tannerratzlaff Haha, that's exactly what I was saying to someone the other day about Forza. A standard E36 and E46 as well would make great cars to own and modify.
you have to respect and appreciate someone who is so passionate about their e30. restoring, maintaining and daily driving a 25 year old car is something special
Only 210,000. Only big issue has been the steering rack...replaced twice...2nd time had upgraded seals, so doing great after 95K miles. Only last year, did I give her 215/45-17 tires and wheels. Stress bar, antisway bars, sport shocks, which drastically changed her stance. Already had chipped her out, free flow exhaust...the usual upgrades. Still has most original clutch etc. I baby her a lot!
In my honest opinion, the E30 is the best car BMW has ever made. It isn't the fastest or rarest, probably not the most collectible or iconic or beautiful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say and I love the looks of them. They are "my" generation of BMW, started the same year I did. Despite great cars like the Isetta, the M1, the 2002 and so many other iconic BMW's, I still say like many others, this is THE best car BMW made. They really are a true drivers car and one that the masses could buy. It was such a well rounded & balanced car, it had all the traits of a really, really good car! The E30 M3 was even better, the big flared fenders and M bodywork, magnificent little S14, love, love, love that car! Any E30 is great and the majority had the wonderful M20 in them. The early M10 I wasn't super fond of but it was a decent engine despite not having a lot of power. BMW did take it's greatest cars and put one of my least favorite engines in it, and the engine in the 318is in the video, the M42/M44 family. It did make more power than the old M10 but had a lot of problems. It was very common for the cylinder heads to crack on those engines amongst many other issues. I was a factory-trained, STEP grad and BMW Master tech for the better part of 10+ years before I went to aviation. I do miss it, at least the older cars. Before the days of all the fiber-optic buses and complex systems. I cut my teeth using the DIS, GT1 and even the MODIC testers on these cars! I'd bet you would get some funny looks in a BMW dealership service center today if you ask what a MODIC was!
mytmousemalibu I had a 320i straight six, only maintained in BMW dealerships, probably one of the best all in all car I ever had, probably not the fastest etc. But such smooth ride, really good on the dry, and never had any mechanical issue till I sold it around 140,000 miles. To this day, dumbest thing I have ever done when you find out how much it would cost to buy one (E30)....
The last half freaked me out because I just got a '91 318IS 5-speed with the M42 but it has been rebuilt after around 200,000 miles. I had to replace some hoses that had cracked and were leaking air a bit but it has been super reliable and stout for the past owner and so far that I've owned it. I was planning on engine swapping eventually anyways so I've planned financially and tool-wise to swap the engine when it has a big bill but I've grown to love it a bit, as the turbine like sound near redline is super enjoyable.
Bloody hell! i would never have guessed it had that many miles on it. Much respect to the owner, who clearly knows BMWs and knows a good car. The 318IS is a gem of a car, eventhough we usually prefer our E30s to have six sparkplugs.
My first car was a 1983 BMW 320i that I purchased used in 1993. Started saving up for a car when I was 14 and bought it when I turned 16. That was an awesome car to learn the basics of RWD vehicle handling. Sure, it wasn't fast but it was nimble and quick through the corners. Other than frequent repairs (we maintained our cars but there were some minor issues with the 320i) it was a blast to own. We kept the car in the family for 10 years and put 100K miles on it. Sadly, one week after we sold it locally, the kid who bought it got T-boned driving into the local Walmart but he walked away with no injuires. The car on the other hand, was totaled. At some point I will probably invest in an E30, but I am also a fan of the 635 CSi.
I have a brillant red 318is just like this one, running on Kreuzspeichen and with a M-Tech1 steering wheel, but without AC & electric roof. Currently resting at my grandmother's house because of too many cars and too little space. Watching this makes me want to get it on the weekend and drive it, because that's what it was made for.
I love my E30, it's a 1991 325i convertible. Every time I get in it I just feel this strong aura off the car. I've driven this car more than 10 hours in a day and it starts and drives the same everyday. Just over 170,000 miles and I plan to keep it moving.
