I had dinner with Paul Davis years and years ago. Not a date. Just dinner. He wasn't a super celebrity. He was a kind, soulful man who possessed an impressive way with words. I was beyond sad when he passed away. That one dinner left a lasting impression.
Even sadder is the unreleased music that was about to hit the public right as he sadly passed away.
Thank you for sharing your memory
Lucky you! How did you meet him?.
@@trawlins396 Leon Russell was my cousin & he introduced us.
@@sueharviel6510Oh ok I see. He seemed like such a thoughtful and altogether genuine person. You are so blessed to have that memory of him. I'm only just discovering him but his voice is perfection. And the funny thing is his speaking voice sounds completely different.
70s & 80s adult contemporary was some of the best music to come out of the 20th Century
I was in college when this song came out, had a crush on a girl but never asked her out. Everytime I hear this song I think of her 45 years later. Kids can't do this today with the garbage they call music.
I wouldn't consider what they put out today "music". It's just random noises thrown together.
I guess I'm proud to say that I must have taught my boys well. They love my 70's music. Every once in a while they'll as me, "Why is it that they don't make good music like this anymore?" They definitely had some great poetic artists at that time. I guess some of my love for romance has rubbed off on them. 😊
Exactly Larry!!!
Agree. His voice was so dreamy and beautiful. It gets me dreaming and longing for a man to sing to me with so much love like that.
One of my favorite songs. His voice makes it feel personal. Beautiful! Such a great song. Thank you Harri. You are spot on with your analysis.
One of my favorites as well.
ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG'S OF ALL TIME
It is beautiful. Always loved this song....never gets old
I remember being a heartbroken teenager listening to this song and crying my eyes out. What an amazing song.
1982... met a cute girl at a campground in BC we hung out all week... sad leaving and knowing I would never see her again.. when we pulled out this song played on dads radio.. first time I cried about a girl. I felt so stupid at 12 years old.. I wish I could feel like that today.
70’s and 80’s songs will make you fall in love with someone you don’t even know.
That’s TRUE!
Right!?!? I fell in love with Paul Davis the first time i heard his voice!
This is so true!
Paul Davis's voice makes my heart melt.
Same. This song makes me all dreamy and romantic. I keep grabbing my boyfriend and dancing lol
I feel you!!!
This song, " I go crazy" was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 40 weeks and peaked at #1. Everyone loves when an old lover looks in your eyes and they still go crazy! Paul was hot. He was only in his 20's here. The long blonde hair is sexy on him, and the facial hair, moustache and beard are gorgeously masculine. He was somewhat shy and stayed out of the limelight. Their are not that many videos of this man playing this song, either. He could play any of the instruments in his band, very talented that way. He didn't tour much. He had filled our radiowaves with romantic magic and we ate it up back then. I love a lot of different music, but this song is so beautiful, it can reignite an old flame. His other hit 'Cool Night" will also set lover's hearts on fire! Yes I am in love with a dead man. I think I can be forgiven. Thanks for reviewing an master of love songs! People fell in love to his songs. He was a shy, humble, talented and much loved guy who died too young!
There's something about 70s music. Not just the vocals, but the mixture of the synthesizer, the brass, woodwind, and string ensemble that just creates honey in your ears.
You just don't gear that in today's music.
He has always been One of My Favorites. One of the most underrated writers and Singers.
This song is so stunningly beautiful. Paul’s voice is incredible and he pours so much emotion into it.
I love his voice too. Another great song from him is "Cool Night". Another song where he's trying to get his girl back. He plays the piano very well.
One of the best songs ever. Still listening in 2023. Great review. I just subscribed.
The arrangement and production on this are so sensitive and on-point. It's a story and every element contributes to the telling that story. It's a perfect work of art.
The Second show I ever ran lights for was with him opening up for Crystal Gayle. Amazing hair that night in Miami.
"I don't want to be just another love" is good duet that they did.
From my honetown Meridian MS My dad managed a band in the 60s. Paul would cone to the house and sit in when they rehearsed sometimes..The Bassist was Chris Ethridge. One of the founding members of The Flying Burrito Brothers.
@@1bigrowdy Kool. We sometimes forget these are real people some nice some not. But overall mainly good.
Well Meridian I’m sure is very proud of him. This song is outstanding.
Wow Jude!!! What a memory for you!!!!!
Beautiful song...great lyrics..as always...he wrote his own songs
And composed the music!! ❤
Beautiful Top Ten Hit for Paul Davis. I bought the record, Really hit home for me at the time. Wow. 🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
This luxurious song had hit written all over it when it was completed in the recording studio. Definitely one of the most beautiful songs ever!!!! Paul had a tremendous beautiful voice.
