I'm from Germany and I own a 97'GTS blue/ws for 10 years now. Had an 94'RT/10 for 3 years before the GTS. I am disabled and control clutch, brakes and gas just with my hands. The reason why I I love the Viper is because it is different than anything else. It feels different, it sounds different, it drives different. It is one of kind experience that could not be compared to anything else. If you fall in love with a Viper, it will be a lifetime lasting love. It is the same for a 911, which is the best handling car I ever drove. Great cars are the result of their unique elements. That is the reason why the Viper will be a highly priced car in the future. All the best from Germany!
This is very cool! I'm disabled as well, and I've thought I may buy some classic muscle at some point for fun. Keep on rocking! I've always thought 2+2 cars could have just enough room in the back to toss the chair onto
I bought my GTS new in 2001, best car I ever owned up to then. Its sexy looks rocked me like a punch in the gut! Now I've got an F8 Tributo which is a horse of another color, but I never sold the Viper! It's just unique!
I hear you, I still have my first Viper as well (B&W UGR TT 96 GTS), I can't imagine ever selling it... Even if I don't drive it much, it still makes me smile when I see it in the garage!
I always enjoy the relationship between Donald and Jay. There are fake arguments or feigned tension, simply respectful, informed debate on the merits/demerits of interesting vehicles.
Another great video, always enjoy listening to Donald and Jay. What a great combination of automotive knowledge. Just for the record, the designer’s name was Tom Gale. And despite the stereotypes, Viper turned out to handle pretty well, taking class wins at Le Mans three years in a row from 98 to 2000
Ahhh.... I love my Viper!! Owned it for 10 years now and I go in my garage everyday just to look at it!!! Can't wait for the weather to get better so I can go do more burnouts!!!
I get the biggest kick out of seeing my Mustang lurking back there behind where Jay is standing, gives me goose bumps every time I see it one of these videos!
It's very strange for me being surrounded by Skyline's growing up, sitting in traffic with them, modifying them and driving them like they were disposable with a never ending supply it feels like I blinked and they're gone. I appreciate their originality now, and now they're classics! Even mechanics struggle with their basic knowledge working on some 90s cars. I still drive a 90s car, to me it's just a car.
At 7:45 Leno and Osborne talk about recalls...Having worked at dealership level of a major car company, I got involved with a few recalls. In my experience, this manufacturer suggested the owner / driver was doing something wrong. In the end, it was revealed the car had a defect.
I remember several years ago Jay giving me the thumbs up in his orange Miura as he's exiting the 90 freeway in west LA as I'm driving in the opposite direction up Centinela in my gen 3 Viper.
The two "speaker" vents aren't for reducing under hood temps, one is for the hvac fresh air intake and the other is fake, does nothing. The other two vents towards the front are for the tires and the center vent is for the intake.
This host is cool. I mean, Jay is always awesome, but I haven't ever seen this host before. He seems to know a lot about cars and has some wit. I appreciate that. Cool show.
The GTS is pretty but my gen 1 93 Viper is the original OG:) I love that the gen 1 ECM is very programmable so I'm having Dan Cragin bring my HP to 450 and TQ to 495. I love my OG Viper :)
It's strange looking at Jay talk with a poster of a red fox body Mustang GT (or Cobra) over his shoulder and that B&W GTS in front of him... I had a red 88 GT back in my HS days and still have a 96 B&W GTS (although my GTS is a heavily modified UGR TT car). I guess this is a sign I'm about ready to be put in a museum myself! 😂 Nice episode guys... I will always love the gen 2 and gen 5 Viper coupes! Incredibly beautiful and timeless lines (IMO), raw, and so against the grain for their time with the lack of nannies, only came with a stick, and that awesome V10! Everything about these cars suggests they will always be highly sought after. 😎
Took a drive in my brothers gen 3 Viper last week. Never been in a road car that lost traction and fishtailed shifting and accelerating from 45 mph! Explains why so many were crashed by inexperienced Viper owners.
Leno seems to be contradicting himself when it comes to his gen 1 Viper. On Leno's garage he said all he did was change the oil and it's been reliable. Now we find out that it had all these repairs done by Chrysler Group. And the Ford GT had three recalls total not one. One would think that Ford would at least be able to get it's halo car sorted out properly before releasing it to the public but apparently that wasn't the case. Quality control issues shouldn't be as difficult with a low production vehicle like the Ford GT was.
Jays simplified superiority of american iron is cringy and plain wrong. American cars - or "american horsepower" as he calls it - weren't interesting outside north america because of differences in running costs/taxes, driving conditions and laws. He should know better.
That’s a good point but do you feel foreign American manufacturers such as ford Europe for example, do better than models made for the American market? This certainly was a US market model. We do have very different needs than foreign markets.
You're wrong on that. That's exactly why they were interesting! A huge V8 is painfully expensive to operate in Europe. But in North America, you can afford them pretty easily and have a lot less cost involved. Maybe you misunderstood what he said.
I just love these guys. They are basically walking automotive history books.
👍4 sure

Can you make a video driving the Viper. That would look great.

