I failed my senior year of high school but was passed because my teachers loved me. I just didn't care to try. I dropped out of college after 6 months at 19. I'm now 32 and scored a 70 on my asvab. 112 GT score all my other scored are 117-120. My 120 was in the Nuclear field. Hope I get in I have a screw in my wrist from a wrist surgery.

My advice is to give your best answer for every single question. I know people get bored because it's long and start giving any answer. If you were ever a decent student just think about it. You might be able to figure things out that you never were taught.
Took the AFQT twice, first time I got a 34, second time I got a 54. Just took the ASVAB and scored a 63, and the line scores I wanted. Study! I didn’t even have my GED before starting this. Got my GED took the AFQT then the ASVAB and now I’m going to MEPS.
Composites will vary depending on the branch you are selecting Composite scores are not the same for army, navy, airforce, marines etc Best just focus on studying do the best you can It's not complicated if your interested in jobs related to medicine Science is important If your interested in jobs related to working with computers, software tech Electronics is important ---- But if your looking at a specific branch with a specific job you can google the job like this Example: Nuclear engineering navy asvab requirement And it will say what parts you need to score high on Or contact your local recruiter

I am sorry that was the experience you had. Usually applicants are given time to meet the weight requirements once they passed the ASVAB, at least this is the case for many of my students. I don't know if in the end you got to join but in any case a 93AFQT is a pretty good score. 👍🏼 The best to you!

@@lavaniadelrey2807 I hypothosize that he was already interested in academics and engineering and had taken the asvab for fun. My friends and I are very nerdy and we just took it for fun. I have a friend who scored a 99 and another who scored a 94, they say the test was pretty easy, so i doubt they studied for it. I would have my score as well but i actually forgot to go take the test even though i registered for the test just a week before lol. I will be taking it in march, so hopfully i wont forget again. 😅

I didn't study. I just showed up and got an 89 AFQT with a 125GT first time yesterday. I didn't even know I was taking the test until the day before. I'm not going enlisted for real tho. I'm an ROTC cadet and only took it to get free school with the guard while I'm in ROTC. Then I get to dip from guard when I graduate and become an officer.
My son scored AFQT 97 and GT 135 all line score around 60 and he choose 18x . 🤪😜 currently bt almost done. The forge started today. And he grew up in germany. Only in AS he had 48 because some technical english words he did not understand

Lavania Del Rey I got a 56 afqt and a 106 gt and I qualified for more than enough in the Air Force, I chose army. My point is that you have a really good score I wouldn’t suggest retaking it, could end up with a score that’s worse.

Unfortunately for me, I got 68 AFQT and my GT line score was 109, 1 short of 110. I'm trying to join the army as an officer with a college degree and age 31. My recruiter said I can either go enlisted first or retake the test and get a 110 GT score or higher to qualify. Someone told me they were in the same situation like me with 109 and they got a waiver to OCS. Do you think something like that exist?
Hope you got it figured out. OCS is a tough racket now. It’s taking up to a year to ship from boarding and competition is high. I’m 32 and gonna enlist to start and OCS later to extend TIS, get my loan repayment, and understand what it means to be a soldier from the bottom.

I have been in the army now going on 7months. I plan to serve my first four years get the time in service and if i get an age waiver apply for ocs or green to gold for a master's degree.
@@popebenson5921 I just made a 53 on mine and didnt study at all and was buzzed the night prior. Thinking of doing the same enlisting and going ocs after. My GT was a 100 a whole 10 off. Ima just take it and redo while in. Not trying to gamble.
Forget my AFQT something ~75 but my GT was 116 and the rest of the line scores averaged about 121. Hopefully I can do 68W and after a few years of training put a packet in for selection.
@@theadventurest4345 depends on what you want to do MOS wise. The score overall is well enough to not need a redo but if you want a specific job your other line scores may matter. For example an electrician may need a higher electrical score in addition to the GT and AFQT.

Man I took the A.S.V.A.B About 15 years ago. Didnt go into the military. Would have loved to see my scores. I know I had a 89 percentile but not to this extent. So curious to see my scores now.