I've had my 89 318i for 5 years and put an extra 70,000 kms on it. E30s have something about them that's so special. I've had 3 other projects over those years but nothing comes close to the baby!
I personally wouldn't use these either but they're originals and I like them better than all the oversized chrome BBS's everyone puts on their E30's...
Bought my 89 325is as my first car for $500 and I'm still in it 5 years later. Never left me stranded, and I intend on keeping it forever. I truly believe everyone should go out and buy an e30/e36 and try it out. You will never want to drive anything else ever again
I agree with that philosophy... when you choose your car, choose it carefully and if you don't feel it, get rid of it. I drive a 1969 912 and I love it :)
Searching for a dream car at 21, and this car is right up there on the list. It's so hard to not want one. Beautiful example, and it's good to hear the owners story about it!
This is my favorite channel ever and I can't even see the cars. I remember most of the models very accurately and it is mesmerizing to listen to all those passionate enthusiasts, special stories and amazing engine sounds and then the perfect soundtracks complement it all. Bravo, really. Keep it going. It's nice to even just go to the list of videos on this channel and listen to the titles. So many awesome cars.
Thought that my damn headset broken, glad found somebody think that the voice came out from a guy. 😂 P.s , The car looks really dope. I kinda wanna one. But those coupe thing in my country cost gazillion.
Just picked up a 91' 318i same color. Doing a drift build on my channel. Purchased the car fully gutted and now making it my own. This car is super peppy around corners. I'm in love.
So beautifull. I have to go to america once in my life just for these back roads. We have epic roads here in France too, but not that large. :) And if i had to spec a E30, it will be exactly the same at the one in this stunning video. Love the wheels.
This video is fantastic on so many levels--great car, super cool owner and I've seen this exact car several times in person; it used to be parked in Santa Cruz in my neighborhood three years ago--for all I know it's still there; I'd always admire it when jogging by in the evenings. Delia, you and your car are friggin' brilliant!
The 318is is a very nice E30 for daily use. And the one in the film is in really decent nick (especially with 327k miles on the clock!). I hope Delia can continue enjoying it for many years. As the M3 is virtually exploding in value and the 320is is not very common, E30s like this or the 325i are still affordable machines for enthusiasts to experience the magic of this Bavarian wonderful chassis.
My e34 525i had 398k miles when I sold it to my boss and now has over 450k on the original engine no one believed me when I had that car it shifted, accelerated and steered so smoothly all I ever did since I bought it at 120k miles was change a head gasket , tires and oil changes best car I have ever owned everything is high quality and felt like a cloud on the freeway
Owner of a 318is here! A lot of people tend to be dismissive of it because it's not a six cylinder...but I personally love it. Simple, extremely lightweight, great handler, and despite all of my deferred maintenance, as solid as a rock.
Bought my 1987 320i about a month ago. One of the last chrome ones :) It´s not perfect yet it has some problems that are getting fixed. No AC, no Powersteering!!! WHO NEEDS THAT SHIT :P
You say that, but my 1988 318i has no power steering either, and I hate it. It's so slow, almost 5 turns lock-to-lock :( I want to replace it with a Z3 rack with 2.7 turns, but that would have to have power steering, or parking with my wide tyres will be a pain in the ass.
My aunt had one, I loved driving that thing. I detailed it free of charge just so I can drive it to my house and back. Wasn't the fastest or nicest car I've driven but, it's the most enjoyable driving experience I've ever had.
Thanks for sharing your story. I, too, have an unreasonable love for the M42-powered E30 and have owned one for the last 18 years. Here and there the temptation to sell it arose, mainly when the not-so-great original timing case design reared its head multiple times over less than two years. But, I persisted, had a 2.1L M42 built when the original timing chain let loose at 210K miles, and it's been tons of fun ever since. ~200bhp in this car, with the nice light front end, is a heck of a good time. On paper it is nothing to write home about, but there are very few cars under $100k that have been, in my opinion, anywhere near the same kind of fun. With the supercars, you can't really do anything anyway because it is all too easy to wind up dead or in jail! As the saying wisely goes, "It is more fun to drive a slow car fast, than to drive a fast car slow." Just my humble opinion anyway. Given your aptitude for wrenching, if the timing chain system ever starts to act-up, consider swapping in the timing case and case-to-block gasket from a 1994-1995 M42. It eliminates the deflector sprocket which is, these days, a significant cause of engine failure. Other than the case-to-block gasket being different, it is a direct bolt-in and a huge reliability improvement.
