  • It's time to transplant two banana pups to new spots in the garden. Check out this detailed video on the process.

I grow bananas all the time but I live in a tropical climate. You did well with the transplant. My advice to you is to bury the pups a little deeper. Also regarding winter - you should cut the trees to the ground and heavily mulch it to protect from the frost. They hold insane amount of water in them. Or you can dig the bulbs up, dry them and wrap it in a news paper and keep them in a garage until spring. Pro tip: If you can't harvest the bananas, you can always harvest the flowers. They are edible too. Happy gardening. Love your videos.

Oh that is all such great advice!! If I cut the tree to the ground, will it grow up again and flower if it hasn't flowered yet? If it flowers in the fall again, is there a way to keep the flower/fruit warm through the winter? I was thinking of wrapping it with a string of lightbulbs and turning them on at night or when it's cold - maybe also draping with a sheet. Any other ideas?
