+seejanedrill You seem like such a wonderful person. I hope everyone watches your videos but especially young girls and women that don't think that they can take care of their vehicles on their own. You're right. They can do it! Thanks for leading by example. ❤️
It seems to me that women are more likely to be good communicators than men. Of course, not always! Just - more likely. While men may be less likely to be good communicators, there are of course men who are good communicators, too. Did seejanedrill make sure we knew you can only use torque sticks with impact wrenches; that they don't work with ordinary lever-wrenches?
I do hope many, many beginners have found your channel. The simplest and clearest instructions always. And good camera work. Thanks once again. Jesus bless.
My 5 year old daughter loves to help me with my jeep. We started watching you together for the positive vibes. With some explanation she is learning how to work on our Jeep. Thank you
Leah, I already knew the purpose of torque sticks, but happened upon the video anyway and just wanted to mention that the positivity you show is great for those who need this content. Keep it up.
Thanks Lady, I just bought my first impact wrench to remove and install my mower blades. After doing it by hand for over 50 years I thought it was time to get one to make life a little easier at 68. I was wanting to make sure I used it correctly. I didnt know about the torque bars, thanks.
+seejanedrill is this information I found correct? - It's basically just a rod of spring steel. when it reaches a certain torque it flexes under the load and that absorbs the impact of the gun
Leah, where would we be without you! Took the plunge earlier and have my first air impact. Going to use this tool on my tractor decks, blades, tires, ect. Thank you again!

You seem like that kind of neighbor who'll mow my lawn in a pinch if needed and vis versa. You definitely know you're way around a garage. Much love to you and yours.
Thanks LEAH for mentioning the PSI@90 ,most mechanics won't be bothered with this detail, it may be necessary to torque behind yourself and increase the air incrementally until your torque wrench no longer turns, this is kinda a stop gap technology that is being phased out of bigger wheels with a non impact torque multiplication system, I will be so glad when have down sized and made it affordable for the small shops. THANK YOU and keep up the good work!
Took 20 seconds after hearing how you explain this how to for me to subscribe. Im a total noob and always throw myself into big diy projects where i have to learn a ton of new things. Awesome positive teacher!
Like Sushi Wasabi said, you are an excellent teacher Leah. Your style of teaching resonates very much with me, and your always positive. You also cover the important points about the Impact I know - especially using the proper sockets. I didn't know about Torque sticks until i saw your video. Love your videos - keep them coming!
Best tutorial seen so far. Detailed and instructive. As a first timer with the impact wrench, I got all my answers. I am returning the chrome socket the home depot guy who sold it to me with the tool, clearly he did not know this is not the right kind. Thanks a lot!!!
I recently purchased a torque stick set for my 2019 Toyota Tundra and see that my lug nuts need to be torqued down to 100 lb/ft of tq as well. At first I was afraid to use them but now I feel more confident after watching your video. I'm using a Dewalt battery powered impact gun which I have in my truck with me at all times.
I've watched a couple of your videos and you are so enthusiastic and knowledgable that your videos are so easy to watch and to understand. Thanks for uploading your videos :)
I learned more from this video than the other 400 videos about impact wrenches and sticks. i appreciate your attention to detail and easy explanations.
Stumbled upon these videos - just wanted to say well done! Leah does a fantastic job keeping things simple, while still hitting the important details to explain the "why" not just how.
Leah , thank you for the as always excellent tutorial! I knew nothing about an impact wrench ,now I do. Always appreciate your friendly, positive personality!
Omg how did you know that I just got an impact wrench that didn't come with instructions? By the way HUGE improvement with the sound. It really improved the quality of your videos! Thanks for tackling a multitude of topics with your friendly and positive attitude! It's awesome. Keep up the good work!
Love this format and execution for teaching, great video. For anyone reading this though, DO NOT use a torque stick with a strong impact or for final torque on anything. They are exclusively intended to provide a rough limit to torque to help avoid accidents and damage, usually in a high volume shop environment to quickly set wheels on a vehicle before final torque. A strong impact can cause the stick to create torque well beyond its intended limit, can damage the stick and change its limit, and the stick itself is not intended to be a precise instrument.
I learned something new by viewing this video, and will remember it when shopping for a compact wrench, and now the torque sticks for the unit. Thanks for showing us how to do this, Leah.
So that's how it done. Thanks Leah for showing how simple it is. Very educational, as always. Now I have to get one of those impact wrenches; just got my first compressor last year. Saw your video on compressors and went out and got one!
Hi Leah. I just wanted to say thanks for this insightful video, and your wonderful attitude and demeanor. I find you a breath of fresh air and truly enjoy watching all your videos. Bill :)
@@kabbykyleeandabby6415 I disagree. The socket is rigid enough that there is no loss of torque. That's the way that the torque sticks work. The more flexible that they are in torsion, the more that they will lose torque. As she showed, the ones for higher torque are thicker and therefore more rigid.
You are so awesome for posting this kind of thing. There's alot of misc. How to vids done by pros for pros, but this is the shit us "Dad went out for milk" folk NEED! ❤️
One thing I would advise: it's better to use 6 point sockets with an impact wrench, because they are a better, more secure fit than a 12 point, particularly on wheel nuts/bolts, which can have a more rounded profile
Hi Leah, sorry if I misspelled your name. I just had to say how much I love to watch your channel. I have been a Jill-of-all-trades my whole life, so I have worn many hats, so I love to see strong women doing things that people usually expect to see men doing. I only wish I there were more women like yourself showing other women that they don't need a man to change a tire or fix a sink. Don't get me wrong I love men, but I would just like to see more women in businesses that men normally do. I'd love to take my car to a female mechanic for the things I can't or don't want to do. So thanks again for being an inspiration and a kind of role model for women, even though you may not see yourself that way. Take care, Dee😊👍
Leah, I've watched alot of your videos from home repair to now auto work! You always do an amazing job with such "elegance" if you will? How do the torque extensions work? How do they know how to stop at the specified torque? Might be a good thing to add in this video. Well done as always!
I'm supposed to be picking up my first impact wrench tomorrow. It's Kobalt's 700 ft-lbs model. The sticker price was around $75 but I'm getting it from Marketplace for $40. I'm using a borrowed air compressor at the moment but since I'm wanting to be a mechanic in the future I want to eventually invest in a compressor that's good for running air tools. Hopefully I'll be able to get the larger head bolts off of my car, I couldn't with a 1/2" ratchet and extension and a pipe stuck on the end of it. For anyone still shopping around, make sure you know if your model comes with the air attachment and get oil for it!

