@@carolinekaplan542 remember it would be less than that. The crew should be on deck 2 but because this is an old ship, those tiny cabins were outfitted with 4 bunks. They are redoing those cabins (the only cabins on the ship that are actually being remodeled) to be for 2 crew rather than 4 . So the crew is currently on deck 3 which is intended for passengers. The passengers who bought or booked those cheapest deck 3 cabins are temporarily staying on deck 4. Therefore when the crew is moved back to deck 2, quite a lot of deck 3 cabins are going to become available so the booking percentage is much less than 70% of the actual cabins onboard.
Just found you as well. Following three or four VVR couples. Hoping it will sail soon. I know you recorded this in August but sea trials took place last week and I guess it didn’t go well. Do you know if the ship is back in dry dock or just docked still in the water? Also, any news on what the problem is from the trials?
@Migraham22 VV posted that during the engine load test " it showed a sensor issue between the bridge and ECR, which has then resulted in us needing to re-test the single engine". Now whether or not that is the only thing I couldn't say. An engine load test and correct sensors do seem a wee bit important especially since when they sail they are going straight to the Caribbean during hurricane season in a year predicted to have more, stronger and more quickly strengthening storms than average. The ship isn't in dry dock which it left end of July and went to the ship repair quay so work continued as it was on the water. Now the positive news is that Port of Belfast shows the Sea Trial 2 tomorrow- out at 8am and back at 1pm. Port of Belfast schedule has been changed many numerous number of times and always uber last minute but it seems to be quite scheduled at present.
Oopsie, typed too soon. Middle of the night tonight in Belfast they changed the sea trials. It's now postponed and scheduled for 9/21 out at 8am and returning next day 9/22 at 1pm.
I wish you all the best but there are already WAY too many 🚩with this whole saga. Lots of undelivered promises already. If you want to go cruising around the world (in a much better ship BTW) just go and book with an established cruiseline with ships that are actually operating. It would be a lot cheaper for a start and with much less risk to your long term financial security.
How will those Amazon vans….or indeed any physical post items find you, once you depart? I imagine any scripts would organised prior….what is the cost of those medications through the ship?
@@baysideharpy8350I understand, but sailing with others doesn’t have the itinerary we have or the stays in port longer than a day. This will happen and the ship is beautiful. The people onboard are diverse and amazing as we all have one goal, to see the world. It is quite a lot cheaper than going with other cruise lines. Life is an adventure and we are living it. Kind regards Kat 😻.
@@MrScotnofriendswe have all been buying up from Amazon to get our villas/cabins ready. They get sent to pick up points in Belfast. When the itinerary kicks in, we can do that too. We are also able to post stuff to a central point in America, and once a month they will send to the ship. We have not had to buy medication on board yet.

@@TheKiwiOdyssey yeah- this is no reflection on the crew or the food. I'm sure the crew are excellent and are doing their jobs. Here's the rub- the crew are only on for three month contracts. If you have cruised before- crew members have six month contracts (officers mainly, and cruise directors) the rest of the crew do 9 month contracts. This is on every cruise line out there. For the crew to have three month contracts tells me that they aren't planning for the ship to sail. It costs a lot to fly crew to and fro- and to train them. Three month contracts are a huge red flag. But the delays (and the not being upfront about the amount of work) are very obvious red flags. Mike says"uniforms will be worn when the ship sails" and "cabins will be refurbished when the ship sails" and "the culinary arts classroom was a fire hazard" . So many things are to be done later. the pool is not filled. You are not allowed to actually move onto the ship. when they kick you off and take the ship out for sea trials, what is to stop then from sailing to another country with your money never to be seen again.
The ship is mostly owned by the residents that’s why. While things have taken a lot longer to come to fruition, I’m grateful to know I’ll be on a ship the has been tested from top to bottom. I signed up for an adventure, and the that is what we are getting. They are look after us really well.
Aloha Kiwi Odyssey, just found your channel. I have some good friends, (Johan and Lanette) sailing with you and they have a youtube channel also. I will follow along your journey to get your perspective. Good luck and happy sailing
Great idea for a local cafe. Love the street art too
Just found you guys, making it 3 UA-camr on the Odessey that I’m following as I have a good friend that is also on board (or will be).
Me too! So excited to watch your journey.
New subscriber. Looking forward to watching this journey with you.
I would be so afraid of the ship company going bankrupt
We are founders, we are in good shape and will be leaving soon. Adventure of a lifetime.Kat😻

Will the Odyssey ever cruise as promised??? It's an interesting story in any event. DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY REGRETS AFTER 4 MONTHS OF NOT SAILING?????
Thank you for asking. Yes it will sail, and absolutely no regrets at all. Totally enjoying the ability to work and travel. Thanks Kat😻
Good luck…..😮

Very interesting, so you only know part of the story😻
What is the plan for your health care above what the ship can do? What insurance that goes around the world?
We have currently got travel insurance with cruise insurance for one year. We took it out with Cover More, not cheap but necessary

Awwww just sad
There are several other You Tubers on this ship. Have you met the others?
Yes I have. We all are on a new journey and have a different style, it’s really cool.
Yet more delays, still not got its fire certification.. this is the Fyre Festival of cruising. The buffet looks average not cruise ship standard.
Actually the food is amazing and I’m pretty fussy. With new stuff daily.
