I love the art in this game. It feels so genuine. I don’t know how to put it in words but it feels more like that time in 90s-00s where the developers tried to move to high res art styles but were still bound by hardware. It doesn’t have pixel art shapes but it still is. Amazing

None of her people seemed like they could fight back against either alien race. I can assume from the different sprites shooting at each other that they’re warring races who were fighting for the resources on the planet, especially the black resin which they were siphoning from the trees.
I like how the blue guys and the yellow guys are enemies of each other and you at the same time, and how they both have different technology with different uses, and how the music changes depending on which one you're controlling
Ever since playing the alien in the first AvP I've loved the concept of being the scary monster rather than the hapless humans fleeing from it. I'm glad the concept is being used more often these days.

This game would be super interesting for multiple ending runs. Total pacifist, kill everyone, kill all yellow OR blue (make one side insta win the war), Kill a ton of one over the other (one sided war) and those are just what the prototype shown. If there are survivors to save Oddworld style and other possible conditions it could be super fun game to replay. One ending could be saving the tribe and destroy all of the turrets but otherwise get what would had been a neutral ending for a tribe natural victory kind of ending. I love the game follow the "show don't tell" rule but I do hope if the game get a true build then they give legitimate reasons for both blue and yellow guys to be in the same area. I know the prototype was just speeding ahead to show off the gameplay but it was super weird to see the "enemy" of the game kill another "enemy" so casually, took me a small bit to notice they were enemies of each other. A simple intro alone would explain that much though I guess.

This is honestly a masterclass in player teaching and level design. The way the flashing runes on the wall guide the player along, the way gameplay elements are introduced in isolation, even the the way the player is put in a closed path moving around enemies so that you can see for yourself that they're hostile both to you and to each other...
The player has very Aku like powers and she basically looks like the daughters of Aku from season 5. On top of that the villains seem like robots that you would find in Samurai Jack. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game took heavy inspiration from Samurai Jack.
@@StRanGerManY If you're talking about the creators of Black Resin, they aren't associated with Delphine Software. DelphSoft went under in 2004. Stylistically though, Black Resin has quite the same style from DelphSoft's works which is always refreshing to see.
I'm impressed with the tutorial design. So many AAA games are garbage at tutorials without either lengthy handholding or just being poorly explained. Black Resin does a great job of showing new mechanics and how things interact without needing to read dozens of popup screens and the like.
Except the setpieces that explain mechanics, many of them are such nonsense that they might as well be a sign with pictures. Two people standing face to face in a spot that makes no sense, only start fighting once you're there to see it. Yes it teaches in a good way but it's not integrated into the world well.
After seeing just the introductory cinematic and the description, I want to try the game for myself. Dear gosh, this is the most immersive game I have played in recent memory. This has become a favorite of mine already. I want to see how far Black Resin goes.
Game looks cool, love the art style. One thing I’d recommend working on the audio visual feedback. You’ve got a textless game, so conveyance is really important. For example its kinda unclear at first that the two factions are fighting. Both factions are introduced together and when they attack each other their invincibility frames block the shots. I thought they were like two guards playing around. Maybe introduce the two factions separately to establish they’re dangerous, then show them fighting each other. I’m also a little unclear why they have i-frames, if you want both factions to get a shot off, maybe make the more armored looking one be able to take two shots; that would also mean they work a little differently mechanically. Overall I’m really digging the art style and the story. The game has great potential, excited to see where it goes.
This looks simply amazing! It takes me back to early gaming Prince of Persia on the Apple-II, first CD-ROM title Out of This World (Another World), and spiritual successors such as Flashback, Blackthorn, etc. Love the modern twist on nostalgic sneaky-weakling platforming.

Is it me, or does the protagonist look like a shadowy Envy from Full Metal Alchemist? That aside, getting quite a few Hyper Light Drifter and Tarboy vibes from this, looks pretty neat. With a few improved sound tweaks, animations and special effects, it'll be even better.