Hello. The best ever explanation. All these guys that demonstrate electric impact wrenches, they do not get into details, and my question was always, well if an impact wrench has a torque of 1000 ft-lbs and you for example undo the lug nuts or nuts that is quite all right, but if you tighten them won't this impact wrench tighten them to 1000ft-lbs. So, that moment was always scary for me and less understood!

How do you adjust for incremental increases between the ranges of the torque sticks. For example, you want to torque to 88lbs but the torque stick is either 80 or 100 ft.lbs? Great clear video. Thank you.
Stumbled upon this video and had the question of, I've purchased a similar to your 1/2 impact (Hyper Tough brand) and a set of impact rated sockets but I can't get them to fit, what am I doing wrong? I've been told I need to tweak the metal wring around the collar so that the sockets fit on it. Is that right?
Very interesting video. How does the color coded extension determine the correct torque value. I thought a manual torque wrench should be used for the final torquing after the car has been driven for 15 miles.
I know nothing about tools and cars but I’m trying to learn and I did buy a little air compressor awhile back. My question is do you have to have a certain type or size of air compressor to use with the torque wrench shown in this video? Or will any size and model be sufficient without damaging either?

I'm a black guy over 40 so I know how we do! I don't want anything happening to you so PLEASE make sure your diet is as Vegan as possible and nutrition rich. Keep up the great work!!!
+Andy Plater don't want to get into a debate with you on this page but meat and dairy free diets are actually more correlated with good health, as it's defined currently, than otherwise.
Vegan simply means the lack of meat and other animal products - it has nothing to do with overall nutrition. Yes, you can get vital proteins and other nutrients in other ways, but it requires precise dieting to know in what areas you need to make up for in order to see actual health *benefit* from switching - so it's actual the precise dieting and picking of nutrients that makes you healthy, not the lack of animal products. Not using animal products is morally nicer to think about, but not healthier.

+Andy Plater Thanks, Waypa! Just so you know, I actually am a vegetarian, and have been for over 20 years. However, I probably do need to cut back on the potato chips...:)
I love how your videos are great for beginners, and also those of us who've pretty much done it all. For example, I've never heard of torque sticks! I just fiddle with my digital torque adapter. How could I have never come across these? Thanks :-)
you're welcome, Randal, and thanks!
GREAT Video ! EZ to understand and follow.