How to you determine the score for each sub test? Like I see for some of you scenarios they got a 35in GS or a 25 in EL. Like how is that sub test scored determined?
How exactly score is determined, I cannot tell you because not every question has same weight on test. Like a question could count for 4 points and another question for 2 points. What I can tell you, is that in general people get a good score when they get 50 points+ on a section. Example if you go to the test and general science 35 points, that means you didn't do well on that part and if you want to increase the score on that section, you would have to study on that subject.

im so nervous I scored a 33 on my first attempt on the asvab but need a 50. im gonna be scheduled for another test really soon and im freaking out about it. literally been teaching myself everything im learning. sometimes I feel it isn't enough.
@@alexclarke1875 on my practice I failed twice with scoring in the 20s then I finally got it with a 54. go for asvab felt super confident and get a 33 :( . shoot if I didn't need the 50 I would of ran with that 33 and joined then retaken it a few years later.

So b4 I took my asvab was told to make a job list that list included infantry and a mp ect I just got a 36 on the asvab and qualified for both of them but some people are saying I should retest I'm ok with the score I got but having 2nd thoughts what should I do

Kalen Silva I’ve been trying to get into the medical field as well. A score of 50 or higher is considered good for that. Cause when I first took the practice test I got a 51 and he showed me jobs in the medical that I would qualify for. Definitely focus on the math and science!
Kalen Silva hmm if your AFQT score is 50, but I think you have to get a 50 on the science and the math portion as well to qualify for medical jobs. 50 or above is considered good :)
Medical jobs are the easiest to qualify for in the Air Force( they just don’t need the influx of people trying to go medical), medical jobs are in the general area of your MAGE score. Most medical jobs required scores range from 40-66, more so 3 or 4 jobs requires above a 50

Search asvab for dummies pdf and do the practice tests. I got a 40 on the AFQT and a 72 on the real asvab. All I did was do practice tests on it for a week and I was good.
1 month is plenty of time as long as you commit a couple hours a day and know what you need to work on. First is go to your local library and see what asvab study books they have the most recent publishing the better. I did that because I didn’t have money to buy one. 2nd depends on the branch your joining find out the line score required for the job you want so you can study for it specifically. Air Force has for 4 different line scores (General, administration, mechanical, and electrical). Your score is grabbed from each of the subjects taken on the asvab. So Air Force General score is made of of word knowledge + paragraph comprehension times arithmetic reasoning something like that I forgot. Once you know what you need to work on and what to study just focus on those sections. I recommend going onto military.com and take the short and long asvab practice test that they have. I did all of them the week prior I took the asvab and it helped me prepare. Last month I took the asvab and scored a 81 with line scores above 75 in general, admin, mechanical, and electrical Which score wise qualifies me for all jobs within the Air Force. When you go to medical depending on vision, height, hearing, and other things it can disqualify you from certain jobs but not the military itself.

@Adrian Acevedo, AFQT is 31 to enlist, but the ASVAB score you need for MP-K9 is a 91 in Skilled Technical (ST); the line scores that make up ST are: GS (General Science) + VE (Verbal Expression) + MK (Mathematical Knowledge) + MC (Mechanical Comprehension). **VE (Verbal Expression) is comprised of two ASVAB sections: PC (Paragraph Comprehension) and WK (Word Knowledge) combined to give you the VE score. So, when studying for the ASVAB, if you want to be in the Army as a K9 handler, mainly focus on the following sections: GS, MK, MC, PC and WK.

I wanted to study but when I realized I didn't know much about mechanical, electronics, or auto I figured I'll just take it because if I don't know it now I probably won't want to do it for a living. Got a 94 and 113-130 line scores. Qualified for everything.

I have been in the army now going on 7months. I plan to serve my first four years get the time in service and if i get an age waiver apply for ocs or green to gold for a master's degree.
It depends there are people from his class that got 67 and had a GT of 115. High in line scores..
@@popebenson5921 I just made a 53 on mine and didnt study at all and was buzzed the night prior. Thinking of doing the same enlisting and going ocs after. My GT was a 100 a whole 10 off. Ima just take it and redo while in. Not trying to gamble.

