Things I shall remember from this episode: > If you only know it's Scandi but rocky, guess Sweden >US has the thin bollard:large reflector >Romania + Hungary have fat holey poles >France has a blue thing on poles >White bollard with red = Australia >SA has yellow outerlines >Arg + Braz don't often have single yellow >Braz has long plates
The way you use little things, such as the car brands and your not inconsiderable knowledge or world religions and the prevalent branches in different countries is really incredible and great to watch! The way you differentiated Romania and Russia with the fact that one country is more Catholic and one is more Orthodox really demonstrates how good at this game you are. Impressive, and love the new channel already!
Great new channel. I'm not a total n00b, and I learnt a few things. Some comments: **SPOILERS** * Kenya: driving on the left, snorkel on car * Sweden: long shadows suggest a northerly latitude * USA: the speed limit sign is MPH not KPH * Austria: blue fire hydrant * Mexico: rain gutters or ditches on roadside suggest heavy rain at times-
Yes I would like you to include car meta too, while I understand why it can be cheesy, the only reason some of my opponents are so easily able to catch on to where it is is by knowing the car meta So it will be a really tough rural round and the only reason they have a better idea as to where it is would be because they start thinking in line with the car meta
I started playing Geoguessr earlier this month and I just reached 700 in duels, but this video series is exactly what I needed! I love all your videos on your main channel but definitely going to go through every video on this one to improve my game as a beginner! Also love that you blur out the cars, because I hate guessing countries based on car meta, which doesn't teach you anything about identifying the actual country in real life :)
Thanks for doing this and explaining your guesses! I like the No car meta! I like playing geoguessr with the survival instinct that if I somehow get into an alien invasion, and get dropped back to earth, I’ll instantly know where I am based on the poles, bollards and architecture! I’m also a beginner so I never learned the cars or gen 4 details
9:23 In romania there are 2 main religions: Orthodoxism and catholicism. Around 80-85% of the country is orthodox, and you should often see a church in poor areas
On the last round... "This looks so familiar... I swear this is the road when we took a bus to Sayulita." ... 3.4 Miles away I've only been to Mexico once, to Puerto Vallarta with my dad. This is the first time I've ever gotten a place on Geoguessr that I had been in real life. And I knew it too!
I really like how you don't use use the car here. I just recently got really into geoguessr, and I love all the little clues and metas. Still I conciously try to avoid using the cars all that much. Just feels really bad to knock out my opponent when I recognize the ghana car or something.
I know a lot of people don't like car meta and prefer the car hider, but would you consider explaining some more advanced meta clues? I find antenna, car color, and camera generation to be some of the hardest clues to master. I see a lot of pros get difficult rural rounds in Europe using only camera gen and antenna but I feel like it's one of the weakest parts of my game. I know you're looking at fan feedback on the aggregate so consider this a +1 vote for no car hider. Great vid!
Agreed! When I started getting into geoguessr I used car meta only for the obvious ones (Mongolia, Guatemala, Kenya etc.) - now I know a lot more, but I feel like I get baited more often because I don't know enough and I play a lot more NMPZ. And I was surprised by Sweden having a long antenna (although I went for southern Sweden because of the rocks anyway). Also I tend to forget the Kenya tape all the time.
For your information regarding the rock on the second location or rather your assessment that sweden is a rather rocky country: Such (bigger) rocks can be Glacial erratic, which are rocks that are carried by glacial ice. Glacial erratic oftenly can be found in scandinavia, also northern middle and western europe, or e.g. near the alps, because in the last ice age these were regions that were covered by big ice shields and glaciers. When the ice retreaded due to the warming, these stones and rocks were moved by the ice. (Geology rocks😎 (even though I do not study it but are interested in it))
Lovely stuff, only played the first round and got just over 20k, quite happy with that :) Went Finland in round 2, but the rock really does make sense for Sweden. Round 3 also had a speed sign with mph. Went in Wyoming myself. Round 4, that church really looked Romanian for some reason. Went south since that's what I always do when it's flat. Round 5 thought it was low cam and disregarded everything else... Never rush when there's no timer I guess
0:44 Why when I click on the link, I don't see the car or its shadow at all? How can it be different than by him? And can someone please explain what he means by the tape on the car in Kenya? Is he saying that the google cars in the area he showed on the map have that tape on the edges? (It's such a random thing for the cars to have!)
I didn't Play along for this one. Just watched the Video. Next time i am going to Play along. Very Well explained :) I still need to learn a Lot and this series is perfect for that
Romania is a predominantly Orthodox country just so you know in the future. The catholics are especially in the central-western part of the country(Transylvania) especially owing to the magyar minority... I guessed Russia cause I didn't pay attention to the holey pole :( but at least I had a similar thought process to you :))
Broo those bollards in austria are UNIQUE to austria , no need for toss up with slovenia as the red reflector actually has a dark black tint to it in austria
It would have been helpful if you listed the 20 biggest countries or something for the region guessing one, because I would have guessed UK or France but when I searched up the 20 largest countries it wasnt on the list.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay my home region in the last video. there is also an austrian flag and the flag of the region carinthia on one of the houses. also the blue sign is from an austrian company
on the fifth round in first game with the austria/slovenia bollard i think u can only get the hat on the bollard in austria and not slovenia, atleast i have never seen it in slovenia. black reflector is also more common in austria than in slovenia, in slovenia it would be red almost all of the time
Was in Austria and Slovenia this summer. I was surprised that I saw a lot of 'hats' in Slovenia, as watching Geoguessr UA-cam a number of people said Slovenia has no hats. Something I saw on a lot of roads was: in Austria every second bollard having a hat and in Slovenia every third having one.
@@michaelwisniewski6047 well thats weird, i jsut went on google maps and landed in slovenia and found some with hats, i didnt find any with a black things instead of red on them though, all had red
@@thomasjohnson4987 the hats thing is basically only a ADW thing. You do get stubbles in both Austria and Slovenia but im pretty sure all ADW locs in Slovenia dont have it and most in Austria have it. So afterall just a Geoguessr thing.
I noticed for the first couple you reason that something has to be European because it isn't American (and vice-versa). For the next video could you explain a bit more how you know narrowed it down to those to possibilities and didn't include, say, African/Asian/Australian?
Romania is very much an Orthodox country. There is, however, a huge minority of Hungarians in Romania and they are Catholic.

