Fascinating to see what the summit attempt involves (as in 2024). In the early 1970s, on my first summit with a local farmer, all routes up and down were covered in thick rock scree which meant you could 'giant slide' (as in run) all the way down if wearing serious mountaineering boots On my return in the mid 2000s, the scree had largely gone any attempt to descend the mountain was down to hard rock. Understandably the route has been site-hardened to cope with the high tourist demand. 'Those were the days 'as they used to say.
Discretion is the better part of valour. I'm lucky I didn't come to grief just hiking up Tasmania's Mt Wellington - it was amazing, beautiful flora and stunning views, but a change of weather quickly made me realise I hadn't prepared as well as I thought.
Very nice, outstanding video
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words
