    Thank you for reviewing the Peregrine! I asked you to review it because I'm really interested in getting this board and your review helped me a lot, I will get one!
    Thanks again and keep on shredding!!!

    I liked that you incorporated a comparison of multiple boards in one episode, it's like addressing the vs. questions ( of boards that share similarities ) before they're even asked. It's a cool platform that shows how board relativity can be just as powerful of an indicator of a boards characteristics as maybe the boards' design by itself. Thanks for the perspective, feel better mate!

    The peregrine review was spot on from what I've experienced. The flat deck makes the board very springy and buoyant making the board easy to tip rail to rail and generate speed quickly. The channels underneath are interesting to say the least, with all the springyness off the flat deck and fuller rails the channels just make the board want to accelerate down the line. Everything about the board felt really good except for when I wanted to break into a quick transition or do a quick cut back to slow down or draw a new line. This board wanted to stick with the original down the line flow and was actually kind of difficult to get it to transition and pivot quickly. I haven't been riding this board long but it is VERY fast and springy but can be stubborn when it comes to quick direction changes. I really love the spring and float of the flat deck and I'd bet the new black and white is awesome.

      +Elsa Johnson sounds like you might like the Fort Knox which is similar to what you described but turns really well on rail.

      +sickening I accidentally posted under the wrong user name, this is my account. I have had a semi pro that I really liked that had a similar outline to the Fort Knox. I've never ridden any of his models though so I'll definitely give it a shot if I get a chance to ride one. I really loved the DFR, that was the best board I've had in a long time. I really liked the straight outline with the single concave running the whole board. I really liked the heavy tail rocker making the board have a skateboard type of feel with plenty of drive and control even in smaller waves. Idk if you've ever ridden one but if you have could you point me in the right direction of a model that is similar to the DFR. It just worked in everything from waist to ceiling high

    • @sickening3731

      Stick with the DFR then or maybe a MBM+

    I ordered a custom 6'0 18 3/4 2 1/8 26L Peregrine and so far I'm really liking it. The flat deck goes from the nose to the tail creating a very springy buoyant feel that makes the board feel alive and twitchy. I haven't ridden the board long but so far I've really liked how the board has tons of life and a get up and go feel, very alive and drivey. The rails are medium to full making it very floaty and FAST. The channels on the bottom play right into the buoyant poppy fast low rocker feel of the board making it feel as if there is a air bubble underneath the tail. Down the line this board is exceptional producing tons of drive and speed and likes to tip rail to rail when trying to pump to gain speed. There are a couple things that I haven't liked quite as much and it may just have been the waves I have surfed on it but this board likes to keep going straight down the line. While it transitions well rail to rail while gaining speed the board lacks pivot when trying to make quick direction changes or trying to slow down and switch up the line and pace. This board likes to stay with the original line you draw from the second you stand up, i was finding it difficult to pivot quickly and change direction to find the line and flow I wanted to take. For example when I dropped down to do a bottom turn and go vertical towards the lip the board wanted to take a much more broad arc creating a much more drawn out approach and turn radius. This board is extremely fast and springy and loves flying down the line but can be difficult in hollow pocket situations. I'm sure with some practice I'll figure it out. For long fast waves with lots of open face this is the board for you, if you're looking for a board for more in the pocket snaps or airs I might lean more towards a DFR or something to that degree. I'm very interested to see a Black and white, I loved the flat deck feel and am wondering if the extra tail flip and entry rocker on the black and white will open the board up more to a wider variety of conditions. Sorry for the rant. All in all this was a spot on review of the peregrine by shred show. Well done sir. Just out of curiosity what models would you recommend that mimic the DFR? I have a Peregrine, Fred Rubble, semi pro, taco grinder and DFR. Out of all those my favorite model so far is the DFR and was just wondering what other boards have that type of feel. It just seems to work in everything from waist high to 10ft

      +TRIKushbeachside Thanks for sharing such detailed feedback here. I think the DFR is really the only board that would feel similar to the DFR. They basically made whatever Dane Reynolds wanted without much input from other team guys, so no one had the opportunity to say "this has way too much rocker.' Most of the boards that come out of CI go through a long process of feedback from many team riders, and boards usually don't get released until multiple riders are happy with a design and sign off on it. The DFR was just straight Dane and I think thats why it feels so foreign from the other models.

    To add to my peregrine experience everything is the same as before but I have ridden it a ton and love it. Tons or drive and response and can handle the hardest turns you can do. Works very well in smaller surf as well. The board just needs cleaner waves for the channels to work, that being said when the waves are decent with clean conditions this is one of the fastest best carving/slashing boards ever. And the black and white is basically very similar rocker wise but has more control like a typical high performance shortboard. Definitely works best in clean chest- 10ft surf. Very responsive fast and stable. Very secure solid good wave board. More of a board for surfing good waves but maybe not quite super hollow waves. I haven't had the chance to surf it in hollow waves so it might work great but just do to the low entry I think it might be a tiny bit flat and wide for heavy hollow waves. Handled 6--10ft popoyo like a dream. Popoyo is very similar to lowers, maybe even a better more powerful wave. Both are great boards.

    you should do the rusty muffin top i would really appreciate it. it seems like something different and could be a real magic stick. for a groveler kind of board it seems to have just as much speed but more curve and more versatility in steeper surf.

    questions that people want the answers to:
    1) shorter, wider + high performance shortboard rocker? is this a thing/how does it work?

