    An NU bearing this is good learning for us, loved the removable retainer center race NUP, never seen that style bearing ever.
    Thank you for sharing these bearing types with us.

    Think I'll make a bearing tomorrow, thanks!

    Thanks for your great videos, very interesting.
    Question from a total novice: will an NUP bearing function the same whichever way it is oriented on the shaft?
    I ask because my online research has led me to understand “Mounted on the non-flange side of the inner ring, the thrust collar allows the bearing to carry an axial load in both directions.”
    And further that “The thrust collar extends out of the bearing on one side, so the dimension across the inner ring is slightly greater than that of the outer ring.”
    This second explication suggests (to me) that it might matter which order the parts go on the shaft.
    The Toyota factory installed this bearing on the transmission counter gear shaft (using their terminology)
    side race,
    bearing outer race and rollers,
    and then the inner race, which is a press fit.
    However, the Toyota Repair Manual, in both the disassembly and reassembly have this order reversed.
    Which kind of suggests that it doesn’t matter.
    Bottom line, I want to do it right, do whatever will give me the best, longest service.
    So I ask the experts, if there is a preferred orientation, what is it?
    Thank you
    Robert

      The NUP has both outer and inner races the same size including the spacer on the inner race. They are not designed for thrust. The design allows for some containment compared to the NU type with no shoulders on either side.
      Normally NUP can help so you don’t have to be exact with the dimensions bearing to bearing with bearing caps.
      There should be a locking method used to stop the axical thrust so NUP doesn’t run hot rubbing the shoulders on either inner or outer races.
      If I was worried about thrust and was going to have to use the NUP, I would put a snap ring or locking nut in front of the inner ring on the shaft.
      Most the time the assembly is the problem trying to use these if there is a nut larger then inner race. (response is from Reed's Reno Plant Technical Director)

      +ReedElectric No problem, as an Engineering studen't often having trouble with visualization, your videos help a lot! Good luck with business!

    can you please let me know why some bearings have cage made of brass and some plastic.
    If i interchange these bearings, will it lead to failure of machine?

      In our opinion, the brass/bronze cages are a more durable bearing while the non-metallic cages are often less expensive and run quieter.

      Can you please also define the capacity of metallic and non metallic bearing. made a video to guide that where we have to use metallic and non metallic bearing. So that we can select the exact bearing. thanks.

    Are these available for bicycles?

    • @TechTrainTracks
      @TechTrainTracks  5 років тому

      Yes - but as we are by no means experienced with bicycles, we think addressing this topic with bike techs would be far better.

      @@TechTrainTracks Bike techs are not practical, I work on my own bikes and have mixed and matched some different hardware to work better together. I use loose ceramic balls on shimano loose bearing hubs, but getting the loose ceramic balls was not easy.

    Can anybody tell us the method of demagnetizing the rollers before assemble in a bearing

    • @TechTrainTracks
      @TechTrainTracks  4 роки тому

      You would use a degausser which removes the magnetism from the bearing. Degaussers are similar to devices that are used to bulk erase magnetic tape. Magnetism is sometimes induced into bearings when bar/transformer type heaters are used to heat the bearing bore for installation on a shaft journal.

      New SKF heaters include degaussing. You can use a growler that is used for testing for open rotors in the squirrel cage type design, but they are take more work to perform degaussing. Hope this helps.
