Not even the Vetterli. Vetterli is still gonna be fine since it still has that oneshot potential on people lacking small bar (well, at least within 20m, lol) and its kinda cheap. The Centenial tho? Its my favourite gun but after that small ammo buff that weapon will be once again forgotten. I can buy a weapon that does kill at 180m for 157$, or a weapon that kills at 150m, has a scope, has usable levering, is faster and costs around 100$ with hv ammo included. As much as I like to use all winfields, this is ridiculous. Looks like Crytek really hates medium ammo.

But, you carry 3x the reserve ammo which means more ammo on resupply, and you can carry a nagant with even more reserve ammo for about the same price as a pax which sends your reserve through the roof. Once again, Medium ammo's only calling card of having slightly better drop off (And I do mean very slightly because they start at 20 too and are not much better than compact) makes no grounds against the dominance of compact's special ammo types.
4:35 one of the coolest and most underappreciated sounds of HUNT in my opinion is the whispers of the bosses all being unique. If you ever get the chance to listen to the bosses whispering it sounds like something from the Lord of the Rings, such a sick feature
It's great to show a good loadout, which doesn't cost about 800+ or something. And this loadout sounds like a lot of fun considering the Winfield buff and the reduced costs for Bornheim.
Do not know if you will read this but Winnie high velocity bow with poison+concertina If hundred hands/iron repeater And Winnie Fmj with dual conversion fmj If levering These are my usual Winnie loadouts. Typically go for headshots with high velocity so no common ammo issues.
@DIBs I'm officially changing the build 😅 At the start it's bow compact Springfield, eventually oberez and eventually a full Mosin nagant with bow now. For the Winnie I now run swift with velocity and compact winnie with fmj, using Levering for both weapon slots feels pretty good. Iron repeater also is dual purposed. It's almost like having only 1 Winnie but with fast ammo type swap if that makes sense lol. Velocity for head pops and fmj for spray and pray. Maybe I'll try centeniall with small Winnie too but I'm too addicted to swift velocity 😂
Medium ammo is the unloved stepchild of Hunt Showdown. The only reason to use it is the pretty skins some of the weapons get, other than that there just isn't anything medium ammo weapons do better than their alternatives. All rounder budget pistol? Officer beats the Spitfire Good value rifle? Winnie now arguably better value and performance than vetterli/centennial Ranged backup for your shotgun but uppercut is too expensive? Sparks pistol or Budgetcut (conversion with fmj) Bleed ammo backup? Why use the pax when the new army fires twice as fast Really only the scottfield swift for fanning remains as a unique advantage of medium ammo. But most better players prefer the reliable officer over fanning rng anyway
The problem with medium ammo weapons is they are always within compact weapons HS range (especially after this patch) and they drop off to a 3 tap too early (70m). The windows where medium is the most effective is 40-60m but long ammo bolts do the same but can go further than 70m away so they are redundant. For medium ammo to be effective compact ammo needs to not 1 shot headshot at around 80-90m (most of them are like this at the moment) and Medium ammo needs to 2 tap up 80-90m.
Spitfire FMJ ist a fast shooting wallbang sidearm over Officer. Veterli Silence is best SIlencer atm. Dualwield Pax bleed is best bleeding Dual Wield. Centenial Sniper is cheapest spam Sniperscope Rifle. There are some medium ammo weapons that have an Edge, they just perform only in edge cases. Imo they should add Pax Silence, Pax Poison Ammo and Pax High Velocity Ammo, so Medium AMmo gets more intressting again.

The real MVP of game one is lightfoot, kite skin, and a regen shot. Also every time you ran over that third ammo box while complaining about no ammo boxes I died a little.
Well we all know the pax needs hella love, so I feel with 1.10 moving the pax to around level 50 in the bloodline is in prep of upcoming changes. So hopfully when the pax gets some love so does Medium ammo as a whole. Like just increase the damage drop off range for it and maybe the pen damage so it feels a bit beefier then compact but not overtake long
One way I would have medium ammo set apart from compact and long is by making all the medium weapons higher velocity with good penetration, but still moderate/low damage.
Other than the Vetterli, doesn't really seem like we should even bother with medium ammo anymore. Most of the guns are just too expensive and small ammo guns literally do the same thing now so...why bother?

