    Why Kings Dock Stadium Fell Through | Paul Gregg Exclusive

  • @PauloTheGeek
    @PauloTheGeek 2 місяці тому +14

    Let's see how much coverage this exclusive gets in the media. Probably little to none, Kenwright's mates in the press still want him portrayed as a hero.

      Barely any coverage. A lot of fans are quiet too.

    Great interview. It was great to hear Paul finally speak about the events that led to the Kings Dock deal collapse. It was definitely the biggest sliding doors moment in the clubs history.

    Kenwright would have made a great boardmember of a museum.
    Owning a big club is not about wallowing in old memories, it's about making new ones.
    I hold him solely responsible for removing the club the top table and shoving it in amongst the pack of also rans.
    He failed at every measure apart from soft soap BS.

    • @Jestersson
      @Jestersson 2 місяці тому +2

      He just didn’t want or accept any change for the good of the club it seems.

    • @patdog383
      @patdog383 2 місяці тому +2

      @@Jestersson The whole thing was weird.
      Merchandise deals, retail and catering deals, all signed time and time again that made no logical buisness sense right throughout his regin.
      The same mistakes were constantly made without learning from them, and all that from a man who was in the buisness of extracting money from theatre attendances. He should have been the ideal person to drag money in.
      It all stunk of something very fishy.

    Confirms what I have been saying for years, he has destroyed the club by massaging his ego. Should have been hounded out years ago, Evertonian my arse. His legacy speaks for itself. UTFT. ETID.

    What a shame this interview didnt take place 5 years ago. A massive 'own goal' by Kenwright, in blocking the stadium move, and an interview all his fans at the time, should be made to listen to.

    Good interview.
    Forward thinking guy and a loss, he was very restrained re kenwright, he actually paid for chairman bills shares,
    would have been good to hear it was Green who bought his own shares.
    If was someone other than 777 taking over we could look forward with confidence.
    But this, kings dock, 3 consecutive relegation battles, points deductions is Bills legacy.

      Wasn't his missus, Anita Gregg who lent Bill the money?
      It's just shocking how a man, and self confessed "biggest" Evertonian did so much damage to the club, because he seemed to want to desperately hang onto traditions and keep Everton, how it was when grew up supporting the club, which ultimately resulted in us being left, way, way behind.

  • @atarifan80

    It’s difficult to sympathise with those who obnoxiously defended the man for what is happening now. My cousin got terrible abuse for protesting when David Moyes was still there. Those fellas knew , they knew all along and got slaughtered for it.

    Yes, the Kings Dock project was a huge lost opportunity...
    Hopefully with the new Everton stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock we can step by step get back on track!

      If we get to play in it, there's no coincidence they are gunning for us just before we move to the new stadium.... Look at spending ability it has given West Ham and they don't even pocket the full match day revenue.

    You only have to look (closely) at our record over the last 35 years, probably the worst in our history
    to see the damage Kenwright was doing, absolutely numerous relegation battles, we were one of the best
    clubs in the country in the late 80's until he showed up and now we are fighting relegation again, it may
    sound harsh but I can't say I am sorry to see him gone. R.I.P.

    Never trusted "blue bill", was always more about him than the club. Selling Rooney on the cheap was all about him keeping control.

      I heard this before, I met a woman who had worked for Bill Kenwright Productions, she described him as an utter nightmare to work for, a tyrant. But you don't get as far as Gordon Clegg did by being 'fluffy'. I'm sure it was Bill's way or the highway as Mr Gregg describes about the structure of True Blue Holdings

      @@John_B58sorry I added an e on your name, John. I was the bloke who derided the club's merchandise department to the point where a bloke making his own Everton car stickers for the Disability Charity got a solicitors letter threatening him, but there were no car stickers in the shop at that time. Horrendous

      A really interesting interview. Great Work, John. The Kings Dock was a huge missed opportunity; tormenting to think where we may have been now, had it gone ahead. Our current predicament sadly, is Bill's legacy. He should have listened to those more experienced, and with the knowledge. Should have walked away a long time ago.