Forget my AFQT something ~75 but my GT was 116 and the rest of the line scores averaged about 121.
Hopefully I can do 68W and after a few years of training put a packet in for selection.

@@theadventurest4345 depends on what you want to do MOS wise. The score overall is well enough to not need a redo but if you want a specific job your other line scores may matter. For example an electrician may need a higher electrical score in addition to the GT and AFQT.

Man I took the A.S.V.A.B About 15 years ago. Didnt go into the military. Would have loved to see my scores. I know I had a 89 percentile but not to this extent. So curious to see my scores now.

How to you determine the score for each sub test? Like I see for some of you scenarios they got a 35in GS or a 25 in EL. Like how is that sub test scored determined?
How exactly score is determined, I cannot tell you because not every question has same weight on test. Like a question could count for 4 points and another question for 2 points.
What I can tell you, is that in general people get a good score when they get 50 points+ on a section.
Example if you go to the test and general science 35 points, that means you didn't do well on that part and if you want to increase the score on that section, you would have to study on that subject.

@@alexclarke1875 on my practice I failed twice with scoring in the 20s then I finally got it with a 54. go for asvab felt super confident and get a 33 :( . shoot if I didn't need the 50 I would of ran with that 33 and joined then retaken it a few years later.

@@joranhope314 they didn't give me anything because I wasn't qualified. But I did see people with a 34 going in as a cook. You also might get a musician. At 50 I got those choices but I picked Master at arms

So my son whants to be a helicopter mechanic mos / then special forces when eligible he is a jr in highschool he goes to bootcamp this summer he got a 73 overall asvab first test.

Kalen Silva I’ve been trying to get into the medical field as well. A score of 50 or higher is considered good for that. Cause when I first took the practice test I got a 51 and he showed me jobs in the medical that I would qualify for. Definitely focus on the math and science!

Kalen Silva hmm if your AFQT score is 50, but I think you have to get a 50 on the science and the math portion as well to qualify for medical jobs. 50 or above is considered good :)
Medical jobs are the easiest to qualify for in the Air Force( they just don’t need the influx of people trying to go medical), medical jobs are in the general area of your MAGE score. Most medical jobs required scores range from 40-66, more so 3 or 4 jobs requires above a 50

ST(Skilled Technical) consist in:
WK - Word Knowledge
PC- Paragraph Comprehension
MK - Math Knowledge
GS - General Science
MC - Mechanical Comprehension
It means that, you need to score good in the areas mentioned above, so you can have a good score in ST.

Search asvab for dummies pdf and do the practice tests. I got a 40 on the AFQT and a 72 on the real asvab. All I did was do practice tests on it for a week and I was good.
1 month is plenty of time as long as you commit a couple hours a day and know what you need to work on. First is go to your local library and see what asvab study books they have the most recent publishing the better. I did that because I didn’t have money to buy one. 2nd depends on the branch your joining find out the line score required for the job you want so you can study for it specifically. Air Force has for 4 different line scores (General, administration, mechanical, and electrical). Your score is grabbed from each of the subjects taken on the asvab. So Air Force General score is made of of word knowledge + paragraph comprehension times arithmetic reasoning something like that I forgot. Once you know what you need to work on and what to study just focus on those sections. I recommend going onto military.com and take the short and long asvab practice test that they have. I did all of them the week prior I took the asvab and it helped me prepare. Last month I took the asvab and scored a 81 with line scores above 75 in general, admin, mechanical, and electrical Which score wise qualifies me for all jobs within the Air Force. When you go to medical depending on vision, height, hearing, and other things it can disqualify you from certain jobs but not the military itself.

@Adrian Acevedo, AFQT is 31 to enlist, but the ASVAB score you need for MP-K9 is a 91 in Skilled Technical (ST); the line scores that make up ST are: GS (General Science) + VE (Verbal Expression) + MK (Mathematical Knowledge) + MC (Mechanical Comprehension).
**VE (Verbal Expression) is comprised of two ASVAB sections: PC (Paragraph Comprehension) and WK (Word Knowledge) combined to give you the VE score.
So, when studying for the ASVAB, if you want to be in the Army as a K9 handler, mainly focus on the following sections: GS, MK, MC, PC and WK.
