I nasal breath during the day 90 percent of the time (and have for years, ever since I studied meditation), but at night I have found myself mouth breathing at times and snoring. My teeth are also somewhat crooked, but my lower jaw isn't recessed and I have an OK chin (though the jaw lacks some mass and seems to be getting worse as I age). Taping my mouth alone caused my bite to subtlely change. I think it's because I wasn't having completely perfect tongue posture. My tongue was touching the very edge of the back side of my teeth, and wasn't fully pushing up on the palette.
To me, it looks like Hyrax and Haas are not anchored to your actual bone, they are only anchored to the teeth. For adults specifically, those will likely not split any suture and will not expand nasal volume in the way that MSE will.
@@bigsnack can you explain how is that even possible?? Supposedly you stop growing your jaws at age 16 or so, most orthodontists say that for class 3 malocclusions the only way is surgery or brackets + tooth extractions .

man a month with the MSE and this thing is struggling to split my skull apart. ive had bicortical puncture on the suture line as well as surgical assist. BP failed but the surgicall assist is somewhat failing now too because the TADS are tipping. If you are a adult male with a strong bone structure and good bone density, dont bet on this splitting youre palate suture apart very much. Btw im a 26 year old male.
in this before after with the homeoblock appliance the-great-work.org/wp-content/uploads/wpforo/attachments/2332/874-homeoblock-facial-changes.jpg , the eye spacing clearly increased, making the face more balanced and symetrical, we can also notice how her nose has widened a bit improving her harmony even further. There is definetly something going on with the midface region even with those tooth borne appliances but unfortunatly i lack the knowledge to explain how and why does this happen. However the MSE is still the superior device because of the treatment time (u got all these changes in a few months while it took this girl 2 years to get them but the lower arch can follow the upper arch, not making the mandible insanely wider but still substantial). i would also add the fact that because of the appliance being bone borned, it's much superior for protraction purpose if you decide to do so, fixing a class III like that is often done, i bet that you could protract even more up and forward if you accept the fact that you will need lower jaw surgery to catch up with the expansion and aim to get as much up and forward displacement as possible instead of just fixing a class III bite but i need a specialist to confirm that For now, every ortho i emailed about that simply didn't respond to me, i guess that i will book a consultation in the future with one and see what he has to say about that. That's actually incredibly insane about the guy that did MMA. It makes perfect sense as to why a patient would relapse if the tongue isn't staying up there. You'd think the titanium screws would be enough to prevent relapse.

Ok I'm a guy with Sleep Apnea, and I was contemplating jaw surgery until I came across MSE devices. However, I have a few questions 1) MSE expands the upper jaw, which in turn expands the nasal cavity which promotes nose breathing for mouth breathers like me. So once the treatment is complete, will I have to train my tongue to rest it on the roof of the mouth by mewing or other myo func therapy? 2) My second and most important question, what happens to the MANDIBLE??. Expanding the Maxilla is all well and good, but I have a recessed and narrow mandible(Rethrognathia) which along with the maxilla is actually causing my tongue to go block the airway during sleep. How does the MSE address the narrow mandible? 3) Lastly, how are crooked teeth addressed with the MSE appliance?? Will they use sort of braces to correct them? Your response will be much appreciated. :)
@@beorf4910 Well, I have done enough research to now know what the MSE does and it's limitations. 1) MSE cannot do anything for the lower jaw. You will have to address it's deficiency via jaw surgery or something. There are no appliances to expand the lower jaw, except for a few distractors which not a lot of surgeons do. 2) Occlusion is managed via braces once MSE is done expanding. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Once you have expanded the maxilla sideways and moved it forward either with your tongue or facemask, you will need to constantly mew properly to guide the mandible so it can adapt (move forward). Do not expect to see major movements forward of the maxilla if you are mature.
Tongue on the upper palate is normal posture regardless of whether you use an expander or not, asuming the expander allows the tongue to be in that position.

Narrow nasal cavity appears to be a major cause of cranial bone deformation by forming negative pressure in the cranial bone area when breathing. Also, when your nose is narrow, you sometimes breathe with your mouth.
I’m looking into getting expansion on my upper palate, I’m located in nyc. So what MSE does is expand the nasal passage therefore making it easier to breath? But I need to get my insurance fixed first, then I would go to a dentist to get an opinion and from there a orthodontist and I will ask about MSE and if they don’t offer it then I would go to dr. My 17 yr. old daughter got a RPE. After about 3 months of wearing it, she told me for the first time in her life she dreams and gets deep sleep. So, at your age I'd say yes, but I'm no expert.

My face is completely assymetrical , forward and upward growth on left and downward and backward growth on right. Can mse or agga help fix it ? I don't have any problems in nose breathing or sleep apnea but I have a childhood injury on my right side because of this I sleep differently in right side then left side .
It can man just it’s like a new field. No one knows how to do it perfectly. If you strengthen the tongue it will get bigger and if u can maintain tongue posture it has to make room.
Probably. If your maxilla is so small that you cannot fit your whole tongue to mew, then mewing might not be that beneficial other than fixing your breathing patterns. This is unfortunate because my whole tongue can't fit my maxilla so it blocks my breathing.

Overbite but forward and upward growth my right side front incisor do no come forward I don't know why and my palate is narrow to fit my tongue which is further narrowed by braces. I don't have problem with nose breathing but when I touch my injury I start breathing heavily so it is possible when I am asleep my injury spot touches the pillow and I start mouth breathing. And when I turn left I start nose breathing that gave me this uneven growth .

I hope this doesn't sound mean or disrespectful but your speech sounds a bit garbled and you have a lisp. I'd heard it before but figured it was due to the AGGA device. However, now you don't have it, and your speech is still garbled. Regarding the tongue posture. I feel that this neuromuscular retraining is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL. Most doctors do a horrible job of even telling people myofunctional therapists exist. Anyone seeking professional help for braces, apnea, deviated septum, tongue tie, any maxillofacial surgery, any expansion dental device should first complete at least 6 months of myofunctional therapy first, and then continue the therapy for another year to year and a half. Depending on your therapist, after the first 8 sessions, the appointments are every few months. It'll be worth it because you'll get to keep your results.
I’m going to look in to myofunctional therapy, I noticed the same thing with his speech. I got the MARPE installed a week ago, my speech is horrible at the moment and would hate it if it was to stay like this after removing it.
He’s not doing it to look perfect he’s doing it for increased functionality that was probably robbed from him by his childhood bad habits and or orthodontists. Stop bagging on it.

I dont have sleep apnoea and im not a mouth breather I have an underdeveloped jaw. Would I still be better off with MSE and not AGGA?
I bet you breathing would get better with mse. You would be surprised how bad your breathing is now but you are used to it.

I hope this doesn't sound mean or disrespectful but your speech sounds a bit garbled and you have a lisp. I'd heard it before but figured it was due to the AGGA device. However, now you don't have it, and your speech is still garbled.
Regarding the tongue posture. I feel that this neuromuscular retraining is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL. Most doctors do a horrible job of even telling people myofunctional therapists exist. Anyone seeking professional help for braces, apnea, deviated septum, tongue tie, any maxillofacial surgery, any expansion dental device should first complete at least 6 months of myofunctional therapy first, and then continue the therapy for another year to year and a half. Depending on your therapist, after the first 8 sessions, the appointments are every few months. It'll be worth it because you'll get to keep your results.
I’m going to look in to myofunctional therapy, I noticed the same thing with his speech. I got the MARPE installed a week ago, my speech is horrible at the moment and would hate it if it was to stay like this after removing it.