I'd really like to see more American cars, I owned an E30 and love these videos but I think several video detailing each of the generations of corvettes, Camaros, and mustangs would be beautiful.
Delia, was a pleasure meeting you today at the BMW CCA GGC Cars & Coffee gathering. Your recommendations may have convinced me to dive into a 5 speed conversion and keep the car in the family.
as a recent (January) being to 80's BMW ownership I'm starting to understand why BMW runs deep. my e24 is only a b28 but it talks to me and let's me know what it wants unlike any car I've owned before. it's as if it's alive.
There's something special about that era. My first BMW was an 87 E28- Quite possibly the most enjoyable car I've owned to date. This coming from someone who isn't necessarily even a BMW enthusiast lol.
Love this car. I'm seriously thinking about finding one and bringing it back to life. Interior is awesome, love the plaid seats. As with others, not feeling the wheels. E30 or 2002, I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
BMWs there is no substitute. I have not owned another make since 1999. Currently drive a 2015 335i but man, I am still remember my 2003 323i sport. What a fun car that was.
I learned to drive in an E30 and my first car was a 2002. The engine from the regular 318 was popular as a donor engine for a tired 2002 (not the tii, the carburetor version). Nice clean car. I'd love to own one too.
you know nothing about cars then... The 325 engine is waaay to heavy for the e30. You will have a lot of trouble with the front-axis. The 318is is the best choice for an e30.
really comes down what you want... You want a perfect balanced e30 go for the 318is if you can find one. U want a powerfull Inline 6 go for the 325i if you can afford it! I love my e30 320i
I've had my 89 325is for just bout a year. my son and I love it; we have just about 200K on it and no rust. My best friends Dad bought one new while I was growing up, and I always thought of it as a dream car. Now it is a car that I actually dream of at night. It's just the dreams are about the drive my son and I took that day, and not about one day owning one.
It is amazing how good this car still is to drive today despite ceasing production in the early nineties. You have to hand it to the Germans in terms of build quality and providing great support for their older models so they can stay on the road.
I have been a Mercedes guy my whole entire life. this BMW was always the great counterpart to the 190 I certainly own. I want to take a ride in the e30 one day just to get a feeling how great it is. greetings from Germany
I am a 190 owner as well, i have driven the 3 series several times, some of them very nicely kept, other somewhat rougher. the Beemers are really great little cars, and they feel sturdy and balanced. BUT, in my opinion, they feel a bit too close to the golf VW. they corner really well, and have good grip, which after a long drive you feel in your back and kidneys, For my taste i prefer the smoother and quieter ride of the 190, but that is personal taste. I think German cars in general are the best (except Opels).
Rab Chaudhry I love you, finally I was like are we just gonna ignore the mental illness in the room? I mean great video and great car but alrighty..............
When E 30's were a current model, the manager of the main BMW dealer in Liverpool told me the best E30 to have was the 318iS, with the little twin cam engine. Nice car love. Enjoy.
Oh how I miss my 1985 E30 325I out of the dozens of cars I have owned since that time, nothing compares to the pure driving pleasure from sliding the rear end out at any opportunity LOL Now much older and wiser I plod around in an E240 Merc, yes its lovely to drive, but not anywhere near as much fun as that E30
E30 coupe was my very first car. Was so much fun to drive, but I didn't appreciate it at the time. When it crapped out on me on the freeway, I just left the keys at the shop it was towed to and never returned. Didn't even bother scrapping it!
E30 hands down the best "driver" car I have ever owned!! ive ripped many cars !! it was just so tough, it just felt like the perfect balance, engineering ! drift master!! i miss her :( 1988 BMW 325 is 5 speed
Another entertaining video but what is it with you guys at Petrolicious. No credits to who filmed it. All I can find is "by Petrolicious Productions" Come on guys, do the right thing by the artists involved. Even the most tyrannical movie production houses give credit where it's due.
