I bought an abandoned Gated Manual Lamborghini Murcielago from a track experience company. It was left there for 7 years after a mechanic attempted to fix a problem with the engine. After he rebuilt it the engine wouldn't turn over so they left it. Me and my dad have been working together to rebuild the engine whilst also doing it in a cost efficient way as lamborghini parts are not cheap. But today we finally install it!

A bit late to the party but watching you work with your dad and how giddy he gets with you is so touching to see. My dad helps me with the physical parts of my car modification that as a female I'm just not strong enough to do. He's recently been diagnosed with cancer and the thought of potentially not having him to help me again really hits hard. Cherish your dad for as long as you can, there's nothing quite like it
As someone who has lost their dad recently, its great to see Mat working on his dad with this. Savior the time you spend with him.

For mine it's different. My dad's alive and in the family but he's never involved with us kids. So I never have that father and son bond since young. I wish I had but I know will never have.

We have all watched so many video adventures from Mat…And for me this one really encompasses what makes this channel so great, A genuine guy, doing what he loves, with the people that he loves supporting him. The Joy and pride on Mat’s father face when that engine went back into the Lambo…There’s no scripting that…..
Sure we can all appreciate that feeling where you get a job done with your dad, brother or whoever and you get that massive sense of achievement at the end. No better feeling.

I'm surprised you haven't repainted/properly cleaned some of the parts while everything was out.
Agreed, great opportunity to make the engine sparkle - afterall the engine is the star of this car - the rest of it owes more to a kit car than a factory supercar to my eyes.
Brake line needed to be cut with the correct tool as well - very little of the pipe looked clear after the angle grinder.
@@tillyfoxtrotter I think the time it would take to do that could literally be starting of finishing another project so as a business move getting it up and running, then cleaning as well as you can afterwards is the best move. You can see the rush in fabricating the gaskets instead of waiting a day. I totally get it. I’d probably do the same. But I can also see why some viewers would be left unfulfilled.

Absolutely fantastic! Absolutely hooked to this series, one of the most engaging guys to watch ever. With reference to those butterfly valves, I had a bmw 530d e39 with the same design, something to do with the emissions I believe. One of them disintegrated and completely destroyed the engine. The fix was to take them out and put a blanking plate in its place, once rebuilt didn't affect the car in any way. Hope this helps! Keep up the great work 👌
what i love about you is you are abslutly fearless and nothing could get you down , no matter what the problem is you try to find a solution that works and saves you some moeny as well , i really hope that you make some kind of guide for buying wrecked / abandond cars and how to estimate the value of them and how to estimate the cost of thr rebuilding , you are a real inspire , and your videos gives me motivation and optimism to fight for what i love to do .

Mat what a wonderful video to watch again, especially building this car with your love ones especially with yr dad. Looking at it wish my dad was still a round. He also loved cars and take great pleasure in cleaning and modifing his cars. He sadly passed away in 2009. So enjoy every moment with the ones you love and don't take it for granted. You will treasure these moments with your dad. Epic times. I used to do all this kind of stuff with my dad but he's too old for it now. Absorb all the knowledge you can from him mate. Your becoming a great mechanic. Best way to learn is to just throw yourself at it. Well done buddy!

For the dashboard repair, I’d love a cross episode with the master Alex from NorthridgeFix. He also has a channel here on YT. He does crazy microsoldering repairs, has worked as a car dealer and also fixes a wide range of devices even without schematics. If that thing is gonna ever work again, he’d be your weapon to solve the quest!

I told Mat exactly this a few months ago and he investigated this option already I believe.
@@laurentmoens2634 Well, I guess it would make little sense sending it from UK for both expenses and time required to ship and fix items. But now that he’s after the 911 so he’s going back in the US, that might make it worth it.
I would send it to UA-cam channel - Learn Electronics Repair. Or Mr Carlson's Lab, they would have a much better understanding of this sort of thing imo.
@@anthonydenn4345 Not sure if Mr Carlson would be interested in this. Not the type of electroniks he usually repairs. There are some insanely great YT channels but have an entirely different field of interest.
The Signal Path would also be able to repair this I guess but he does only lab equipment.
I wish my dad were still around to do such a project. Breaks my heart but makes me so happy to see this at the same time. I love your videos. Your talent...

Maybe it's me being too over the top, but I felt emotional when the engine went back in. All the hard work, all the annoying things that you and your dad went through, to see it going back in the body was such a relief and like I said, emotional!

Mat have you concidered making a custo introment cluster? I am not sure if your Lambo uses CANBAN or the old system but they are pretty easy to figure out after a few days work and you can get a fully electric cluster and add custom stuff to it like Carplay
I can't believe in all the time you've been waiting you haven't cleaned up the engine ancillaries. It's so disappointing given you're doing such a great job.
Inspiring stuff Mat. Truly inspiring. My Dad was a top mechanic, he even rebuilt the Merlin engine that was/is in the Manchester Air & Space Museum and I can hear him saying "That Mat he's a good lad!" Which, from Walter, is praise indeed

I think the vacuum in the inlet is to change the fuling pattern for 1 cold running or 2 low speed, Ian Tyrrell touched on this on one of his vids, he said it makes have more torque at low speeds.

Love your channel and content. I am a bit of a petrol head myself and cannot accept that you put that masterpiece of Italian engineering ( engine)together without cleaning the exterior of it. The rust on the starter motor and black dirt below intake manifolds and sides of the engine is driving me crazy. Still can’t wait for the next episode.

I really admire that you are fixing cars with your dad. Mine is in heaven since 2019 and we would do everything together. He is my best friend, superhero, role model, and the man I aspire to be like as I grow older. You are very blessed to have your father with you. I'm very grateful because you make me dream about these beautiful cars and being able to do this one day. Hopefully im blessed with kids in the near future so I may also do things like this with them. You're both amazing!
