I love how they didn't even jump around or yell into a mic like pretty much all DJs nowadays do. The hoods and lack of movement force everyone to focus and really take in the beauty of the music... Such a riveting, compelling performance, just finished listening to the set for the 6th time since it aired :3

Nice: I agree with your first paragraph. This is incredible music and I have no idea how they stayed still through the set.
However, I strongly disagree with you about the "big-room filth". Trance fans: Don't diss music just because you don't care for it. Celebrate those who enjoy other types of electronic music - and perhaps they won't be so put off by trance music!

There's no other thing here than the letting the music do the talking. This is the set that will be remembered as the rebirth of proper trance. No DJ showmanship, no mics, no gimmicks , just the music , the atmosphere and what I think is already a contender for set of the year. Armin set out under gaia to show his one true love for trance music and the emotional journey it takes you on. This set is that. I haven't stopped playing this. Perfect from start to finish. Gaia is his interpretation of what trance should be. It's his way of safeguarding trance as a genre, a tribute if you will to the music we all love. There's a lot of people in that crowd that have no idea as to what they are witnessing. Benno and armin as gaia Is the future. This is what ASOT is all about.

Like it was yesterday, I still remember this phenomenal music set performed by GAIA (Armin and Benno). It was magical, the nicest atmosphere this crowd created by just being there at that moment. People that assisted to this venue, do you remember the unity, love and energy that night? I know I do. Every single mix performed to the best ability a producer would do, not for nothing Ultra is ULTRA, couldn't said it any better. Looking forward to 2024. This March Miami gets ready for the party of a lifetime, once you're there, trust me and you'll be hooked on a festival of this magnitude. I introduced my adult two kids to these festivals and ever since they've gone to EDC, Ultra, Imagine........music unites people, music brings enemies sharing the same grounds, so much hate in this World and yet here we are, people waving their flags side by side. Electronic music forever. ❤

Absolutely. Anything! Simply Heaven.
They wore hoods because they are interpreting that they are monks who worship Gaia (earth goddess in classical mythology) and they don't show emotions because, besides they are very concentrated mixing, they are trying to create a special atmosphere, kind of like they are saying "this music is the voice of Gaia, it's time to fly to heaven listening this" it's like a spiritual feeling, this is what Gaia is all about.
At least this is what I think.

Yes, its easy to find a point to perform a relatively quick transition over a few bars or a single phrase...but to perform a transition that spans across several minutes of music, without the listener even realising that such a transition is taking place....well that is what djing is about.

For 7 years now and we just take to long to do transitions if situation needs too. Particulary, we can use phrase beat of some track and keep use it for 1 hour set but will be Boring. When you say that long transitions are the perfect way to mixing it just you're preference .look , maybe you need to listen more different sets , different genrs to improve you're sense of trance . I love Gaia but they are better in production. Only my opinion. Take care and sorry for weir

Armin could not have have chosen a better stage than Ultra to show the world that the #trancefamily is alive and well. Nah not by a long stretch. 90's had some warehouse raves that went on for 12 hours with 1 DJ and no MC or mic on the stage.
Really? Hour and a half isn't much. Markus Schulz rarely speaks during his open to close sets. And a lot of DJs just don't like to speak.
Sami Zreik no god no, you need to look at pre 2005 sets :) Benni never spoke when he worked with previous group either.
Gaia has 3 rules. No mics, faces, speaking. No pop vocal trance. Play only their respective music.

Los que estaban en el main stage probablemente estarían saltando con algún dj que a cada rato se presentan en estos festivales y tocan el mismo big room... Mientras que los que estaban aquí tuvieron el placer de asistir al mejor momento de todo el 2014, el primer set de Gaia... como los envidio :(