    I forgot to mention the sampler is MUCH flatter than the DFR just keep that in mind. It has a much more similar rocker to the Black and White and Peregrine. I love them all, it will be much faster but not as agile as the DFR which literally feels like a skateboard :). I love that board when the waves are clean and hollow. But ya man the sampler should be a safe bet for thigh-shoulder high typical beach break etc. just nothing to hollow or big and you should be in the clear. Pretty much flat entry for speed so pumping in the front and then stomping on the tail to do your turns. The flatter rocker is going to want to draw your turns out more just so you know. Cruiser than the DFR but should still be very high performance in average waves

    • @TheBroLounge
      @TheBroLounge 8 років тому

      I sold my DFR this week. Too much rocker for my local pointbreaks. I did have a few amazing turns on it at a reef, but also missed a lot of barrels because of the rocker. I still think its a sick board, but not for most waves in my area.

    i wonder if they dont shape the channels the whole way because of the labor involved in the glassing...the one Britt is holding looks way more intricate and the channels are way more pronounced. IDK, just speculating.

    Bond summer
    Yes the sampler is straight Dane. I loved the DFR and I get mine custom to I'm 6'0 155lbs so the stock dims are always to big. I was literally about to order a sampler a couple days ago as my small wave go to but I went with the sci fi instead. Time will tell if i like it or not, I had a very hard time steering from Danes CI models. I have the B+W, DFR, Peregrine and I love them all. I also have a Fred rubble, taco grinder and semi pro. I have a full CI quiver and for the first time in years I'm trying the sci fi which obviously isn't a CI model. I wanted a eps for the smaller surf and for durability and the sci fi seemed to be a tiny bit heavier than a typical EPS which is nice because they can be very poppy and springy in bad ways when they're to light but the sci fi seemed to have the best of both worlds with the price being 789$ for a EPS and I didn't have to customize even though I probably could have, all my other boards are. My standard DFR is 6'0 18 5/8 2 1/4 at 26.2L and I was planning on ordering a 5'8 19 1/8 2 5/16 sampler. I'm pretty sure the volume is 27.2L? But instead I got the 5'8 19 2 7/16 sci fi at 27.7L. A little more float than I've had since I've been paying attention to volumes etc... But for small waves a little extra foam is usually good unless you are one of the luck few who get to surf 2-5ft lowers on the reg lol. Hope this helps, the sampler looks like a straight nugget. If my sci fi doesn't work I'll be trading it back and getting the sampler. Another reason for the sci fi is a custom flex bar sampler would be like 975$ after tax and shipping so it's a decent amount more expensive and the 6-8 week shaping time. All the best

    • @dubbs1923
      @dubbs1923 7 років тому

      @TRIKushbeachside If you were to compare the B&W vs. the Fred Rubble, which one do you like best? I'm stuck between these two models. Which one do you think is more forgiven?

    • @TRIKushbeachside
      @TRIKushbeachside 7 років тому +1

      It really depends what kind of waves you surf most, if you are planning on using it in more beach break types of surf I would go with the Rubble. On the other hand if you surf more lined up point types of waves I would go with the B/W. Forgiving wise I would say they are pretty even maybe the Rubble is a little more user friendly, the B/W has less rocker which helps with down the line speed but can get a little tricky in the pocket or in hollowed surf because you really have to stay on top of it or you'll catch a rail easier or not get the pivot you expect/need off the bottom or in the lip. Both boards are good models but it really depends on the waves. I would say Rubble for beach breaks or hollow surf and the B/W for longer lined up point types of waves. Hope this helps!

      @MrB1019 7 років тому

      how you liking the Sci Fi? in small surf, big surf? construction okay? cheers

    • @TRIKushbeachside
      @TRIKushbeachside 7 років тому +1

      101unz haven't checked my UA-cam in awhile, I actually didn't have that great of a experience with the Sci Fi. I got the stock 5'8 with 27.7L which is quite a bit more volume than I normally ride because I was planning on using it as a groveler. The Sci Fi to me is not really a grovel board, the board was 2 7/16 but the rails were as thin as my 2 1/4 Rubble. The board was fun as a quad in cleaner hollower surf but I was struggling to get it to click in any other conditions really. I had 5 sessions on it and the rails cracked 3 times. Between the material issues and the lack of fun sessions I would have to say the Sci Fi isn't for everyone. In really clean waves it was fun but besides that it just felt to flat and knifey. I would say this board isn't really a groveller. Hope this helps

      +Federico Ponsa This board made it through alive and in great condition... I have a rule - if the glass job can't stand the abuse I give it while filming, I consider the glass job poor quality and I don't release the episode. One time a board was so trashed by the end of filming that I scrapped the episode and never filmed another board from that brand again.
