    Yes I’m Italian too love listening to him, I love he loved horses, but my dad lost a lot of money a down payment for a house, and I spent a lot of my childhood picking up looser tickets on the ground. As a kid I felt that the races were fixed! I was a smart kid. My gramma studied numbers in his very small printed numbers. I wish my dad and gramma were alive to hear this documentary! I have to say I hate gambling that is what I did learn in my life.

Betting on horses is already gambling - fringy behavior to begin with. If you do any gambling or betting of any sort you can plan on being defrauded. Gambling is a kind of fraud already. He was not using public funds or doing bank fraud and no identity theft. Also not killing people and no human trafficking. The more disgusting thing is that he had 7 houses and 7 different women. He hurt those women just because he needed 7.

    I was in the game for 20 years and won some races but stayed under the radar for the most part. I got a few juicy stories of my own (Forever Trouble?) but they couldn't warm up his. I sold Larry a horse one summer at the Meadowlands that he took to Monticello and never raced lol. This man no doubt had a guardian angel watching over him. Truth is stranger than fiction, ya can't make this stuff if you tried. Thanks Larry & Mark, brilliant!!

    i was working horses at BATAVIA DOWNS AND BUFFALO,believe me,i saw plenty of set up races in the early 80s. Relatively easy before cell phones. My 1st driving job was with UNITED HORSE TRANSPORTERS.... imagine never driving a tractor trailer,never being around race horses,handed a slip of paper with farm addresses,and told after you load these horses,meet me in buffalo raceway by 5pm....thats a whole story in getting there.....

    This is fascinating. Mark, how do you get people to just talk for an hour? It’s amazing how people (like this guy) can give a years/decades long, chronological account of their life experiences.
    At a glance, it doesn’t seem to be edited. It’s amazing.

      i worked in dog sled racing and I could talk for an hour just about how cruel that is without giving you my life story. I have been told I should write book about my life working at a zoo, rescues, in racing and stuff.
      If I write one you think I could do an interview here too and promote it?

    He tells his story well. No respect for cheaters. No respect for those who race horses for the money. I worked harness horses. Saw him didn't know him. He was a knowledgeable horseman. But the love of money... The horses like the competition. They are loved by the grooms, trainers, and owners. I had good instincts and avoided the bad folks.

    • @doggodoggo3000
      @doggodoggo3000 10 місяців тому +5

      No dude. you dont get it. You are in the same group as him.
      Animal racing is cruel af. There are lots of people who own horses their entire lives and never choose to race them. The problem with racing isnt guys like that. The problem with racing is that its a freaking race. Theres only so many ways to win a race and none of its in the best interest of horses. At the end of the day its just a breeding competition.
      My favorite part is when he talks about the people who race and dont have money. talk about people living in their tack rooms chasing races. Thats the sort of crap that people just dont get. Racing is a bad habit for lots of people. They ALL say that they do it because they love horses. Even that dude said "you cant fall in love with a car, but you can fall in love with a horse."
      You are not all that different from that guy. Racing is animal abuse. period.
