Had to come back and watch this again. Jetstorm is the perfect twisted form of Silverbolt. You can see he wants all the same things as Silverbolt: loves to fight, flirts with Blackarachnia, is very loud and proud of his job. Yet, the way he goes about getting those things is the malicious way and he's been stripped of his code of honor. I love Jetstorm.

Waspinator was cowardly, sickly, and comedic, Thrust is calm, cool, collected, and edgy(heck he even lampshades this when he reveals who he is). Rhinox is a genius and would rather sniff the flowers than trample Preds, Tankor is a moron who is pretty much only capable of fighting.

When I first watched this show 20 years ago, I was a sensitive and idealistic teenage girl, who was always dreaming about good winning over evil. Therefore, I could not stand the sight and sound of our sadistic maniac general, Jetstorm. 20 years later, in my mid 30s, I'm so grateful that I'm still able to watch the show, love it even more than 20 years ago, and enjoy it through adult eyes. Brian did an outstanding job! His voice acting is beyond any talent. His snarl is simply orgasmic. I never get enough, no matter how many times I watch his scenes and listen to his lines. He's a wonderful villain, the delicious type of villain that Megatron was in BW.
I know this series is unpopular... But this series did wonders for Megatron and Primal's character arcs. Not to mention that every single vehicon general is a treat! Jetstorm and Thrust especially!

Your bad grammar aside, even you have to admit that none of the remaining Maximals acted in line with their established characterization; there wasn't even any in-show explanation for the changes. Everything that might have hinted at that kind of thing is something fans have to come up with on their own; Optimus MIGHT have been brainwashed by the Oracle, to make him act so ridiculously out of character; Blackarachnia MIGHT have been shell-shocked enough to give up on her proud "bad girl" persona; Rhinox WAS probably brainwashed out of being the gentle-sparked nature-lover we got to know in Beast Wars; but that's all speculation. Really, the only characters the show doesn't get wrong with regards to personality are the ones they created themselves; that's why it would have been better if they'd focused on either a new team of Maximals, leaving the Beast Wars as a sort of legend like Beast Wars itself did for G1 Transformers, or else as a new, unrelated IP.
It's not a good continuation; it doesn't do the past characters justice, and while it COULD have been good if they'd used a new team, they didn't. It's too bad, but that's what happened.
Now that I think about it, Blackarachnia is probably the scariest girlfriend ever. She captured Jetstorm and forced him to change. Scary shit right there.

Megatron forced him to change first although it was implied that Megatron simply explored the dark side of his mind since he said that he enjoyed it and because of that after Blackarachnia changed him back to Silverbolt, he was never the same again. He is now more conscious of what lies inside of him.

@@alexlemonds2838 so i've been thinking of making a revised version of Beast Machines (as a fanfic. i have neither the talent nor the resources of Hasbro.)and one of the changes i came up with occurs when Jetstorm reverts to Silverbolt. you see, i have a headcanon that Rhinox and Tankor are essentially separate entities despite sharing the same spark-alternate personalities, you could say-and that an alignment shift on one causes the other personality to shift as well (this is my explanation for Rhinox turning evil. basically when Optimus Primal reached out to Tankor and turned him against the main villain-who in my story is NOT MEGATRON-this action caused the Rhinox personality to turn evil.). this information is key to understanding my idea. you know how Black Arachnia was concerned when Jetstorm resisted the reformatting process? well, in my take on Beast Machines, Jetstorm's resistance had actual consequences. in short, Jetstorm, through sheer willpower, caused Silverbolt's spark to be divided in half, with one half being Jetstorm himself, while the other half is the brooding edgelord Silverbolt we got in the show, since that's who he is without the part of his personality that Jetstorm is comprised of. anyway, throughout the rest of the story, Jetstorm continues to fight for the antagonist by possessing the body of one of his drones, though he constantly struggles with his spark being "pulled" towards Silverbolt in order to rejoin with it's other half-something which Jetstorm obviously doesn't want to happen. to avoid this, he essentially transfers repeatedly from drone to drone in order to reset the time he has before his spark starts being pulled back towards Silverbolt. this all comes to an end in the final battle, where Black Arachnia and Silverbolt face off against Jetstorm and an as of yet undetermined number of aerial drones, with Jetstorm, as usual hopping between bodies while taunting Silverbolt, making the occasional flirtatious comment towards Black Arachnia, and generally being his chaotic self. eventually the fight ends with Silverbolt and Jetstorm sacrificing themselves to keep Black Arachnia safe from....something (maybe Bruticus, as in my version of the story, the villain called back the combaticons to fight the Maximals alongside the army of vehicons), leaving them both barely alive. what follows is some dialogue where Silverbolt and Jetstorm, in a classic "i'm nothing without you" fashion, finally admit that neither one can exist without the other, and Silverbolt acknowledges Jetstorm as having always been a part of him. Jetstorm then finally allows his half of their spark to merge with the other half, thus restoring the Silverbolt we know from Beast Wars.

