Never thought things would get to this point - but I've let Shorts Gaming get away with some very odd behavior for the last few months. Its time to go in.

Some of you knew this was coming, I'm sure many of you had no clue. Never expected things to turn out like this, but shorts has disrespected me and the truth must be told.

Anytime I run into shorts, he's pretty toxic whatever I am playing successfully against and throws the same "Mirror me" in map chat. I'm a Rev-o-sort main, so you can imagine my reply. I don't play Mesmer seriously and I circumvent the meta a lot, that's the fun I get out of the game. Whether be Core, Herald or Renegade. You and I had a few fun fights too and I wouldn't exactly say that you've jumped on me for content ever, even when you did, some people just get triggered, even I do. I see P/W busted for it's evade duration, not the latter of others opinion. :p

Oi Noody! I remember back when shorts was starting he seemed like a really stand up guy. He even gave tips such as "be nice, don't be toxic, make friends you can play with" etc. I've watch his channel and I've seen the progression from being nice to salt and vinegar flavored chips. I do agree with you regarding his toxicness, I had to unsubscribe to his channel because of it. You're not destroying his channel, he's doing it himself. He's more annoying now than Justin Bieber.

@@Mieqo When I played classic everyone was happy to teach me warrior pvp. In Gw2 you have top10 players making alts and flaming people with less than 1k achievement points. I've never seen a game where the leaders of the PvP community acted this way, it's 100% pathetic. I'm not bad at Gw2 either, I just get tired of seeing these people with their meme squads every time I check in, it's truly pathetic shit. I'm actually way better at Gw2 and usually hit mid plat with very low playtime, but I'd rather play a game with people who aren't so stuck in their head.

Yikes didn't know this was just an NA thing. But yeah every game I join, I see someone at the start say like "hopefully my idiot teammates don't fuck everything up again this game", and I just face-palm because I know the entire match they're gonna be talking trash about their team instead of actually contributing and then blame it on their team.
That's why I stay in my Bubble of Casual PvE. it's just so Chill and I don't have to be afraid someone letting their Bad Days out on me. I'm very fragile when it comes to dealing with Toxic People, so I have a big Respect for everyone who is able to deal with this Daily and stay cool. I'd props would just wiggle in the Corner crying xDD
yea nowadays i just take PVP as a source of my quick dailies since i feel like there's not too much of a difference in normal and ranked

You play "bad" builds and lack skill / mechanics, then complain, and complain while putting on a smile for stream... you talk as if from a matter of fact or higher level of skill or as if some sort of authority when in reality you should ONLY be giving advice at the thing you're good at, PvE related content. Feel free to play what ever mode you want and stream it, just stop with the polite toxicity because it's terrible for a already bad community.

And Jim if you dislike my content thats 100% ok, not every person likes every TV channel. I also think it's odd you said this on someone elses video and not on my channel but since you did, let me respond. I don't know everything, nor do I pretend like I do. I'm a gold 3-plat 1 player on average, I constantly try different builds because I get bored of the meta ones, I do share my opinions on things that I think are overtuned, and carry on conversations with chat about it. Do I have bad nights? Sure (nothing like what we saw in this video though, thank god)
However most of my content is catered to bringing new people into the game. I have one video dedicated to raising the games population, and another series dedicated to teaching those players how to play (intro to crafting, choosing a class, etc) in order to make the "intimidating" areas of the game seem more approachable. I've never once made a guide on how to get into grandmaster, how to pvp, or how to beat a challenge mode raid boss, or said I know better than the people who do.
So to say that me bringing in volumes of new players to the population and teaching them the basics is "terrible for for an already bad community"? I %100 disagree.

Comeon guys what do we expect? I mean 7 years old game, the devs focus is obviously not on PvP, the remaining players in that game mode are all slowly growing to hate the game and eventually quit.. At least the ones who try or tried to take it seriously. Tryharding in GW2 pvp after 2018 is like... WHY? Just try to enjoy the game dude and if you can't let it go (which is what he did it seems).

1shot specs/builds is the reason i stopped doing pvp in GW2 and have just stuck with pve for the past few years (since i only play Holo)
I have had similar things to this happen to myself in different situations where someone suddenly goes from a friend or good mate to being really antagonistic and/or hostile in some way. Sometimes there is a clear trigger that makes sense and some times there isn't. From what I can see you handled this in about the best way you could have done and I am sorry that this has happened to you.

