My mom who is 83 now told me that she would listen to this on the radio when she was a child. Last night she told me about it for me to listen to it. So here I am. Its sweet story.
I had this recording as a child I listened to it for Christmas after Christmas. Alas, lost it and I couldn't find another copy. Thank you most enjoyable.
@@jl4162 It's a pity that these stories are not heard by children today, at least I don't think they are the young are far to busy with I pads and other fancy stuff.
Brings me to tears every time I listen even though I am now 76! it still moves me. I Remember listening to this as a child. It was probably one of my early lessons on the meaning of true generosity.
A wonderful and inspiring story from a simpler time, told by the most lovely and talented Loretta Young. Brings me to tears every time I listen to it. I am lucky to have the original Decca Records release of this recording. Every young school child should listen to this classic story.
Oh, my heart has been so touched hearing this again. This was a Christmas tradition at our house, gathered around the old record player. What a blessing that you posted it, and I found it!
I had forgotten this sweet story. I am 77 and I remember my precious Aunt reading this story to my sister and I. She has passed now. It has brought bitter sweet/fond memories of Christmas. ❤
Playing this album was a Christmas tradition when I was very young. I could never find it with the narrator I remembered. Thank you very much for adding it to You Tube..
My grandmother from Utah used to read this to me from Reader's Digest while we lied in her huge soft bed. It has a wonderful meaning. Does anyone else have a box, like the one in the story? I do, but didn't remember this story until I had my own later. It has little treasures that mean so much; memories of special times. A Caribe sand dollar from my Caribbean vacations, Honey's shedded claw, Kitty's black whisker, a half clam shell I took from Lexington Res. on one of mine & Terry's special hike dates when we first met, a carpenter bee I found outside of the house in which we now live, a bee comb and the Sweet Smelling Oak Leaf that Honey gave to me the day of her funeral. ...and the Cedar box, itself, well that came from my grandmother's house after she passed. I took it to give to a cousin b/c it had a hummingbird on it & she liked hummingbirds. I didn't know then, that it was meant for me. It came full circle. It would never mean anything to anyone else.
I HAVE THIS RECORD LOL, OUR FAMILY WOULD SIT AROUND CHRISTMAS EVE AND LISTEN TO IT. WHAT MEMORIES. :) THANKS FOR POSTING THIS. BUT WHY SINCE ITS A LITTLE BOY ANGELS, IS THE PICTURE OF A GIRL?
I used to listen to this every night before I went to sleep. I'm so glad to have found a piece of my childhood.
Still as beautiful as the first time I heard it. Thank you so much for sharing! Wishing us all peace
