I like this song better when the drums are emphasized, like in this live version.
Ronnie Tutt is/was insanely great on drums. May he RIP with Elvis.

When he is on stage performing I do not hear..see...or think about anything else.
I am totally in the moment with whatever is going on with him and everyone with him on that stage. What a great escape for all of us .....watching Elvis do what he was born to do.

I was there in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 25, 1977 and Elvis Presley was Great !! Thousands of fans just like me, were clinging from the rafters.. Its amazing he hung on so long.. There was a part of the concert he introduced his tenor singer Gary Buck, and said Ya, he's got a beautiful voice, he's a big o'l son of a b*tch was hilarious ! Love Elvis !! * ♥👌⚡✌♥😘♥

It was sad when he said 1982 because of what happened. Just knowing he thought about the future and never got to see it makes me sad. He would have had some great songs in the 80’s

Only live performance of this song, which is a shame…should also have been the lead single paired with Just Pretend of the TTWII album. He didn’t forget any lyrics, the la-la’s were the ending coda for this particular tune…same as the studio track. Would be interesting to hear Darius Rucker sing this as well.

Here you talked about how he's doing well remembering the song being that it was bran new. In another Elvis reaction, you pointed out the lyric sheet he has in his hand. He did that sometimes, if it was a new song. In later years he did that simply because he couldn't remember lyrics. ☹️ Elvis had somewhat of a photographic memory. At least when reading. He could read a lyric sheet once or twice and remember the lyrics. When he was making his movies, directors and co stars were often impressed that he showed up not only knowing his lines, but everyone else's as well...even if he didn't have any scenes with them.
Also....the "Lalala's" at the end is in fact how the song ends.🙂

Dani will you please react to PATCH IT UP in his white fringe/strings jumpsuit he did on opening night August 10, 1970, it was his next to last song ( Can't Help Falling In Love). I know you did the version in his silver buckle suit, but in this version, his movements are even better. The finish is unbelievable!!!!!! ELVIS lies on stage on his back with his feet/legs under/beside him? I can"t explain it, you'll have to see it for yourself. I rewound it a couple times to see what he was doing. I don't know how he got back on his feet? That's why it is called PATCH IT UP/FANTASTIC FINISH.