Yeah maybe in the world of Trader Joe's. It's not just this video but most of their videos. Obviously you don't have any connection to the creative industries. Artists need recognition.
I love this vid. I love it more than any number of vids of cars that are far more drool-worthy. Here is a car that I could actually afford. I've always loved four cylinder cars. The most pure unadulterated fun I've ever had in my 61 years was in a 66 MG Midget I learned to drive in. I love being able to redline three gears up an onramp without courting, well, court. Almost as much as the car I appreciate Delia's perspective. I get it. We see the world through the same kind of windshield. If I had money, I mean real money this is the kind of car I would buy/collect. Eighteen of the twenty cars on my "list" were manufactured before 1980. The S550 Mustang and the tow vehicle for the boat I dream of (also pre 1980) not withstanding. I only wish the vid were longer. I wish I could ride along with Delia for an hour, or a year.
Such a nice movie from a very great car, great to see there are more E30 lovers out there. I just love my '89 Diamantschwarz E30 and with a diesel engine (non turbo) it runs sweet and smooth like nothing else. I just love every single inch driving in my oldskool BMW.
Ah too bad, I'm low on money and space myself, that's why I'm trying to sell my 90 325is. I also have an 87 325is that I've partially restored but I'll never part with that one! :)
I'm so glad this video exists. It doesn't have to be an M3 to make it good.
Exactly! To me e30 is one of my dream cars. Love the m3 but that's never going to be affordable. Wish Forza would put a base e30 on the game.
tannerratzlaff Haha, that's exactly what I was saying to someone the other day about Forza. A standard E36 and E46 as well would make great cars to own and modify.
When petrolicious puts out a BMW video 😁 makes my day every time
Totally agree Bro!👌
Those roads are gorgeous! You really capture the essence of them in this video, as always AWESOME videography dude!
What? Didn't expect to see you guys here. Great, love you content aswell!
you have to respect and appreciate someone who is so passionate about their e30. restoring, maintaining and daily driving a 25 year old car is something special
keep the bmws coming we need more of them please e30 e28 e24 and e9
e36? :( lol
Its too new man.
No love for the first 5 (e12)?
They all rusted away here in the UK :-(
E9 !!!
Since 1991, my daily driver has been the ’91 325i coupe, 5sp, black on black. I love her!
Only 210,000. Only big issue has been the steering rack...replaced twice...2nd time had upgraded seals, so doing great after 95K miles. Only last year, did I give her 215/45-17 tires and wheels. Still has most original clutch etc. I baby her a lot!

My absolute favorite BMW ever made!
Im 14 and my dad got me into bmws, thanks dad. Youre awsome.
Bloody hell! i would never have guessed it had that many miles on it. Much respect to the owner, who clearly knows BMWs and knows a good car. The 318IS is a gem of a car, eventhough we usually prefer our E30s to have six sparkplugs.

300000 miles and over 20 years old and it still looks amazing
The car's not bad either!!! hahahaha
Diefers Dashcam UK lmao 😂
Had one. It was great and i sold it.
What a dump idea.
*I
You guys had one of these and let it go? wow
values are going sky high now, and its a great car.
gj
Love the E30, but not feeling those wheels...
i feel u man
me neither
I personally wouldn't use these either but they're originals and I like them better than all the oversized chrome BBS's everyone puts on their E30's...
are originals tho.. had them on my touring aswell
same here
Perfect blend of car and owners story. Some petrolicious videos are too heavy on the owner and not enough car. This ones perfect.
I love hearing people talk about cars and life. It's really relaxing for some reason.
This might be my favorite video you guys have posted to date. Over 300k mile, daily driven car, and most people could afford.
Bought my 89 325is as my first car for $500 and I'm still in it 5 years later. Never left me stranded, and I intend on keeping it forever. I truly believe everyone should go out and buy an e30/e36 and try it out. You will never want to drive anything else ever again
Wow 500$ was a excellent deal..!! Now an e30is are around 20k +

I really thought at the start of the video, a guy was talking.
