Hell, there was pretty much the same opinion expressed about Temi last year. She adjusted and learned over time to expect anything at any time from Caitlin. Bri Jones would be the same. Besides, this is a backup option in case the Sabally ask is too onerous and one-sided. Like suppose Dallas asks for a 1st and 2nd pick this year and next year, plus Wheeler and Berger in addition to Smith. Four draft picks and 3 players, one on the starter list currently, and you would consider that not to be unreasonable? If that is going to be the ask, I go look elsewhere. this makes more sense than everyone talking about getting Sabally. there are plenty of UFAs on the market depending on who gets cored. why would the Fever trade assets, whether players or picks for Sabally when there are others that they can get for nothing plus Sabally will be an UFA in 2026 with a new CBA. if they can trade nalyssa straight-up for Sabally, then do that but i wouldn't trade assets unless they feel they need to win now since Kelsey, Aliyah and Lexie will all be UFAs in 2026. i really don't feel alissa and bonner will go to the Fever because of alissa but wherever they go, it'll be a package deal and they'll probably create another superteam to go up against Indiana where some people are saying phoenix. this year is ripe for teams to create a superteam because it'll be all one-year contracts so whichever team has money, can make that happen

Boston can also hit the occasional 3-point shot. That would give them a definite upgrade on both sides of the game, especially with Dantas as backup for 3 and 4 and Jones at 5 as backup. You could probably get Jones fairly cheaply in trade capital, and Salaun will be there for not much above league minimum for a one year show me contract. That works to balance the cap hit Bri Jones gives you. Also, over $650,000 in cap space for the Fever. They can afford Smith for Jones and signing Salaun easily. That also doesn't include the cap space they can save with Wheeler and Samuelson as possible trade potential. That's $405,000 cap space between the two of them they can free up. I personally chase Salaun whether I get Sabally or Jones or whoever else I chase in trade. Salaun is a quality player that definitely has the quickness to play at the speed Caitlin wants to play. Watch her tape from the Olympics. She's quick, has a versatile touch on offense and can guard any position although the guard positions she might be slower on. She's good on switches, and is a blanket defender. And she is a bit under the radar.

There's no place for Plum. She won't be a backup, and she's not tall enough to play a third guard/forward. Now, Mabrey would be an excellent choice. Forward/center, look for a veteran who wants a championship for a one or two year contract. Done. Mitchell couldn't find a better team, as the Fever is likely to provide her with championships soon.
