We need Willie back in charge of hd from Dave davidson
Yes it was I was a proud owner of one
1980 was the first year of the FXB not 81 and was also made in 1982 but with gold accents and different bars. 1991 was another year with the EVO motor
Just bought my first Harley! '22 Fatboy 114. Black! Was this really the first twin belt driven production Harley?
Yes
@@kennethwise7108 awesome, thank you
The Sturgis was the ONLY factory twin belt ever produced .
Even though men have been successfully installing primary belts for years ( aftermarket ) , HD failed at its attempt - and never tried again …
Not true 1983 FXDG Disc Glide was dual belt drive
No accommodations for putting more tension on the belt being one of the most important factors

Ok - that I did not know ( until now ) albeit that was a “ very “ low production number ; a Willie G sort of custom in very low numbers .
I was aware of this model , but not that in 83’ that they did the dual belt drive like the Sturgis . In 84’ the Disc Glide went back to primary chain .
Thanks for bringing this to my attention . I am always wanting little details like this ; and appreciate your sharing .

Interesting …
I found in all of my “ digging “ was that they never “ vented “ in inner/outer
primary cover(s) , and because of heat build up ; that caused the belts to prematurely fail …
@@rudeawakening3833 I give up... my comment about the disc glide has been deleted twice now. If you wanted to see a nice one you need to go to my UA-cam channel and I'll send you the link
Does that mean he designed those hideous air filter housings for them? The ones people couldnt wait for the cheapo 6 month warranty to run out so they could take them off and put a S&S or other brand filter on them?
Willie G--stand up and take a bow.
ah yes, the AMF period. Literally the worst Harleys ever.
Worst Harleys ever?? I still have my 1977 flh and it runs like a top! Yes I have to throw a wrench on it every once in a while and it's on the third top end but she still alive after 45 years . Will see if these new Harleys are around after 45 years . New bikes are made to be disposable. Old bikes are made to be rebuilt.
the pos being built today are giving the AMF days a run for their money
@@jakejames1977 All harleys are shit.
@@fenderfan8543 Harley is the only bike you’ll never see in a landfill…
Imagine having a motorcycle company get bought out by a bowling supply company and still thinking you are badass lol@@BigBlockChevrolet