+Midnight Rider "girly ass car" lmao sure....
Thought that my damn headset broken, glad found somebody think that the voice came out from a guy.
😂
P.s ,
The car looks really dope. I kinda wanna one. But those coupe thing in my country cost gazillion.

how did you make that determination @@s38b36 ? you do understand that people are born every day with a mix of both sexes right?
As an owner of a 1975 2002, this car, the seats, the view it's a full package deal, Thanks for sharing !
Just picked up a 91' 318i same color. Doing a drift build on my channel. Purchased the car fully gutted and now making it my own. This car is super peppy around corners. I'm in love.
I miss these cars. So simple, beautiful and perfect.
BMW 2002 is an epic!
i love my 190E, but damn, those E30s are sexy thangs!
the front is out of this world...
So beautifull. I have to go to america once in my life just for these back roads. We have epic roads here in France too, but not that large. :)

327,000 miles and still being enjoyed! Another great vid. I like the balance between exotics and "cult cars" on the channel.

The quality of the interior is stunning...parts of it wouldn't look out of place in a modern BMW
Or a Porsche.
325k miles, that is impressive! Kudos for keeping it going and loving it after all this time.
327,000 miles? Damn son

I have 338000+ on my 1991 318is and it is still running good. Love my e30.
"$12,000 ENGINE REBUILD SON!!!"
Bro, you up for a time attack? Where's my stopwatch? You got a stopwatch?
Rear wheel drive brooo
SPARCO SEATS BRO
it's in fact very aerody- BOXES!
didn't know there were so many RCR fans here
Owner of a 318is here! A lot of people tend to be dismissive of it because it's not a six cylinder...but I personally love it. Simple, extremely lightweight, great handler, and despite all of my deferred maintenance, as solid as a rock.
I just bought one two weeks ago, waiting for the springtime weather up here in Canada. Thanks for the video.
Bought my 1987 320i about a month ago. One of the last chrome ones :)
It´s not perfect yet it has some problems that are getting fixed. No AC, no Powersteering!!! WHO NEEDS THAT SHIT :P
Well done.
thanks :)

GodOfGamingBG
well you can upgrade it to powersteering! :D
shouldn´t be a problem on the e30
I just got an 86 eta. Love the chrome trim and bumpers
My aunt had one, I loved driving that thing. I detailed it free of charge just so I can drive it to my house and back. Wasn't the fastest or nicest car I've driven but, it's the most enjoyable driving experience I've ever had.

Other than the case-to-block gasket being different, it is a direct bolt-in and a huge reliability improvement.
this is one of my favorite videos i can’t stop coming back to it
Sold my '87 325is about a month ago and I think about that car everyday. One day I will buy her back.
love hearing these channel stories!
man..these are some beautifully made videos. keep up the quality work guys.
I feel the same way about my E30. Well done Petrolicious, another well made short film about a quality vehicle.
What a beautiful car, I love my 316 E30
I'd really like to see more American cars, I owned an E30 and love these videos but I think several video detailing each of the generations of corvettes, Camaros, and mustangs would be beautiful.
I'm so proud of car people. Great video and beautiful car!
Great video, love the E30, quality of your video iitself is also top notch, Nice work!!
Love how she owned an AE86, she has a great taste in cars.

Love those seats
Oh man, I've learnt to drive on my father's E30 318 saloon, same red paint. Good old days...
Such a well maintained car and such a nice car enthusiast. Loved to listen to her.
I learned to drive in an E30 and my first car was a 2002. The engine from the regular 318 was popular as a donor engine for a tired 2002 (not the tii, the carburetor version). Nice clean car. I'd love to own one too.
I just bought an '87 325is on Thursday, nice!
Congratulations ! Mine is 89 325i M Technic. Amazing car
you know nothing about cars then...
I love my e30 320i
Good job Delia, on the E30 AND living your life YOUR way, rock on.
My car's twin :-) I'm on my third red 318iS since 1993. So much better than anything they made since.
I would have never expected this car to have so many miles on it. Hats off to you, madam. Excellent car.
Beautiful car and a great story. All we can do is hope our cars "survive the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune..."
