Haha! What a compliment. I was talking to my mom yesterday about watercolor and she asked me why I posted the tutorial image of this rose on my Instagram Story instead of the one I painted. I told her that WAS the one I painted! She thought it was an image of your photo. I know mine doesn't quite have the depth yours does, but hey, I'll take it! 😁 Honestly I've only played around with watercolor here and there so I'm fairly pleased with the results I've gotten by following your tutorials! Thanks for a beautiful painting that my mom wants to hang on her wall (I'm 41, but still a momma's girl!)
Awww that’s wonderful. High praise from your mom. I can see why she liked it. I agree with your mom that you’ve done an amazing job x
Hi from South African vloggers 🇿🇦 😀 ❤️ 🌍
This is a really beautiful painting Rae! I will study it several more times before I attempt to paint it. Your tutorial is so helpful! Thank you ! I’ve learned a number of different and helpful techniques just from this video alone. Lovely work ! 💕
Thank you very much Diane x
When I was a florist, we had roses like this & its name was the Confetti rose. Customers loved it very much. Your painting is beautiful & brought back lovely memories!
Aw thank you. Gosh I had no idea that was its name. 🥰
My favorite rose ever.. thank you. Doris Jeff Tucson az usa
Aww thank you x
Hi Helen! This rose is sooo beautiful! love those with colored edges, they look magical! Enjoyed your tutorial, you explained everything well :) I will definitely try this one! thank you and have a wonderful day! Marija 😊✨✨
Hi Marija. Thank you so much for your kind comments. I really enjoyed painting this rose. This is one that I photographed myself and I had a lot of fun doing the photography too. have a good day X
@@helencampbell thank you! :)
Reminds me of watching my mom paint:) love your work!
Thank you
Beautiful painting Helen; what a brilliant idea about the water in the palette. Ive never ever thought of doing that. I think it will make it easier and more controlled for me as i tend to wet the paper too much. Thanks so much. Xx
My pleasure Louise. It’s the little things isn’t it lol xx
THANK YOU💜🌹An awesome tutorial💜🌹
Thank you 😊
So we’ll guided and so detailed.. I m so much in love 😍
Thank you for your kind comments
Amazing work and you teach it so well. Been wanting to try botanicals for a while. Now more than ever after watching you.
Thank you Marie x
Interesting! I tried to join the Facebook group answering/agreeing to the rules but got declined 😢
@@marievaillant216 hi. So sorry about this. Please retry. We have filters on and it may be a glitch. We’d love to have you join us
@@helencampbell third time worked 😂
@@marievaillant216 lol third time lucky
Thank you for sharing your techniques of this beautiful botanical rose. I just start watercolors and it so different of the oil painting.
Thank you. It’s very different to oil painting. But once you get the hang of it it’s such a wonderful medium
Rose painting is quite difficult to me. But thank you. You make it so easy. Awesome.
My pleasure - give it a try, you may find it easier than you think - plus its all about practice xx
Helen, this is so delicate and beautiful!! I LOVE IT and I've hit the LIKE button as soon as I've started watching!!! Your work continues to amaze and inspire me!! Thank-you for sharing this with all of us 🤗🤗👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
thank you very much Dr Bee - I am so glad that you are continuing to enjoy my work xxx
I love these color choices for the rose, so pretty :)
Thank you very much
Thank you, Helen, yet another lovely tutorial. This rose is particularly pretty as I think the combo of colors is gorgeous. Don’t you love the Schminke paints. (I’m sure I misspelled the name. It is my ‘bete noir' of brands to spell.). You don’t specify which paper you used. I enjoy Arches cold pressed the most. It is kindest to a novice. Thank you again.
Thank you very much. The paper should be in the written description in the box underneath. I love them too but my absolute fav are A Gallo x
Gorgeous
My challenge: How to mix a shadow color for flowers in a warm pink. I tried perm rose and windsor violet but it's too cool.
Add a lot more water
@@helencampbell Thank you! I will try that. I always find it a challenge to get dark enough shadows without changing the temperature of the original palette.
I am learning a lot from your tutorials and Patreon videos.
Thank you Renee
I just finished watching your rose tutorial. It is gorgeous. I have been into flowers lately and am trying to learn all I can. Of course you are helping me.
If I may ask please, what brushes do you use. I can't seem to get the name of them. Hope you don't mind me asking.
I found your brushes and sorry I did not look before.
Hi Malia. I’m glad you found the link to the brushes thank you for your kind comments
I love all your tutorials. You are always so encouraging. My only issue is I’m not on Facebook, so I don’t have access to your line drawings and reference photo. Is there another way to access these materials? Thank you.
Hi. I can’t post them here sorry. If you email me I can do it that way if there’s anything in particular you’d like
Hi Helen, I’m enjoying your tutorials (just discovered you) and was wondering if you have the rose tutorials without ads on Patreon?
Hi. The Patreon tutorials are more in-depth. No ads but different subjects to UA-cam. Still botanical but I never do the same as I want to give patrons a unique tutorial
@@helencampbell Thank you for your prompt response. I have become a patron and I’m looking forward to learning from you.
@@janiceseward585 thank you so much Janice. There are quite a few on there now so I hope you enjoy them. I’m always on hand if you get stuck plus we now have mini weekly vlog type videos that you may enjoy. No extra cost xx
You’re welcome and I appreciate that.
Hi Rae, this is so beautiful! Thanks for the tutorial. Could you share what type of paper did you use? Thank you 😊
Hi Nat. Normally I write in the description but I’ve obviously forgotten this time LOL this is a mixed media paper, I prefer using it because it makes the blending process easier but generally, I just use ordinary watercolour paper at 300 GSM
@@helencampbell Thank you, I can’t wait to paint this! 😀
Hi Nat. I’ve just got home and doublechecked. I painted that particular tutorial on 300 GSM HP, which is hot pressed paper although the mixed media one that I suggested earlier would work just as well. The hot press means it’s smooth but really, any smooth watercolour paper will do or what ever you prefer
Please, where can I find the traceable?
You need to join our Facebook group, details are underneath every video. I can’t post it here unfortunately but you’ll find the link there. Once you’ve joined, all the traceables are there in the media/album at the top of the page
