Had he asked Elie, he probably would've been thrown in the lake. This happens on the first day of chapter 4.

And this! This is the very reason why Joshua doubts it when Lloyd says Rean is actually denser then himself
It bears repeating, Rean can't recognize the feelings of the girls around him because of his own lack of self worth. He doesn't think he deserves to be loved, so how could anyone else? As a result he assumes that they can't possibly feel the way about him that they seem to. Except for Elise, he is absolutely clueless on that front since despite having a sister-complex, he views her as only that, a sister.
Lloyd by contrast, just doesn't have this excuse. I guess you could say that he puts his brother on a pedestal and downplays his achievements, but it's not as severe an issue. He more a traditional dense harem protagonist.
@@DrakeDarkHunter Lloyd is a dense protagonist. A trend in Japanese stories that, imho, needs to die. Do you know how frustrating this is?
@@DrakeDarkHunter totally agree with the Rean comment. It’s why I like that interaction with Joshua and Lloyd. Joshua likely noticed the mask that Rean wears around others to hide his true thoughts and feelings about himself since Joshua has been in a dark place as well

All tropes are good in masters hands, and i think that Lloyd is a good example how to make clishe work.
To be fair , Rean isn't dense , It just that every girl fall in love with him just he is polite and respectfull. In his relationship with Alisa, he is pretty open about their love to each other.
i think, if we didn't control (play as) Lloyd and just let him moved by himself, i bet by the end of crosbell series, he would never had a girlfriend LOL
What a nice cutscene, I wonder if Noel will come back in the most amicable of terms the next day
was playing this when Reveire came out, had to put this on hold since I already finished it before with the Geofront patch. A pity there is no continuity with the relationship part in Reverie for both Rean and Lloyd
I didn't play Reverie yet, but didn't Kondo said that Elie takes more actions toward Lloyd in Reverie?

Yes she does take some approach in Reverie but its actually hinted in Cold Steel IV however its nothing much, its much like Alisa and Rean in Cold Steel 1 & 2 minus the last bonding event.