Thanks for featuring this amazing American 🇺🇸 icon 👍🏻
this, in blue, is one of my all-time favs…just beautiful!
You and Jay are the two great classics.

@@ssoffshore5111 Nice! I bet you still get looks with it when you take it out!
the viper is best american sports car. the sound is amazing

Fantastic episode! Always loved the Dodge Viper.
OG Viper is my fave car in the world

Cobalto blue and 2 withe stripes.... That's the right viper! Gorgeous.
I had the opportunity to drive a first generation Viper a few times, it was awesome.
I have a friend that had one. It was a blast to drive!
Good point with the "speakers" sharing the angry V10 noise :)

I really enjoy you both as car guys.
i remember when the V-10 came out in the ram truck, it was very cool.
Parts bin is an understatement:) I love that most parts are from the Neon, Dakota, Intrepid, and Ram. My gen 1 Viper is a raw badass machine:)

A blue and white 1997 viper or a black and yellow 2013 viper are two dream cars of mine.
I remember several years ago Jay giving me the thumbs up in his orange Miura as he's exiting the 90 freeway in west LA as I'm driving in the opposite direction up Centinela in my gen 3 Viper.
That was a lot of fun gentlemen, can't drive a shift, go get a corvette!😀

Leno doesn't know that and he owns multiple Vipers.
A thing of beauty is a JOY FOREVER
The Viper ACR is the greatest Coupe the US has ever built. #Recordsstillstanding
Love that hashtag!
Another great video! I always come away with much more knowledge about every vehicle. Thank you, Donald and Jay.

Isn’t that a Skyline?
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Wow, I was right next-door on this bike’s younger sibling, a 2014 Honda Valkyrie yesterday in Newport.
Viper!! 🤤🤤🤤🥰🥰🥰
the avanti and the viper were the only cars i lusted for --never bought either one.
I absolutely love my 1993 gen 1 Viper antenna car. I own the last badass American car ever made :)
You can’t buy an automatic Viper. That pretty much says it all. You need to be involved in the driving experience with a beast of a car like this.
I remember when I got my Pinto and Ford called me up and offered to switch out the gas tank. No, wait...
Cool guys. Jay has one of every car on the show. Lol. Too bad they stopped making these. They were so hard to drive. 👍🤑❤😎💙😁
The Prowler was beautiful but needed the Viper V10.
I don’t think Chevy will show up to my garage and work on my Corvette 😂
The car of death.
I got to walk around what must have been a preproduction Viper at the local Dodge dealer. It had real side exhaust.
Viper has aged well indeed. Looks better than modern Ferrari's.
I remember like 10 years ago you can get a Gen-I or Gen-II in fair condition for like $20k.
The zr1 shown is not the zr1 Jay is talking about. He is talking about the c4 zr1, not the later c6
R u gonna drive it I hope 🤞
Jay lucky you.... 😆
Took a drive in my brothers gen 3 Viper last week. Never been in a road car that lost traction and fishtailed shifting and accelerating from 45 mph! Explains why so many were crashed by inexperienced Viper owners.
"Voluntary recalls" for me, were/are "the best" customer service.
The Viper don't need no validation from no man... Viper validates you.
92-99 Lexus SC 400= 1st Japanese production v8 coupe...... get them while you can...
Now let's talk about that R32 in the background....
Ha! Does Jay really think manufactures really do that for anyone else!?!!
So all of a sudden double denim is passé
Leno's tone changes if he's not wearing jeans.
Viper been validated. A little late haha
I thought we were going for a rip!

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mr. Osborne is being kinda selfish, not letting Jay take his cars for a spin.
😉
Never heard of Bob Gale. Tom Gale? Sure... awesome designer. Bob Lutz? Product champion par excellence. Bob Gale? Who???
Bull dust on the not being able to fire a gun in Deutschland…(just not an assault rifle)…
i have a 1993 viper, most cant deal with it, they need comfort and AI in their car.
...I daily Drive my Challenger scat pack... and will always until ..well.. yeah lol
Until the petrol price is more expensive than honey
Mfr only fix recalls if they will be sued for the defect. Its all about money.
how sad is it that they totally ripped off the cobra daytona coupe?
Not sad at all…it was well known at the time where the inspiration came from. The Viper played homage to the Cobra both roadster and coupe.
Oh how times change, modern cars nowdays are so boring to drive and horrible to look after. The good old times of driving a manual FR family saloon.
The reason why i dont click modern cars video. Because they are impractical for street use.
There's something different about Leno has, he lost weight, new haircut? can't quite put my finger on it? Haha. Always fashionable.
gotten older
J i am your son
How could you make a video about a Viper so boring? Give me the Keys 🔑
The mustang STILL isn't a sports car. LOL
And given that it's now an electric SUV it'll never be.
Yes the s550 Mustang is a sport car. My GT350 is definitely a sports car.It will run all day on track with Porsches and fly past Miatas

Here is a good question....what cars are in Donalds collection...hum...huh?
He recently mentioned that he had a new Ferrari.
