I never saw „Outlander“, but I met the guy while on holiday in New Zealand 2011 - he was preparing for the „Hobbit“. A genuinely nice person, down to earth, friendly - it was great to talk to him. All the best!
Love him or hate him Dougal was the full embodiment of a War Chief. Never fully trust his wheeling and dealing. Great video of Jacobite Dougal MacKenzie
Dougal was one of my favorite characters. You can see where Jamie got some of his bravery from but it had just enough shade to be compelling. All while, there's something dubious about him that intrigued me. In the end his reverent belief is still compelling.

He shoud have become chief of clan after death of his brother. And Jamie and Claire should have told him the truth about the time travel instead of killing him :(
I only know the Tv series, not the books. But what happened was right, it went to Colum’s heir as it should. Dougal was probably too narrow minded to take time travel seriously and would’ve had Claire trialled as a witch. As chief, he would’ve been terrible and wasted Mackenzies lives at Culloden. Colum and Jamie knew this too.

Dougal was a wonderful character. He had his flaws but thats the man I'd want standing beside me going into battle. An absolute warrior.
