🔥Homemade AM radio based on vacuum tubes and a regenerative coil configuration. It uses 2P2 tubes and it has low power output but it works and we can receive AM radio channels. Learn how it works, see the schematic and test it out.

I really love tube circuits. One of these days I'll get around to finishing the tube amp that I was making with magic eye tubes to show the levels on the two channels. I don't really need it, but I have very fond memories of a radio my grandparents had that used magic eye meters that I was absolutely fascinated with as a kid. There's not of devices left these days with those style of level meters that are still working or reasonably restorable, but the magic eye tubes are all over eBay fortunately.
Vintage circuits can make a very good series.
Please make this series.
Seeing this video, i realise how much i miss you, your amazing videos and accent.
I have been away working on my own channel. Feels good to see you my friend.
Love the projects!!!
Wish you all the best .. hard working and very smart guy
Great video thanks
Cool project !
Love this project, next should be on FM transmiter 😍😍😍😍😍
Nice video!
Love it !!👌👌👌
That was cool Bro 👍 yes it's fascinating ;)
Pcbway es carisma!
A lot valves use transformers in the audio output which might account for low volumes. Just a thought. Great to see you try out things that take you into new areas.
Excelent project
In this style of radio the iron core is the directional antenna, so it would make sense that you touching it will help with gain.
The audio output of these circuits are typically high impedance at least 2k ohm or higher. If you were to use a crystal radio earpiece without the transformer you may have had better results. Or earbuds after the transformer would have worked as well.
The 3 tube set will allow you to drive a speaker
COOOOOOL!!♡♡♡
Esta bueno :v bro saludos 💪😉
Nice project! Your anode supply voltage is very low causing distortion and low output power. These valves are typically suitable for 70 to 90V.
Please make a walkie talkie in vhf range
niceeeeee❤
Nice video 👌👌 please do guitar 🎸 amplifier
You could use 3 PP3 batteries taking the supply up to 27v. Also check the load impedance of the 2P2 and the turns ratio of the transformer and see what impedance speaker you will need. Using the wrong speaker can really mess things up as well. All in all it looks an interesting start for experimentation.
mantap, keren
i was watching your "make an arduino at home" and i have some questions
Hi I like watching your every video
And I have tried most of them
If you can please upload video based on
Induction cooker how it's circuit works
And how to make a diy Induction cooker
For finding the MHz you can do 1/2xπ√LxC
L(inductance) C(capacitance)
Sir this is really nice project. Try to improve audio quality and Also try to make a radio transmitter. Please don't forget to make a video explaining the uses of capacitors and how to use them in circuits effectively.
Love from India ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can you make a tutorial on how to use Nrf24L01 with Esp32 Dev kit
I have a couple of 6cb6a vacuum tubes Can i use them for this project?
what do the tubes do on the radio?
Description and circuit for 2-tube Man from Mars Radio Hat from 1948 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_hat
my dream project please make transmitter am and fm thxxx
"let's ged starteth"
👍👍.
nano-micro vacuum tubes as transistors
Are you living in Spain?
Como no saturaste más la señal a las válvulas y sacar el audio con chicha y más saturación en la remodelación.., después filtrar con condensadores.... Casi ni me acuerdo cómo eran esas viejas radios am de valvulas
Any tube transistor
Like someone said you need an AM antenna.
Noice
I need the board. Can you give me
How design my own smsp circuit
How to convert EZ80 TO DIODE PL DIGRAM .
use a better speaker for a better result
I think the device would work better if you ran it with more than 9 volts, since tubes are high impedance devices they will work poor with low voltage plus you get very little power out of it as well which tend to distort. too bad in my country AM radio is not available at all so it is pretty much useless here
I will try. I've used them at 12V but I was afraid with more than that since the schematic was marked as 9V. Thanks!
@@ELECTRONOOBS as long as your capacitors are rated for the voltage these DL92 tubes are rated for a maximum plate voltage of 90 volts. And the G2 grid should not exceed 67 volts so the tubes have a good headroom upwards. However does these tubes have a very small output with a maximum of about 270 milliwatt at absolute most so you won’t get much. However is the power increasing with the voltage. But check that your resistors are suitable for the increased voltage so that the led and other stuff won’t take damage. Otherwise you could probably safely go up to 60 volts without any issues :)
@@Pulverrostmannen Easy solution is to just omit the LEDs, actual (old school) audiophiles consider LEDs under tubes like putting cheap ketchup on fine sushi.
@@NiHaoMike64 ha ha I know right? I have built several tube amps and have a complete hifi system which I built myself and I didn’t use any LEDs to light my tubes. It’s better to use tubes that glows much to begin with instead ;) that we all like to watch! Nothing like 500 volts feeding tubes glowing with red hot cathodes. Omg I like that!
60 volt dc 10 amp electronic load tester circuit without arduino
Am I the only one who is surprised by the low 9V power supply for a tube? That's way too low. Even for a tube rated at only 60V.
that speaker is not so good - I've tried them in projects... try better ones
That speaker is not good option
This might have been 100% a waste of time.
Why? This is great information to learn. If the Internet goes down, knowing how radios function and how to make one is invaluable.
You are telling lies want you try running your motors forward and backwards
