I love this song. It reminds me of early years of learning about Jesus in Sunday school. Then events that my sister & I went to. I miss her. She went to be with the Lord 5 years ago. But to answer your question - there needs to be a lot of similarity between 2 songs for it to fall under copyright infringement, and even then you have to prove a number of other factors are there too before you can make a claim (eg. you need to prove that the "infringing artist" had access and heard the copyright song before writing their version). In this case, the basic 5 notes of the melody line are the same BUT they are in a different key, meaning they are different notes so cannot be copyright. Also the chord progression is slightly different (this one has certain inversions not played in the CWK song). And of course we have completely different lyrics. So, at best, the bridge can be described as having a melody reminiscent of the other one, perhaps even influenced by it, but not infringing on copyright. It's a ridiculously complex field of law and it is actually changing all the time, and a lot of people have been demanding more change too. Hope that helps a bit though :)

People transpose all the time, whether covers or live versions by the artist. Different chord progressions help separate the two for sure. Who knows where the inspiration came from for these writers of this song. I wouldn't suspect a copyright infringement, but it does damper the experience for me, knowing the same melodic line is used.

I woke up yesterday morning with this song ringing in my heart. I didn't know the lyrics and had to look for it on UA-cam. I found out that many people have had the same experience. When the Holy Spirit anoints a song, it ministers to the people of God. I have also come to realize that many people who claim to be Christians have not encountered Jesus. I fear that you belong to this group. I can't understand why anyone would listen to this very anointed song and start comparing it with a secular music. Obviously your ears were not tuned to the Spirit of God. Sad.
