In my opinion no other whakaeke could ever top this one. Pitch perfect, precision movements and you can see them all performing for the love of their tutor, ropu and the love of kapahaka.
this whakaeke is the best ive ever seen it was so clean and unique and every1 complimented each other instead of trying to over power each other they came together this was so awesome love it
Strong voices…sweetened by the synchronised will of each chord. I gotta mention the ‘taiaha Warrior in front was in perfect sync, with smooth foot movements and taiaha being shown in peace mode. The skills of a warrior in peace mode are a subtle art form of its own.
Kia ora all. After getting numerous requests, I am going to make available the DVD I have. So if anyone would like a copy of the DVD of wakahuia past performances, please contact me by private message It has Their brackets from 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002. Im not charging for it, but it will be about $10 for the DVD and Post (sorry im not rich and cant afford to give everyone a free DVD lol). It also has a bracket from one of the regionals as well as the Manu Huia bracket from 2002. Some of it is awesome Quality, but the 1998 bracket is a bit touch-and-go....but hey, its free lol.

One of the best whakaeke, hard to pick wahirere 98 in wellington or rangiwewehi in Waikato in 80/90s temuera morrison performed. Traidition remains the same, but the festival is to entertain people and the maori of today have a lot of mana and ihi. To keep tradition alive you need to adapt without losing our identity.