Up the effective range on a rifle with an already insanely tight shoulder aim and high rate of fire. Then make it's near hitscan speeds at compound engagement ranges cheaper. And then revive the bornheim. Budget mosen/dolch indeed.

It has almost no sway and in a trade situation with anything other than shotguns, you always win as by the time the other guy fired 1 shot, you already fired 3-4. And with fire ammo it's just plain evil. I've been using it with that and I've been destroying people. It's such a cheap gun. I find it even better than dolch as dolch rarely kills with 2 bullets and the recoil is weird while reload speed is SLOOOOOOOW. Bornheim is all that and more for only 180€ now??
It's not a new meta. This loafput was playable like that all the time. Now it's only a bit cheaper, but it still lacks the ability of wallbanging and body shots on range are weak. This loadout was always about close range spamming and clicking heads.
Yeah the aperture might be a new pick for me, whenever i rolled levering on my starting hunter i would opt for Terminus but i felt like i lacked fire rate for distance cuz i usually took a some revy for free.

Can you explain to me please. That effective range buff only affect headshot one shot or also bodyshots? Because I am a big fan of Winnie with fmj since without it it takes sometimes too many hits to kill someone. And with fmj it’s almost every time 2-3 shots if not headshot. Because it that improves bullet overal damage dropoff then I’m sure going to take high velocity.
Also wonder. Would like to see some chart. But logically it seems like they are overall buffing the damage dropoff, increasing the two tap potential. If they wouldnt they would have to only increase the headshot multiplier to ridiculous numbers. That doesnt seem logical. But after all, whats logical in that game.

Now most of the players playing with shotguns with fire ammo and just spam it in kilometers to make people burn, or they use poisonous bullets to spam with funning. U can meet two variations of hunter in bayou 1. Camper with shotgun or sniper rifle 2. Retards with funning on primary and secondary. Im keep playing Hunt in my favourite agressive playstyle, but Im tired of bushjerkers and campers.
I don't know the way I always saw it was: FMJ= The true long range ammo. Bullet velocity is not crucial to an ideal snipe shot. However, good FPS players are constantly skittering to avoid headshots. HV = Mid to close range because damage drop off is trivial below your gun's max range. What wins is who "shot first" (bullet velocity) it's why you see a lot of trades. Because the guns bullet velocity start to match at X range below...say 50-100m
Both of your statements make no sense. Bullet velocity becomes more critical the further distance the target is. FMJ increases effective range, yes. Trades can and still do happen with HV. If you shoot at the same exact time and both shots would be kills, then it doesn't matter what velocity your bullet is the shot registered. This only makes sense with the idea that you have more time to react the slower the bullet is. But at close to medium range as you're saying, it doesn't matter if it was a sparks or a bolt. You're not going to be able to react to the projectile at anything less than 50m (for reference with a bolt (150m/s) that would give you 1/3 of a second to react to either the sound cue or the subtle visual cue of the crossbow and that's if we ignore the inherent desync present in online games
I hate that they're constantly reducing the disparity between medium and small ammo guns. Why take a karabiner, just take Winfield.
They should just increase the penetration depth of medium

HV = Mid to close range because damage drop off is trivial below your gun's max range. What wins is who "shot first" (bullet velocity) it's why you see a lot of trades. Because the guns bullet velocity start to match at X range below...say 50-100m
Both of your statements make no sense. Bullet velocity becomes more critical the further distance the target is. FMJ increases effective range, yes. Trades can and still do happen with HV. If you shoot at the same exact time and both shots would be kills, then it doesn't matter what velocity your bullet is the shot registered. This only makes sense with the idea that you have more time to react the slower the bullet is. But at close to medium range as you're saying, it doesn't matter if it was a sparks or a bolt. You're not going to be able to react to the projectile at anything less than 50m (for reference with a bolt (150m/s) that would give you 1/3 of a second to react to either the sound cue or the subtle visual cue of the crossbow and that's if we ignore the inherent desync present in online games