Jetstorm is like one of my most favorite villains in the Transformers series along with Starscream, Steeljaw, Barricade, Lockdown, Inferno (Beast Wars), Waspinator (Beast Wars), Swindle, Knockout, Shockwave, Underbite, Thrust, Obsidian & Strika, Quickstrike, Terrorsaur, Blitzwing, Sideways etc!
They could have saved this character if they'd brought back Silverbolt _as he was,_ and not as the overbrooding edgelord we got, and let him keep Jetstorm's body.
I love how Jetstorm's voice changes from his usual campy, irreverent, over-dramatic tone to a raspy growl when he says something violent or angry. It's a great way to emphasize how sadistic he is under all that silliness. He easily carries the first season of the show on his shoulders. Beast Machines feels like the writers were at war with themselves and changing ideas as they wrote the scripts, and it's obvious with the dynamic of the three Vehicon generals. Thrust became a lot more like Jetstorm after the reveal that Jetstorm is Silverbolt, because Thrust as originally written just wasn't able to carry the role of the main bad guy under Megatron. In turn, Jetstorm became more like Thrust.
Yeah, I loved that about Jetstorm too. For some reason the maximal in the show seemed like the writers were trying to make them all too edgy. Even now when I watch them I sort of cringe at a lot of their lines. It's no wonder that even as a kid I was rooting for Jetstorm to win everytime he showed up on screen.
Though I haven't watched much Beast Machines, this guy's the only character I liked in that controversial series! I wonder how Jetstorm would sound like as a guest commentator in the Melbourne Cup? :D
..... It's saying something when I _practically know his lines word for freakin' word..._ I find that highly amusing. Random note, I was/am actually pretty decent at imitating his voice; the only thing I just couldn't quite get was that *snarl* that he gets to his voice when he either yells or says something venomous. Other than that, I can do most of his usual speaking tones, and his less theatrical laugh he sometimes uses. The only reason I can't do the theatrical "OOAH HA HA HA" is it's just too goddamn funny for me to get through. XD It's just TACKY any way you slice it! Then again, that's just Jetstorm all over, isn't it? XD

Those two MADE the series. I almost completely stopped watching when Jetstorm got forcibly reformatted into Silverbolt... Still have a grudge against the bird, actually... =_= They tried to have some of the comedy carry over into Thrust in his stead, but... It just didn't quite work right. :c

This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Jetstorm My All Time Favorite Vechicon in Transformers Beast Machine and Brian Drummond did an Incredible Performance Bringing This Awesome Vechicon to Life.
+BLADESTER128 Bad Series, Horrific Transformation sequences, Articulating Jet Nose and Mouth While Jetstorm was in Jet Mode, the only good thing was the fact that his transformation code was "Jetstorm, AFTERBURN!" Beast Wars was Much Better, even Animated is better than this series...BUT and a HUGE BUT, I will also say that the voice actors are great as Optimus and Megatron's voice actors also appeared in not only BW and BM, but Armada, Energon and Cybertron and I love their voice acting jobs...Shoot even Megatron's voce actor did Optimus in Animated.

Like how Sky-Byte is practically the main representative of the Robots in Disguise anime from the early 2000's due to his popularity, I feel Jetstorm is the same for Machines due to being the most well-received character from the show. So this incarnation of Jetstorm has the most likely chance of being used again by whatever future show or comic, hopefully with his brutal wit & dark sense of humor kept intact.

So, any X-Factor fans out there that caught that Jetstorm/Silverbolt is basically the Death/Archangel storyline? Hero captured by a main villain who brainwashed and reconfigured him into a deadlier twist on his original design. When he breaks free, he’s a much more intense and effective hero who vows personal vengeance. He even has wing blades that he throws. Love both, just saying, it’s there.
What I liked is that he wasn't using "calmness" or "peaceful thoughts" to transform...he was using his rage to focus himself. He's like a Sith Transformers to their Jedi

so i've been thinking of making a revised version of Beast Machines (as a fanfic. i have neither the talent nor the resources of Hasbro.)and one of the changes i came up with occurs when Jetstorm reverts to Silverbolt. you see, i have a headcanon that Rhinox and Tankor are essentially separate entities despite sharing the same spark-alternate personalities, you could say-and that an alignment shift on one causes the other personality to shift as well (this is my explanation for Rhinox turning evil. basically when Optimus Primal reached out to Tankor and turned him against the main villain-who in my story is NOT MEGATRON-this action caused the Rhinox personality to turn evil.). this information is key to understanding my idea. you know how Black Arachnia was concerned when Jetstorm resisted the reformatting process? well, in my take on Beast Machines, Jetstorm's resistance had actual consequences. in short, Jetstorm, through sheer willpower, caused Silverbolt's spark to be divided in half, with one half being Jetstorm himself, while the other half is the brooding edgelord Silverbolt we got in the show, since that's who he is without the part of his personality that Jetstorm is comprised of. anyway, throughout the rest of the story, Jetstorm continues to fight for the antagonist by possessing the body of one of his drones, though he constantly struggles with his spark being "pulled" towards Silverbolt in order to rejoin with it's other half-something which Jetstorm obviously doesn't want to happen. to avoid this, he essentially transfers repeatedly from drone to drone in order to reset the time he has before his spark starts being pulled back towards Silverbolt. this all comes to an end in the final battle, where Black Arachnia and Silverbolt face off against Jetstorm and an as of yet undetermined number of aerial drones, with Jetstorm, as usual hopping between bodies while taunting Silverbolt, making the occasional flirtatious comment towards Black Arachnia, and generally being his chaotic self. eventually the fight ends with Silverbolt and Jetstorm sacrificing themselves to keep Black Arachnia safe from....something (maybe Bruticus, as in my version of the story, the villain called back the combaticons to fight the Maximals alongside the army of vehicons), leaving them both barely alive. what follows is some dialogue where Silverbolt and Jetstorm, in a classic "i'm nothing without you" fashion, finally admit that neither one can exist without the other, and Silverbolt acknowledges Jetstorm as having always been a part of him. Jetstorm then finally allows his half of their spark to merge with the other half, thus restoring the Silverbolt we know from Beast Wars.

