Of all the beat'em ups, this was my favorite in the arcades.
This definitely deserves a remake in the future
I remember playing this on a 6 player arcade cabinet in Akibahabra back in the 90s. It had a dual monitor setup like what most PCs have today very cool.

I would've had Ice-Man, or Jean Grey as one of the choices but still this game is fun :)
Its funny how the sentinels in this game are the size of regular humans. In most other media they're depicted being giant sized. It makes sense to have them man-sized for the game though since they're regular enemies. Though I think for most media, they should have sentinels of various sizes.
Also, if you played this in the 90's as a japanese that didn't know anything about X-men, I would imagine you'd think that the sentinels were "the evil mutants" led by Magneto, since the intro doesn't really explain anything, and their classic design looks very "organic".
@@thosemerc3113 LOL! Right. Because the narrator kind of goofed. And Magneto didn't have his usual gang with him. Plus, the Sentinels are robots! LOL! Though, I'm surprised Toad wasn't in this game. Plus, Magneto doesn't really want to destroy the world, so much as he wants to make it a better place for mutants, since he views humans as vermin. In most media, Magneto is more of a tragic misunderstood villain who believes in his cause. But this game makes him seem like a bloodthirsty psychopath.
The only point of reference the developers had for this game was the cartoon that came out in the 1980s for one episode. All that, and the game still came out amazingly well. That's ingenuity on a big level.
@@MentalLiberation Quite true. Still, its nice that they took some creative liberties with the source material. And I think its a clever idea to have the Sentinels as normal sized regular enemies in the game. Cuz you'd think they'd come in all different sizes as opposed to only being giant like in most media.
This is the reason why Nighcrawler is my favorite X-Men.
Nightcrawler and Wolverine were always my favorites to play as. And I'm glad that Wolvie was in his brown and tan outfit and not his blue and yellow one in this!

neo geo there is a blast from the past I played that only a few times that said it was alot more advanced then much of its peer systems at the time
CAM8689 yeah I use to have neo geo cd console when I was a kid back in 95 me and my brothers played the hell out of it the aes was too exspensive bout 700 bucks crazy.
Imagine this is the Arkham style but each character having their own skill set and upgrade tree like X-men legends. Talk about combining two superhero games into one monster! Get rid of dazzler for gambit or iceman

With the upcoming release of the Cowabunga Collection, I wonder if we'll ever get this and the Simpsons game on modern platforms. Maybe have the Switch or PC versions have the 6 player edition as well

Nightcrawler was the best, that ducking attack prevented him from getting hit by any other enemies. Plus, he had the coolest power in my opinion. Plus, he’s my favourite X-Man.
That is why 4 player Arcade games are already chaotic enough, so usually they cap the player limit to 4

Do you think there’s any way to get to slider settings to adjust the speakers for the X-men game to remove the high pitch tones. I’ve done it on other mame versions before
I stumbled across something that I really should have learned a long time ago. If you press the O key, a master volume slider pops up. This is something I had known about for a long time, but what I didn't know is you can press up and down to cycle through other sliders, including the sound channels and overclock. I don't normally mess around with the sound settings too much, but I'm assuming that what you're looking for is in these sliders, since they're the same as what I found on a more recent MAME version.

arronmunroe do you also think there’s a way to get rid of the “move the joystick left to right to continue and this game dosent work properly” screen? It’s annoying for it to pop up every time I want to play sunset riders of tmnt in time. Thanks
Unfortunately, I don't think you can do that. You can skip the regular game info screen by checking the box that says "skip game info", but this doesn't skip the screen that refers to known problems with a game. There might be builds out there which let you skip that screen too, but then you would be back to a build that doesn't allow overclocking to be saved. I can't say with 100% certainty that there isn't a custom version of MAME somewhere that has both of those features, but if there is one, I haven't heard of it.

+Super Rabbit I'll have to look into it again, but I thought I couldn't actually get the game running in netplay. I'm also not sure if I could even get the players for that one because of how long it is.
Yeah it's hard, but is a classic and I would love to see you guys do it. There's also no good video of it on UA-cam
+Super Rabbit Well, I'll get back to you after I see what my options are for MAME and netplay. I could very likely do at least a 2p video of the whole game, but I'm not so sure about more players than that. As I mentioned, length is an issue.
+Super Rabbit I found out that the game only runs at around 40-50% speed on my computer, and this is even on the newest version of MAME. While my computer might not be the fastest, the main problem here is that the way MAME emulates 3D games tends to not be the most efficient for running them at a reasonable speed. If you wanted me to play one of the console ports, I could possibly do that, although I'm still not sure if I could do it with more than 2 players.

Sigit Priyono I believe in the 6 player version and Japanese version there are pink and white Sentinels that drop energy capsules. In the 2 player and 4 player versions of the game, they’re gone.

The arcade old graphics are the best. Fuck new age hd games they suck. Remakes suck asshole they ruin the nostalgia.