Bro I've been listening to this song since it was released back In '77. It still rips my heart out.
Magnificent writer and Performer. Very introspective and passed away too young.
Love it! Please explore more..he had some Great ones(RIP Paul Davis)..65'Love Affair, Cool Night, and Sweet Life are all musts :) Keep On Rockin'
His eyes are soulful, too. I want to hug him when i see his face and then there is his music...perfection! He was amazing! And i believe i will see him in heaven one day. He was a Christian by faith.
That's awesome. Hopefully he's singing for my mom and many women in heaven
@@staylebutler9135 I would imagine he is singing praises to God 😍
@@beverlywilliams7278 you know what is weird is I'm 37 yrs old, my mom said I was born at least 30yrs to late because I just have a old soul. I got in my truck after a long , excruciating day at work and the song popped in my head. She would have laughed at the fact. Ok know Leon Russell is probably still trying to get away from her grasp as well 😂 he was born 30 minutes away from her 1 year to the date of her birth. Heaven sure has some fine people and singers up there.
@@staylebutler9135 that's a fact!!! ❤️
You can still feel the pain and hurt from losing this love. This song gives me chills.
Yes he did the arrangement of this song. He was a musical genius. The first part is so haunting like seeing a ghost but it is not. It is him seeing her. His heart doesn't know what to do. Just a beautiful song " like diamonds in your ears"
"Cool night" and " '65 love affair" are a couple of other good ones of his...
Here’s a few more songs of Paul’s you might like to check out.
Cry Just A Little
Cool Night
‘65 Love Affair
Cool Night, Cry Just A Little, Sweet Life, Do Right and '65 Love Affair are definitely worth a listen.
Your reaction is fantastic.
And you're right, a smooth voice on a great song.
SO ON POINT! bravo Harri!
Crazy is Paul had a southern drawwll thick as molasses- don't know how he could sing like that.
Brilllllliant review- thanks for sharing 👍
This is my favorite song of all time, Mr. Paul Davis had such soul, I go crazy, was and will always be one of thee greatest love songs, ever, R.I.P. Paul Davis ...
I was born in January 1917 so I grew up listening to Paul Davis, et al. I have such fond memories of my childhood growing up in Miami and listening to this music at the beach or at family events. Just really fond memories
I adore this song & Paul Davis. I feel it so much!!🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
Ohhhhh, this song has always made my heart melt. So beautiful! He had a few hits: '65 Love Affair; Cool Night; Sweet Life; Do Right; Love or Let Me Be Lonely.
I remember this as a new song on the radio. Different time then. life showed me the true meaning of this song.
The great memories associated with this masterpiece that came out in August 27 1977 and peaked at # 7 on the Billboard chart in 1978 and overall spending 9 months and one week on the Billboards hot 100 chart, a record back then. Other great songs by Paul were 65 LOVE AFFAIR, DO RIGHT AND COOL NIGHT. Paul left us on April 22, 2008 RIP, YOUR MUSIC WILL LIVE ON.
"The kind of guy you don't want talking to your woman." Absolutely! Briliant song. Such clear vocals. Heartbreaking. Love it.
I was a junior in high school when this came out. Thanks for brining me back to the old days.
One of my favorite songs and artist! What a beautiful voice!!! The music is so dreamy!!! So much talent in the whole package!!!❤️
I love you Harry. You always get it.😊😊😊😊😊
Another song with the same feel... Billy Vera and the Beaters 'At This Moment '... 80s kids will know it from the tv show Family Ties. Such a great song love to see your react to it!
One amazing song.
I remember this as a teenager but did not understand until I was in my 20’s.
Ultimately the love of my life a couple of years after being rejected, was the woman I married.
An amazing woman.
Unfortunately she died in 2014 but I know that no other woman will ever replace her after over 9 years.
But you never know.
❤️❤️
Great song for High School reunions. Seeing old teen crushes from 20 years plus ago. Dancing to this song in the reunion could cause some trouble or finally marrying your soulmate.
@Ray M ha. I went to a private boys school, so… but the lads wouldn’t want to admit how much they loved this absolute classic.
What a voice!! Very underrated 🎶🎵
Loved this song from the first time I heard it. I was sure it was about my first love. His face appears in my mind every time I hear it!
One of my very favorite vocalists. Top tier talent, no question. Enjoying Paul Davis, Harri, you'll also love Michael Johnson starting with Bluer than Blue. Both pierce a similar vein.
I have loved this song since the 70's!
