Over 60 and just started to learn with a really good teacher but these vids and tips really helped me a lot so far. I like the no nonsense and practical way you share your ‘secrets’. Great work! Keep on going. Thanks! Belgium is watching ;)
One tip I heard that helped me get a change in pitch was tilting the front of the harmonica( that's in your mouth) down towards the floor and the other side goes up about 45 °. Yeah and I got my first bend on a G Hohner special 20, which is a pretty good one.
Any free options to harpninja? I know this harmonica tuner app for android that is free, wanted to know how much better harpninja would be :) Great lessons man, I've subscribed to your channel some time ago and always watch your lessons.
Yeah! You really don’t need a fancy tuner. Any chromatic tuner will do, there are apps and physical ones. It won’t show you a harmonica diagram, of course. But, you can reference a note chart so you will know that note you are aiming for so you can get it in tune while using the tuner.
I am having trouble with 10 hole blow bending on a C harp - I can get the 8 and 9, but on the 10 can't seem to get any leverage to even begin a bend to the B and Bb. Any thoughts?
Damn - been playing for several years now - and having a very bad time with bending. Your first technique just worked - possibly helped by all the attempts before - but hells, it worked for me. Now maybe I can start playing some of the blues I have to go to my strat for!
Learning harmonica is NOT like learning castinets...not one of the suggestions worked. Thought this would be easy, like in bending a guitar string (more mechanical).
Lol ya pisses us guitarist off we can't bend as easy as a string. I've picked up a lot of instruments after guitar and bending harmonica is one of the hardest technique to learn
Yo, I did it at draw like hell! 🤣 It was the click I needed to get that straw sucking feeling. I used a tuner and it seems I can bend the 3 draw a whole step, but still struggling to get the 4 draw right. Thanks for helping me break the ice.
Hi Jonah, 1 yr player here "Over 65" from the Gateway Harmonica Club in STL. I am introducing our Blues class to your videos in hopes of furthering our abilility to play some good Blues music! Thanks for the help! 👍
M8 I have a problem please. Is there anyone out there playing without teeth? As I actually doesn’t have one lol. Found it straggling to follow some advice as u use your mouth differently how ever I’m not giving up or using my denatures either prepared to walk the hard way. Any advice tips or hints please do thx
This may not be the case for you...but every person I’ve ever spoken to or heard from about bending says the opposite of you . As in A’s and G’s much harder than a c to bend on, I find it 1000% easier bending on a c than I do a G or A
Yeah, I realized that this wasn’t the case for most folks after I published this. It was definitely was better for me, I think it was because the motions that I was doing took a little less nuance, it just came easier on a G. I also am a tongue block player, that might have something to do with it.
@@HarmonicaRevolution I’m an intermediate player and haven’t really explored tongue blocking yet - that could be it, or part of it. Thanks for taking time to reply
Oh man, I have the exactly opposite experience. The lower the key is the harder it is to bend. C is easy for me, A is so so and G I must really try and the bends are not so clean...

After watching 20 Bend videos this one got me there. Your suggestion to do the reverse whistle technique worked.
Great lesson
Thanks! Glad I could help! If you found me on Facebook or Reddit, a share or an upvote would help me out a lot! ✌️
Thanks

It’s not free!
Bending with a KU sound and that not on a C harmonica, but on an A... GOLD!! (extra tip: Too instead of Ku works even better for me :-)

JFC these worked fucking instantly wtf. XD

Hi Iam a new learner
So this is how you play sharps and flats......?
Yes, to some extent, though there are still extra notes hidden that are only accessible with overblows/overdraws.

Thanks Jonah you are good teacher.
Thanks! Glad I could help 😁
great video as usual, who is playing the harmonica in the background ? please do you have the tabs? or a reference ? Thank you !
What I remember advising was capyure a single hole, and while drawing, lower the lower jaw.
When I try bending on my A & G harps they seem to get really airy ( definitely technique not harps im using Crossovers)
I could not figure out how to tongue block and bend before watching this, so thanks for the tip.
Thanks Jonah
Thanks, great stuff. Gappin' unveiled!
Hello from Wales. Watched many vids and could not get 2 to 6 to bend only 1, after watching you I get it . Cheers mate.

I don’t use my teeth at all. Not sure how missing them impacts things, but I imagine the change is minor
Hi! Excellent! Congrat's!
Great video, thanks
Jonah, you're a great teacher!!!
Respects
Great
