In this video I shared my experience of my visit to Tehri Garhwal Uttarakhand (India).Watching Tehri Dam live was mesmerising experience. Tehri is famous in Uttarakhand tourism and Tehri lake tourism has great contribution in this. I believe this video of Tehri Dam in Hindi Language connect us deeply with Tehri.

Tehri Dam History (Tehri Dam Conflict):
Construction of Tehri Dam Reservoir was not a piece of cake. It faces many Tehri Dam Movements When in 1990, Indian Government with Tehri Hydro Power Corporation came with the proposal of Tehri Dam many villagers and local people started opposing and started Tehri Dam Andolan. Tehri Dam News(Khabar), today even, are very common around the world. At last, by 2004, commissioning of tehri dam hydro power plant (India)Phase 1 was completed.
Old Tehri:
Earlier it was known as Tehri but during the construction of Tehri Dam people were shifter to the higher places in Tehri. This newly developed place is now known as New Tehri and the villages and homes which were situated there and were submerged under Bhagirithi water, now is known as Old Tehri.
New Tehri:
It is newly established area which came into existence during the making of Tehri Dam. It is situated approximately at 1500 to 1950mts altitude above the sea level. It is 24 kms far from the old Tehri. And 11 km from Chamba. . New Tehri is now district headquarter of Tehri Garhwal.
Tehri Lake:
It is famous for adventures and water sports activities. Tehri Lake water sports activities specially Tehri Lake Boating is very popular among people.

Tehri Dam (Tehri Bandh) :
New Tehri is famous for its huge artificial lake called New Tehri Lake and Tehri hydroelectric project called Tehri Dam, which is tallest Dam in India because of Tehri dam location and among the 5 highest dams in the world. Tehri Dam is on Bhagirathi river.This tehri dam electricity production is 2400 MW.Tehri Dam height is 260.5 m. Tehri Dam depth is 800 feet.Sometimes if water flows over the limit Tehri Dam water releases from the Dam for the safety of Dam and natives. Because if Dam collapses it will affect many regions including west Bengal. It is still a big question among people of India that “Tehri dam tuta to kya hoga?”.
Culture and Tradition:
Tehri Garhwal has a rich culture. Kumaoni and Garhwali people have special contribution in this culture.Tehri Garhwal songs are very popular among the people which includes Tehri Dam Songs. Garhwal is popular because it has place in Chaar-Dhaam of Hindu Pilgrimage. Also it is known as Devbhoomi (God’s Land).In addition, Many Tehri movies are watched around the world.
Tehri Lake Festival (Mahotsav):
Every year during Jan-Feb Uttarakhand Tourism host Tehri Lake Festival. Tehri lake festival 2021 was organised from February 16-17 . This festival is Asia’s biggest lake festival.Many people enjoy Tehri Lake festival 2021 live on T.V. The main reason to organise this event is to develop Tehri Lake as an international tourist spot.Tehri Lake festival 2019 and Tehri Lake festival 2020 also attracted many people. That’s why in Tehri lake festival 2021 more people participated. Similarly, Tehri Lake Festival 2022 is expecting more.
When to go:
To enjoy New Tehri Snow Fall, the best time for a visit is between April to June and October to December

You can book them online in advance or directly book any after reaching there.The centre of attraction here is Tehri Lake Floating Huts. You can do Tehri Floating Huts booking online.For this you have to pay approximately Rs. 7000 per night for two adults. During my visit these were under construction.