This song came out when I was 8 years old... I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this Man and his VOICE-yes I would marry him over this voice--I love how you said "like diamonds in your ears!" --you get it! NEW SUBBIE
I'm so happy you discovered Paul Davis, Harri. He played keyboard. Plz. check out his other hits, such as: "Cool Night", "Sweet Life". Sadly, he is no longer with us. RIP Paul. x
Heartache is a real thing. Thank you. You are a beautiful man.
"Cool night" and "sweet life" are just as beautiful ❤️
He is amazing, very sad he left us so early!!!
Paul Davis... Soul MAN..😍😍
We just covered this song on our channel - This is one of those 70's classic rock songs you heard before but don't know who wrote it. Personally, I love this song and is one of my all time favorites to perform.
Heavenly.
God blessed Paul with this Song💞🔥💞💯 Thank you Paul‼️
Sweet Life, by Paul Davis is good.
Paul Davis had a wonderful voice and was a sound of the 1970's that fell into what is called Light Rock. Other bands with the same soft sound would be Seals & Croft, and England Dan & John Ford-Coley. FYI, England Dan (Dan Seals) & Jim Seals of Seals & Croft were also brothers.
Don't forget Sweet Life...
Thank you Harri, great song indeed. A couple more from Paul worth checking out are "Cool Night", "65 Love Affair". Much love
My favorite ❤
Im here for paul Davis
This song is so damn romantic. I can't stop listening to it. It makes me so sad he didn't live a long life. He was such a beautiful gentle spirit. Did you watch the video where he's singing this live? It sounds just as pretty. If you heard him speak you'd think he was a country bumpkin, he had that think Southern accent. I'm definitely subbing you. You have great taste!
Michelle from Pittsburgh PA.
So many memories and goosebumps
cool nights is a good song from Paul Davis
Great reaction...will be coming back for more!
Awesome song always loved this one ♥️
Great reaction Harri! I’ve forgotten about this sound, it really hits the heart, it’s so so beautiful!
You nailed it. It's a heartbreak song that helps you get over the grief of a lost love and mend the hate you may still feel from time to time.
Sweet Life is another great one.
Aww, brings back old memories..... Simply love your channel
He was singing about hurting people with his words and realized It and he regretted it alcohol makes you hurt the ones you love most
I have recently found your channel and you are certainly spoiling me with the music you are reacting to another beautiful song with a beautiful singing voice.🇬🇧
You'd enjoy Cool Night by him also.
Sweet Life♐
Mesmerizing...that's the only word for this tune...good video 🔥
Next up from Paul Davis should be Cool Night.
what a song.... great reaction
I think you expressed perfectly how people feel about his voice and the music. So many people consider this a favorite song, it never sounds old. I am really please you liked it so much.
Beautiful voice beautiful songs!
His three big hits are "I Go Crazy", "Cool Night" and "'65 Love Affair", however his big break was when he played Peter on the original Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice concept album "Jesus Christ Superstar" in the late 1960s.
Oh this song just puts me back in that time. Such powerful memories. Thanks for doing this.
Great reaction Harri, but not too sure it's a healing song. I hear this even after 40+ years and tear up.
I hear ya. This song has powerful memories. It’s so touching because what Paul Davis is expressing is felt by almost everyone I suspect at one time or another.
I teared up in the 70’s and I do now.
Every girl knew they could get there boy back

This song reminds me of a rainy day in January right after the holidays. When you're thinking of the girl you no longer have in your life. Beautiful song but so so sad.
Beautiful ❤

2. Cool Night

Met a retired studio musician who worked with Paul Davis and got visibly sad talking about him, really loved the guy.
Very moving and feeling song with amazing vocals!!!
A great artist! This always makes me tear up!
Try out 65 Love Affair, Cool Night, and Sweet Life from him. Glad you stumbled on to him.
What a great song try the next one is called ….Sweet life
Not sure why, but this song often reminds me of two other songs: Wildfire, by Michael Martin Murphy (ua-cam.com/video/gl4Y4FWWkn0/v-deo.html), and I'm Not In Love, by 10CC (ua-cam.com/video/STugQ0X1NoI/v-deo.html). I am pretty sure you will really like both of them.
Would love to hear someone do Wildfire.
It does for sure. Loved both those songs.
Yes it does! I also thought about wildfire by Michael Murphy too!
Just want to say that I enjoy your reactions. We are definitely kindred spirits where music is concerned.
Nice work.
OMG, Harri! You reacted to two of my all time favorites today: This one & "Sad Eyes"! A lot of memories both happy & sad! 😂 You're amazing! Thank you!🤗😘