It's at weird state that if you dont enjoy playing GW2 you have only few things to do.
A) Stop playing computer games alltogether.
B) Play different game genre.
C) Play WoW or some other 5+ years old MMORPG or bit newer games with lower gameplay quality (mainly chinesse MMO's).
D) You get few months break and then come back.
We need some new MMORPG or the genre dies out, since 2014's release of ESO there havent been anny new good MMO, our only last hope is Amazon, but god know what will happen when They keep re-making New world and the LOTR game.
And ewen then, these new MMO's dont feel as mmo, more like first person city builder or ARPG, my definition of MMO is medieval kingdom world with lot of magic, skillbar full of skills, big red healthbar, kings, queens, undead, thicc girls (but not hentai-style girls) and badass dragons/god-like creatures that need to be dealt with.
(So pretty much another variant of GW1/GW2/WoW but in new engines).

I've been whooped by you in the arena before, but you were totally cool and respected me enough to 1v1 me when I said I was a fan so it's easy for me to know how much bs came out of his mouth there. Also not to mention, has he ever actually *played* Guild Wars 2? There's so many toxic shittalkers everywhere that there would literally be no point in trying to provoke people. Just breathing in the game is enough to get shit-talked on. If you do bad, your teammates talk shit about you. And if you do good, your opponents shit talk. Sometimes both happen in the same match, let's face it sPvP and pvp in general is just a toxic shit-hole. I get shat on no matter what class I play or how well or poorly I play it, it's such a common daily thing that it would literally be fruitless trying to "provoke" people when the salt just comes so naturally and constantly no matter what you do.

Well, if you think about it - him backing off of GW2 will help him clear his head and perhaps learn from the experience. It's a treat to see you handle the situation as calmly and maturely as you did. Perhaps one day you both will reconcile after he finds clarity, but for now let him take his leave and take a break or find another path to take (find another game he likes and sticks with it). It's really hard to understand this kind of behaviour, but it's simply an "attention seeking disorder." There are plenty of reasons why people end up having ASD. Most of the time, it's because they just want LOVE and CARE. But because they're so thirsty for it, they end up getting the wrong type of attention.

What I've taken away from all of this and it's something I had not thought about at all is; ping is important in pvp, wvw. I've got a cheap, wifi dongle upstairs and my ping is terrible, often so bad I get disconnected. I know that's not going to make me even an average pvp / wvw player but it is something I need to address.
As for the detailed analysis of your friend. You should just accept his apology and buy him a cold beverage and tell him to get back in the game. It's very possible he's hurting and is in a "downed" state. Always reach out to a brother or sister in trouble, put others before yourself and don't worry too much about "response" videos or your own pride, ego and reputation. These things are never important and should only be defined in the eyes of others. Even if you're in the right you don't need to show that. It's not important. People make mistakes, are not always at their best and get it wrong. Your friendship with Shorts should be able to transcend some pvp nonsense. Why aren't you at least trying to get a great friendship back on track? Instead of tripping over the need for a ridiculous public apology. A person should apologise because they want to not because it's demanded of them.

damn dude him talking bullshit for 80 live viewers then apologizing is bad, yet you make a 30 minute video putting private message apologies out there to monetize the drama for (currently) 4k viewers (and this vid will prob end up 8-10k at least). The response he gave to your apology response pretty clearly shows he didn't notice/read the last part of your multi paragraph response about how you'd hold this video as ransom unless he public apologizes. I think you know that, and that's why you didn't press him to make sure he saw that part. Probably read the first paragraph and saw that you seemed conciliatory. You know that you know that. I found Shorts always entertaining but taste is different. For qualitative a lot better gameplay and teaching watch Jazz Xman makes more sense anyway. As far as i know played mesmer since core days and always could adapt while playing reactive builds, during Shorts all along was more the 'only good in oneshots' power mesmer type of player and struggles easier from nerfs even vs lower skilled players.

Shorts would do that to me...I'd just be dueling folks and I'd get one shot mes'd from stealth. And if I ever retaliated another random person would 2v1 me with them. It'd happen multiple times a week for like 30min at a time. As a mesmer player of old I knew about shorts (After returning from a hiatus the community was circle jerking his stream), but now it makes sense. I didn't recognize his weird name 'Ajbkvwbv' and was confused on how someone with that name was that good, but now I understand why. He just put me on block after I killed him in a match and asked him to stop arena sniping me over his body...Honestly prefer Helseth's toxicity...at least he was upfront, and you knew exactly what you were getting.

just resently started guild wars 2 because of expantion. and been watching all of your videos since you play thief. i was a tryhard harcore player in dark souls 3. i know how toxic friends can become once they get better at a game. and get an ego because they are good.
i have also had an ego thought i was the shit etc. im not going to say im good in gw2 pvp. but this pvp system is something i enjoy. and im sad to see friends become enemys. and in this case it was one sided, because he got mad because he lost in a video game and you sending :D (smily face) he took that in a toxic way,
