Wonderful will do nicely. It has been since I first heard her sing fifty years ago this year. I’ll never forget her standing on stage, unknown to me at that point, seemingly a nervous young waif who then started singing. Instant audience silence. There’s never been another folk voice to compare, in my opinion.

Just read "rather the devil" and I like to think that Ian Rankin used collier surname from this song

​@@markduggan4650yeah I know but in the book is a surname and in a part they mentioned anne briggs so maybe he took inspiration for the name