Jetstorm is like one of my most favorite villains in the Transformers series along with Starscream, Steeljaw, Barricade, Lockdown, Inferno (Beast Wars), Waspinator (Beast Wars), Swindle, Knockout, Shockwave, Underbite, Thrust, Obsidian & Strika, Quickstrike, Terrorsaur, Blitzwing, Sideways etc!
What an intro to a character. "One. we're not drones. Two, we're not mindless. And three, *Problem's* my middle name."

They could have saved this character if they'd brought back Silverbolt _as he was,_ and not as the overbrooding edgelord we got, and let him keep Jetstorm's body.

My favorite character in Beast Machines. Kind of reminds me of Deadpool, if he was evil and if he was a Vehicon.
Beast machines was such a dark and griddy show so it was nice to have a hilarious character like jetstorm around

I love how Jetstorm's voice changes from his usual campy, irreverent, over-dramatic tone to a raspy growl when he says something violent or angry. It's a great way to emphasize how sadistic he is under all that silliness. He easily carries the first season of the show on his shoulders.
Beast Machines feels like the writers were at war with themselves and changing ideas as they wrote the scripts, and it's obvious with the dynamic of the three Vehicon generals. Thrust became a lot more like Jetstorm after the reveal that Jetstorm is Silverbolt, because Thrust as originally written just wasn't able to carry the role of the main bad guy under Megatron. In turn, Jetstorm became more like Thrust.
Yeah, I loved that about Jetstorm too. For some reason the maximal in the show seemed like the writers were trying to make them all too edgy. Even now when I watch them I sort of cringe at a lot of their lines. It's no wonder that even as a kid I was rooting for Jetstorm to win everytime he showed up on screen.

..... It's saying something when I _practically know his lines word for freakin' word..._ I find that highly amusing.
Random note, I was/am actually pretty decent at imitating his voice; the only thing I just couldn't quite get was that *snarl* that he gets to his voice when he either yells or says something venomous. Other than that, I can do most of his usual speaking tones, and his less theatrical laugh he sometimes uses. The only reason I can't do the theatrical "OOAH HA HA HA" is it's just too goddamn funny for me to get through. XD It's just TACKY any way you slice it! Then again, that's just Jetstorm all over, isn't it? XD

They tried to have some of the comedy carry over into Thrust in his stead, but... It just didn't quite work right. :c
Agreed on all counts. While Thrust was awesome, he was not comic relief and wasn't designed as such. And you're right, it didn't quite work out.

+BLADESTER128 Bad Series, Horrific Transformation sequences, Articulating Jet Nose and Mouth While Jetstorm was in Jet Mode, the only good thing was the fact that his transformation code was "Jetstorm, AFTERBURN!" Beast Wars was Much Better, even Animated is better than this series...BUT and a HUGE BUT, I will also say that the voice actors are great as Optimus and Megatron's voice actors also appeared in not only BW and BM, but Armada, Energon and Cybertron and I love their voice acting jobs...Shoot even Megatron's voce actor did Optimus in Animated.

Like how Sky-Byte is practically the main representative of the Robots in Disguise anime from the early 2000's due to his popularity, I feel Jetstorm is the same for Machines due to being the most well-received character from the show. So this incarnation of Jetstorm has the most likely chance of being used again by whatever future show or comic, hopefully with his brutal wit & dark sense of humor kept intact.

It would’ve been better if after he was hit by the green goo silverbolt and jetstorm were separated into 2 different beings
He and Rattrap always had the best lines in the show.

Hero captured by a main villain who brainwashed and reconfigured him into a deadlier twist on his original design. When he breaks free, he’s a much more intense and effective hero who vows personal vengeance. He even has wing blades that he throws.
Love both, just saying, it’s there.
What I liked is that he wasn't using "calmness" or "peaceful thoughts" to transform...he was using his rage to focus himself. He's like a Sith Transformers to their Jedi
