First coach I have seen who has addressed the "balance" issue in bunting. Feet aligned cause many foul balls or even popups due to imbalance when reaching for outside pitches. The "squared" bunt worked against this problem, but few square to bunt any more. To fix the alternative pivot bunt, start with the feet (left foot) slightly open to start, or as Sue shows, or take a small 8 inch step to open the feet and front hip slightly to allow a balanced base. Loved it!

I'm not sure why high-level coaches have not adapted the slapper's crossover step to right-handed bunting. Using the technique with correct timing variations will instantly improve bunting for the majority of young players. It reduces bat angle problems, increases plate coverage, automatically puts the bunter in the front of the box and therefore further into fair territory without changing the initial batting stance, and puts the bunter closer to first base when the ball contacts the bat.
