Holy Shit, Chris Schenkel even back then, he's truly been the official voice of Golf. Just all of the moments in golf that you can relate to his voice. Priceless!
John fought won the US amateur 🏆😸👍😁🎯 there in 1977 - my buddy " JW " caddied for him the next year in the Masters - he worked for Doug Sanders carol Mann" bud "Allin Bob Murphy and Dave eichleberger on the tour - JW was a great 😃👍😁🎯 super terrific 👍😁💯✅🎈 guy I haven't seen in years and I hope he's doing well ❤️🩹 !
After 1962 Arnold Palmer would win only one more major for the rest of his career. (1964 Masters). At age 35 in 1964 he should won a lot more than 7 majors. Had 3 second place finishes at the PGA Chamionship (64, 68.70).
Lost 2 more (in addition to 62') US Open playoffs (63' and 66'), finished 2nd to Nicklaus in 67' and had his chances in 64', 69' and 72' through 75'. He also frittered away the 59' and 61' Masters; he could have won 5 straight. Palmer should have won a dozen majors, at least.
Yes, the current reference to the British Open as simply “The Open”, was marketing genius as it was used by the R&A starting 15-20 years ago and it stuck. Good observation
What's amazing is Dow Finsterwald is still with us at 92
And he's making a comeback on the PGA Tour.
Love the caddie outfits. They spare no expense there at ol' Aronimink.

Kinda like Bed Jarrett of Nascar he broadcasted from the mid 60s until the early to mid 2000s and he's still alive today

There was some mis-steps with the commentary but this really was great stuff. Thanks for this.
Just terrific!
Thanks
No one has irons the size of frying pans or drivers the size of a basketball cut in half either.

What's with the "tension"? Announcer uses that word several times
Love how they refer to Palmer coming off his 2nd straight BRITISH Open and Nicklaus the reigning Open (U.S.) Champion.
It was the 2nd time in 3 years that Palmer was within 1 stroke of winning the Masters , US and British Opens in the same year.
