Embraced within the nostalgic colonial architecture, Straits Residences is located in Seri Tanjung Pinang, which is the pinnacle for real estate in Penang. Plus it's also leveraging on the established Straits Quay mall where the residents can enjoy the convenience.
Marina properties is a whole different category altogether internationally. Hence, this area has been well received by the international market to the extend of RM 1400 psf. However, it was affected by the covid as their main target audience couldn't get through the borders.
I'm delighted with the architectural treatments and usage of materials within the unit, especially the bathrooms. That unique mix and match with plaster & paint is very fresh, instead of that usual full height wall tiles. The finishing standards is easily comparable to 5 star hotels.
As this is a hot address, there is an ongoing reclamation project that might cause lots of noise with their construction vehicles that will directly pass through the project.
Finally a UA-camr who knows his stuff about realestate! Nicely done

Thanks for the review. It brought back a lot of old memories. the reason why it is low dense is because it is built on reclaimed land. Used to be a beach area. Was lucky to be around before they reclaimed the area because i saw one of the most intriguing natural
phenomenon on that particular beach area. While I was walking on the beach, i noticed that a part of beach was like "moving". Upon closer inspection, it was not the floor that was really "moving" but tons of fiddler cards (small crab with one big claw and one small claw) waving their claws in unison. The bad part was , my friends and I used to catch them and blow them up with firecrackers. Apart from that, the 2004 tsunami also struck in that area.
Evil bastards. The lot of you.

Wow, beautiful! I'm a native of Santa Monica, California (Los Angeles beach city) so wherever I live I want to be close to the ocean. So the MM2H is not available anymore? I was hoping to retire in Malaysia (probably as a renter) and meet Sean!!
I guess it will be back soon after the pandemic situation is under control internationally. And I'll be so happy if we could meet too hahaha=)
Thanks for the review. I've stayed at Straits Quay several times and hope to retire there in two years. But this was the first video I've seen on Straits Residences so now I may consider that as well. Lots of time to think it over, until the pandemic is gone and we can come back to Malaysia.

Hey Sean! Great video. Would have loved to see the facilities and your signature, refuse room 😄 FYI, Straits Quay is on reclaimed land. Water came up to the main road coming into Straits Quay when tsunami happened in 2004.
Aaron Fridays if u know where Tesco is, the main road, further down there is a curve of the road heading to Batu Ferringhi, water came up to that road

But you should give some estimates of when the project will be completed. The rooftop view will be incredible.
And yes, the reclamation project could be an issue. Not a place for late sleepers.
If the units are facing Marina, then it won’t be an issue.

is because that was just a showroom, the actual building will only complete at begin of 2021.

that one totally different standard, among whole Penang Island, straits quay still the best Seaview with international environment.

@@iherng -Do you think theprogram is going to revise minimum investment on housing and othere eligibility to tighten the program. I hope not and wish had signed up for the programme earlier. I think the govt wants to tighten the influx of Chinese govt spies and nationals taking over and interfering with the govt and expanding their base to other countries.

How would you compare this to Queens Residences? Not as prestigious an area but Queens is true waterfront (not just "view") and is 5 mins walk to Queensbay Mall (largest in Penang). Unfortunately the shops in Straits Quay Mall are slowly closing and Straits Residences is a serviced apartment (meaning Airbnb allowed, no dry yard, less parking space allocation, etc.) Appreciate your thoughts.
Queensbay Mall is a more suitable local ppl / own stay purpose. There are also close to Penang industrial zone , if u take a look closely at the current master plan, there will be another 30k-40k density residential coming up.
Straits Quay is a place more to the international zone, international school, brands, medical center which very convenient to foreign investors. Is not hard to feel the difference of the standard for this 2 location.
