just wasn't a person who was great with talent, but he was great in spirit and with God in his heart. I wouldn't praise nobody if he don't deserve it, because I am the greatest of all time in boxing, in boxing. I said boxing ! But I'm telling you, I'm Black, I'm a Islamic, I'm 100% different from you. But I’ll tell the world Elvis was the greatest of all time. I'm a Muslim who's black who stands up for what he believes. I don't have to say what I don't feel, I'm not false, I don't have to say this. I have no Bosses. I'm free. He to me, is one of the greatest singers, actors and all round men of all time.” ~ "THE GREATEST" MUHAMMAD ALI.
BB KING: 'Let me tell you the definitive truth about Elvis Presley and racism', The King of the Blues, B.B. King said in 2010. 'With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know'. -- BB KING
The "GODFATHER OF SOUL" JAMES BROWN: “I wasn’t just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him … I love him and hope to see him in heaven. There will never be another like that Soul Brother”. During Elvis' private family wake, James was the LAST ONE TO LEAVE. 3 hours and 30 minutes later -- it took several of his security guards to help him out of the room. James was devastated -- James and Elvis sang Gospel together many a night to all hours of the morning at each others' homes. James Brown was considered family by the Presleys they were so close.
JACKIE WILSON: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis." --- JACKIE WILSON (Elvis quietly paid for Jackie's medical expenses until the day he passed away in 1977. Before Jackie's stage accident he would carry a small signed photo of Elvis in his pants pocket. Every day, bar none.)
RANDY JACKSON (of the Jackson 5): "Elvis used Rock and Roll music to bridge the gap between whites and minorities. He was a wonderful person."
LITTLE RICHARD "He sung my Tootie Fruti & by him singing it, made it bigger & made ME bigger" And then he said: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...”- Little Richard
CISSY HOUSTON: "Elvis loved gospel music. He was raised on it. And he really did know what he was talking about. He was singing Gospel all the time - almost anything he did had that flavor. You can't get away from what your roots are." - Cissy Houston (The Sweet Inspirations co-founder & member & sang vocals for Elvis, also mother of Whitney Houston)

Go read interviews with Elvis and see how much praise he gives black artists, at a time when that was taboo. He listed many black artists that would never have been given recognition otherwise. Even said that he could never play their songs as good as they did. That’s high praise and conveniently left off anytime this subject is roughy up by those that accuse Elvis of stealing.