+Pablo Ruiz henao except the opels haha ^^ I think its a merc thing to be smooth and relaxing whilst driving and a bmw thing to be exciting.
eacorion haha, I like your way of thinking!
190 e, bmw e30, w124, bmw e34, golf mk2 gti
big fan of the e30. When i was a kid the guy next door had a brand new sport kitted 325i. God that car looked amazing. Great take enjoyed it.
One of the best yet!
Mrs.Doubtfire buys an E30...
that made me laugh
Rab Chaudhry I love you, finally I was like are we just gonna ignore the mental illness in the room? I mean great video and great car but alrighty..............
Proud owner of a 1983 323i E30, in Bronzit metallic.
Cut my teeth on E30's as a BMW Apprentice 92-94. 318iS is indeed a rare car. I'd love one.
When E 30's were a current model, the manager of the main BMW dealer in Liverpool told me the best E30 to have was the 318iS, with the little twin cam engine. Nice car love. Enjoy.
Immaculate e30 and having the roads to suit it.
I love this story and the car, I used to have an '88 325i. Great car.
That is a great looking car. Looks like it would be a blast to scoot up and down the coast.
I drive a 1990 E30 318is here in Australia and I feel exactly the same as her!
E30's have aged gracefully. They were successfully raced and won races way into the 90's.
Wow you'd never be able to tell the mileage it has on it. Very cool owner, and amazing sunset shots too.
Oh how I miss my 1985 E30 325I out of the dozens of cars I have owned since that time, nothing compares to the pure driving pleasure from sliding the rear end out at any opportunity LOL
Now much older and wiser I plod around in an E240 Merc, yes its lovely to drive, but not anywhere near as much fun as that E30
That car looks mint for 325,000 miles, but The Ship of Theseus is probably what has kept it afloat.
E30 coupe was my very first car. Was so much fun to drive, but I didn't appreciate it at the time. When it crapped out on me on the freeway, I just left the keys at the shop it was towed to and never returned. Didn't even bother scrapping it!
E30 hands down the best "driver" car I have ever owned!! ive ripped many cars !!
it was just so tough, it just felt like the perfect balance, engineering ! drift master!! i miss her :(
1988 BMW 325 is 5 speed
Another entertaining video but what is it with you guys at Petrolicious. No credits to who filmed it. All I can find is "by Petrolicious Productions" Come on guys, do the right thing by the artists involved. Even the most tyrannical movie production houses give credit where it's due.
I second this.
It's filmed by Valkyr Films
Yeah maybe in the world of Trader Joe's. It's not just this video but most of their videos. Obviously you don't have any connection to the creative industries. Artists need recognition.
I don't know. It's the petrolicious style of filming. No need to give someone else credits if it's actually your style.
W Von Saijin if they work for them then they don't really need credit
327,000 miles, and the thing looks immaculate. Clearly she looks after her gorgeous E30 very well.
Awesome video yet again. Had me pining for my e30.
It's great to hear a female who's so passionate about cars like this..... Hats off to her.
Wonderful car!
I think thats actually a man, not joking.
Thats a man baby!!
Its a transcreature
@@davidich3537 He's not a creature asshole!
@@maltehannover3537 yes keep defending them sheep
I just love every single inch driving in my oldskool BMW.
improved a lot since the last car girl petrolicious video. looking forward for more
M42 forever! I love my 318is and I have the same Style 10 wheels.
I wish I still had my E30 325i
Would you like to buy one?
If I had the extra money and space, I would.
Ah too bad, I'm low on money and space myself, that's why I'm trying to sell my 90 325is. I also have an 87 325is that I've partially restored but I'll never part with that one! :)
+Stefon Gellespie direct message me about the iS
Sorry but I'm not sure how to, I didn't see the option on your channel?
I think we all agree that we would LOVE to see an E39 video someday, somehow hehe
Another awesome Petrolicious BMW video! Her bimmer is flawless. I love the wheels and exhaust.
I saw she sold that on Bring A Trailer.
What an amazing story teller!
I must say its a very clean car.
Great video as always, and fantastic job portraying its owner as well. thank you for doing what you do.
