From all these stories one universal rule emerges: don't shack up with someone based solely on how 'attractive' they seem.

You can’t really love your kids and be a great father, (or even a decent father) while simultaneously abusing their mother. John may have never laid a hand on his children in anger, but he was absolutely abusing them. Witnessing that abuse is abuse in itself

I live in the woods of Alaska. 25 years more or less. It's not hard to upgrade from a dirt floor. Seriously.
We get some weird people up here. Most of them leave or get run out before they implode into madness, but one I have personal experience with is the Hale family. AKA, the Pilgrims. An absolute insestuous, abusive plage on the land of a family. Worth looking into if you like those kind of stories.
So... the little people are a thing up here, not everyone can see them, and they move very very fast, and they're often blue. I've seen some really weird stuff, but definitely not that, so who knows.

@kimmccabe1422 I wouldn't say crowded, but ya, we're running out of housing, and decent used trucks. Definitely about to be too many people here I would say. The real problem though is the kind of people moving up here these days. When people come to escape some lower 48 problem, they just bring that problem with them and try to force it on people who don't want it and don't care...
I'm guessing within 5 years most of them will be headed south again. We've seen this kinda thing before.

I was hoping she was going to take him to dinner, excuse herself to go to the ladies' room and get the heck out of there to someplace with safe protection from him like staying with her father or brothers (not sure if she had strong males in her family nevertheless that's what I was hoping). Sad for this poor lady and her family.

It is supposedly one of the most dangerous times for a woman. I know how much some women might want to tell a man that it's over and she's done with him, but it is so much safer to stay quiet until after dipping. Just not being in front of him could provide enough time for him to not act out of rage or to be prevented from reaching the woman. Even men who seem mild mannered have been known to flip when they find out she is leaving.

The police believed Joanne was a victim of a crime, but it took 2 years for a hiker to find her remains a mile away from where her car was abandoned. Why didn't the police have search the area around her car? If Joanne's body had been found in reasonable amount of time, you'd think that would have helped the state charge John with her murder. It's like they knew she was a murder victim but did almost no work to solve her case.

I imagine the Arizona desert/wilderness to be something like the Australian desert, dense forest and outback. We have many people go missing that are never found. One of Ivan Milat's victim's skulls was found years later by a hunter in an area previously scoured by police. It was about 100 meters from the edge of their search area. It does happen.

It makes sense evolutionarilly. For hundreds of thousands of years women relied on men to carry the animals they hunted back to camp while she was pregnant or taking care of babies. If he was too weak to do that work she would starve. Phyiscally strong men with social skills to enlist the help of others were hot tickets for any woman in ancient times. That evolutionary programming hasn't gone away with modern civilization. That's why social proof, muscles, and money are so appealing to women even today.

I feel it's strange that this man paid more attention to details into crime investigations, and impressed other officers as well. May be he's 'recording' how natural/nature influences/holds power over the outcome, therefore 'belittling' the human's talent (other officers) in taking credit. Also, turning into the 'incredible hulk' in the restaurant proved his rage at 'modern inventions' was literally killing his personality.

@@RiahSafiyan Of course I haven't. I didn't say that I had or that I knew that for a fact. The whole video was speculating about the situation and I was adding my own attempt to understand the dynamic in the relationship.
When I say, 'must have been' it's a way of speculating about a situation, not stating a fact. What I was saying was: 'In my opinion, if someone allows themselves to be told when they can and can't wear clothes and to be watched all the time even when going to the bathroom, it would indicate a sense of powerlessness.' Often powerlessness is associated with vulnerability. I am not sure what you are really challenging about what I said. I was mostly saying that I wouldn't want to put up with that sort of controlling behaviour.

I'm not diagnosing anyone in this comment, but John Addis suffered from we in the psychology field would classify as "Weak Porn Stash Syndrome". It's symptoms include, trying to grow an amazing 80s porn mustache, but having it turn out weak like a 90s stock broker. It can really take a hit to ones self esteem, and having a less than adequate "thigh tickler" can really make a man do some crazy things. Again. I'm not diagnosing, but if he sported a Harry Reems love brush, I think he would have been OK

It sounds like John was in his later years taking testosterone supplements. He exhibited many of the side effects of that therapy: moodiness, explosive anger, paranoia, violence, abnormal, constant need and obsession with sex, extreme protruding muscles in upper body and thick neck, broad, angular head. Higher risk of heart attacks or strokes as it raises the blood pressure.
It turns normal, everyday men into steroid monsters.

I think this predator actually had the tools to be a successful serial killer, if there is actually such a thing..... By that I mean, if he were into taking "trophies" rather than possessing those while alive, and killing the ones that didn't fit his ideal... I do find the right leaning moral high ground a bit interesting... I'm sure there are studies on this, and Doc likely could expand on this... He wants a slave wife or girlfriend, who he keeps nekkid how he sees fit, and sex whenever, and however.. I wonder if that was "camo" trying to potentially make law enforcement (etc) think he couldn't possibly be a monster which he railed against, or just part of a demented game..