the man explains this very well
Hi zigzag, i'm from Romania and we acc are an orthodox country, not catholic, so that's why you see that church there :) great video!

This is my new favourite channel. Thank you!!! Amazing videos
As soon as I saw that Austrian round, I said Austria (before you did), just based on vibe and architecture. I'm slowly getting better!
Let‘s go Bigzag 💪🏽 best Geoguessr content out there imo
Absolutely love this already
Pretty thorough breakdown of each game. Solid start. Hope it takes off.
I was waiting for you to do this kind of video, so happy I can finally do a deeplearning about the game
Yes! 🎉 I was starting to have withdrawal symptoms after Rainbolt gave up on this. Glad you are my Methadone...

my god, when you said hedgerows, I immediately thought of the Germans stalling the Allies using the hedgerows and terrain in Normandy

I am wondering why you didn't even make a mention of the train line in Queensland
thanks man quite helpful, cant wait to see tomorrows video
I liked this format alot, ty zigzag keep itu p
Love the idea, zig!
I've just discovered this whole geo search game thing. It's crazy.

The MPH on the third was a big giveaway lol
Genuinely gonna need this with my awful world map knowledge! Looking forward to learning some things!

Great idea
Absolute first timer here, actually didn't do too bad on the first challenge. Did atrociously on the second one however, only one I got was round 3.
Nice i love this

ZIGZAGGER GOAT
big gang would love to see car guesses as well
awesome!
so this is like rainbolts play along series but with a new host
not too dissimilar hahahah
Why did that Austria round have a speed sign on the left side?

day 1 of locking in
Oscar and Trevor ftw!
Good luck!
good video, you beat me on both seeds :(

Lost me at "Czechoslovakia"
isnt this wat rainbolt did but stopped doing because he stopped having fun?
more or less, yeah
For some reason I cannot click on the challenge links 🙁
copy paste them in the meantime
@@geoguessr_explained unfortunately that doesn't work from phone app. But it's not that big of a deal tbh
😮
heehee
first! :D
How does the regionguessing map works? Is the 20 biggest countries of the world based on areal, population, or something else?
its the countries with the most google coverage
