  • Well, it ran, and then it didn’t 😄
3d printed steel diff parts this time, but they loosened up quick - probably wouldn’t have noticed on the pavement 🤷‍♂️

Man I’ve heard of/seen some of those kits online but never seen one in person - if you do decide to build one up it’d sure be cool as hell if you’d make a video!!! Would love to see that - you got some special goodies there 👍👍👍

Man, sorry it still isn’t running right. Without the sound it looks good on that field but man… that doesn’t sound pretty.😒

Yeah bro it’s not where I want it to be for sure - I’ll keep farting around with it 😂

A Awd RC 10 is awesome in concept but it's gonna need some work!

WOW... About 25 to 35 years ago, I remember the campaign that TEAM Associated was doing to make a drop in "conversion Kit" from 2wd to AWD, belt drive system and it was a complete disaster and never got it right.. This is really COOL that you have picked up the reigns of this old campaign to see if you could make it happen.. while keeping the front suspension design / look intact. This was really cool to see. a wee bit more work, with today's technology like 3D printers and small home hobby machining ability's I think you can make this happen. I wish I remember what that sub-title was called for the RC-10 drop-in AWD or 4WD kit was called. You can look into the achieve of Google for old RC CAR ACTION magazines from the mid to late 80's for the articles of their "COMING SOON" add's and "STILL NOT QUITE THERE YET" articles... which, if I remember correctly, that was about the time, that several new chassis's hit the market from other brands and I suppose, the mission was dropped. perhaps, "why bother?" when there is already on the shelves, 4WD kits that can be had for cheap or cheaper then what the cost of the drop-in conversion kit would cost? Either way, I really look forwards to seeing what you come up with on making it strong, and reliable. I can't stress enough, how cool this is to see somebody in the world, saying, "I MUST MAKE THIS HAPPEN". Just because you can. Well done.

Man I really appreciate the comment 100% - I’m planning to order diff & pulley parts through xometry this week so hopefully they’ll be the final piece of the puzzle to at least call the prototype complete as I can’t really say it is with it not running well. I’ll definitely put out some more vids when I have something worth showing but thank you very much for the positive vibes and motivation 👍👍👍

@@wadeskelton7585 sure, no problem boss. I don't know your age, but as stated, back in the day, so many people couldn't wait for that drop in kit to be finalized and hit the shelves. Then for the year or 3 that we all waited, only for it to just quietly fade away into the past. I understand mostly why they stop the efforts to finish the R&D but, still, we all wanted this so badly that we could taste it. A touch and fast proven chassis system like the golden pan RC-10, to then have 4WD, omg that woulda been ground breaking. Yes, there was 4WD chassis out there like the Tamiya series i.e., HOTSHOT, Kyosho optimid series chassis's as well. Ah, you get the point, it was just really neat to see this project being resurrected. It is no easy feat that you are doing to make this happen. But, as stated, you have an advantage that 30 plus years ago didn't have, today's technology ability in a home setting for endless attempts at prototyping and testing phases at a fair cost effectiveness that can be allot of fun to do. Good luck, I'll keep tabs on this status, and will enjoy your ever attempt even if they are not a success, as that is all part of this challenge. Super exciting to be able to bare witness to what you are doing. Take your time and enjoy the journey. Dru

@@drubradley8821 right on Dru - I’m 45 & I did frequent a local track but never had the funds to race, was just the kid walking around bothering the old dudes who were there to race 😄
I guess I wasn’t involved enough to know anyone even considered converting an RC10 to 4WD back then so I was completely blown away to find out only recently it was actually a thing and immediately bummed to know I would probably never get my hands on one. You’re absolutely right about us having the ability to attempt something like this from our desk at home nowadays - you needed access to a machine shop back then and lots of time to fart around - I truly cannot imagine making it work without being able to draw & assemble the individual parts in CAD!
Anyhow man like I said I’m gonna keep going with it, I haven’t lost hope yet 👍👍👍

Almost got this sorted now just one more issue with the top belt pulley turned by the spur gear - i 3d printed one and it hosed itself during a more recent run - gonna get one done up in Al and it should be drivable!! Thanks for checking it out and commenting!!!!

Yes I did but it’s definitely not ready for showtime yet - I’m trying to decide how to make the differentials without spending a fortune, once that’s sorted out I will certainly share any/all files with anyone who wants them!
That said, if you have any machinist buddies let me know 👍👍

I appreciate it T - it still needs much work but at least all the plastic non-drivetrain parts are solid. Hope you’re doing well 👍
